I'm still experimenting with recipes for this "classic" that seems to be made differently everywhere I order it. I've used Roses; fresh lime juice; Limoncello; reconstituted lime juice. Grand Marnier vs. Cointreau, but never triple sec. A local spot in Santa Barbara serves it up with almost clear with just a blush of pink vs. most that are cloudy pink. Decisions, decisions on what I prefer.... (It's fun experimenting!)

Late night dinning in Union Square area??

On note for Scalas: Steamed mussels with leeks served with a cone of frites and aioli (from the appetizer menu $15) is my favorite late night light dinner after strolling Union Square. Perfect.

Visiting SF in July: Recommendations?

Incredible Sardinian restaurant on 30th. Reservations a must. Unique, memorable food, excellent wine list and professional staff.
Afghan food at it's best with the charm of Helmand Palace on Van Ness is a great choice, too!

Cheap Eats in SF

We like Uncle Vito's, half way up Nob Hill on Bush for simple, basic dinner. Pizza plus typical italian menu--hot meatball sandwich ($5.50) spaghetti and meatballs ($9.95.) Glass of wine $4 ! Busy, family atmosphere and packed around dinner time, great staff--the price can't be beat!
