Gonzales Food Market

You have got to try the Lamb Ribs. They are the best I have ever had anywhere.

make sure and get plenty of napkins though. The lamb can be really greasy.

Gonzales Food Market -- Good BBQ

I love the Mutton. Definitely one of the most missed great spots on the BBQ tour. I lived 2 blocks from it for awhile and never found anything that did not meet my expectations. And I am a Champion BBQ'er.

Definitely give it a try when you are going through. And if you are a true aficianado, just drive there.

I ate at Texas Monthly’s Top 5 BBQ Pits in One Weekend.

Gonzales City Market is still open. It is downtown and has been run by the same hispanic family for over 30+ years. All of the meat is as remarkable as Smitty's, Black's, Mueller's. But it is the Mutton that you should drive down a little further to enjoy. If you have never had mutton then remember that it is a very stong tasting meat and the folks in Gonzales do a great job of preparing it.

Does this pizza topping sound ok?

On another pizza, try some smoked oysters and fresh sliced green onions.

Put a dried white cheese on top of the provolone/mozzarella at the end of the cook.

Oh my, it is good.

Flip Happy Crepes...A+!

20 years ago, I lived behind Chuys on Barton Springs in an Avion trailer.

Great times then.

fried catfish

Spot on my friend. It is not as good as Capt Tom's in Houston. But Captain's whole catfish is some great victuals.

I love their raw oysters, gumbo, and fried oysters. The other items are ok.

But the catfish is some of my favorite ever.

screaming goat--budget chow

But do they serve Goat???

There is nothing better when it is prepared correctly. And there are many ways to prepare it the right way.

Best Restaurant Not in a Major Texas City - Texas

Ft. Griffin Steakhouse

Albany, Texas

There is nothing on the menu that is anything but fantastic. From the steaks and prime rib to the fried shrimp and grilled fish.

I have driven a 100 miles out of my way to eat here. The owner are brothers who were from the Iranian Nobel Family. They were displaced when the Shah fell in the late 70's while they were training with the Air Force in Abilene.

It was definitely our gain in Texas as they put on some great food.
