I am sponsoring second day Shavuot Kiddush at my shul. It will be an ice cream party (dairy). I was looking for suggestions on what else can accompany the ice cream, other then cheesecake, which is a given. It will not be a washing kiddush so no bagels. Preferably cold items, but things that can be refrigerated before Yom Tov would work too - the shul has ovens to heat up. |

If you are looking for meat, then Sara's deli inside the Oak park JCC is delicious! It's quite casual, but they do have waiter service. The only other place I would take someone to is Jerusalem Pizza in the West Bloomfield JCC, but that's potentially out of your way and obviously dairy:) |

Wow, these are so great. So I have now learned that chances are I will be staying in Haarlem. Is that completely far away from kosher civilization? I also found the website for restaurant Habaron on chabad.org. They seem very nice. Thanks again for all your help. I might have another slew of questions as the imminent departure will approach (after Shavuos). |

Thanks CloggieGirl! |

I have not seen recent posts about what is kosher in Amsterdam these days. I was last there in 2004 so I am pretty sure things are not the same any more. Shamash.org has not been updated in some time either. I will be staying next to Schiphol airport but will have access to public transportation. Any suggestions would be welcome for restaurants as well as Shabbos accommodations. Lastly, if any place is suitable for a business meal, please advise as well. Thanks! |

All time favorite Seder recipes Can you please post recipe for spinach cupcakes? |
|

All time favorite Seder recipes Has anyone tried Matzolah? I think its supposed to be like granola. The advertisement says that it one a prize at the kosher festival. |
|

Oy! I still never made it out there... |

All time favorite Seder recipes It would be nice if people posted more recipes. So far, the apple kugel is the only one listed here, but it would be great to see more. Pesach is hard for us with small kids nagging for cheerios - pesach cheerios is gross. I stick to what I know, but just on Pesach, I do make Yapsik, which is a simple potato Kugel with meat inside (Flanken). The meat is sauteed with onion prior to being baked in the potatoes. The Potatoes are grated and mix with egg, salt and pepper and oil as a regular kugel would be and then the meat is stuck between a potato top and bottom. Everyone loves it. Flanken is kind of pricey, so I just buy it once a year. Otherwise, it's chicken, broiled garlic tilapia and Moussaka with ground beef all the way:) |

NO WAY! That's totally exciting! Will certainly check it out! |

We also went there a couple of week ago. I LOVED the pizza. I wasn't too crazy about the interior or the service. I also don't like the fact that now you have to enter the place from the street, which creates an extra freezing draft inside the restaurant, so if you are sitting at one of the booths close to the door, you can get sick very easily. Despite all that I will DEFINITELY keep ordering the pizza forever:) We had a plain cheese pizza as well as one with fake pepperoni, both delicious! Really great stuff!!! So Good! |

So I know it's only January, but I so hate leaving things for the last moment and started planning our Purim Shaloch Manot theme for this year. Our kids (and us) are planning to dress up as pirates and I would like to do a pirate them, however, other then chocolate coins and pirate treasure chests for containers, I am kind of stuck. Any suggestion for mine or other ideas of Shaloch Manot would be so appreciated! |

Wow, interesting - I have never heard of these guys so not quire sure how they have been advertising. The recipes sound great too! |

I heard there is a new milchig place in Sunny Isles where Bissaleh used to be. Our friends just came back from Miami and raved about it. |

First of all - Congratulations! Second of all, I am so stealing this idea for my son's upsherin this summer! You are a genius and a half! My kids are obsessed with Dr. Seuss - can you do green and yellow desserts? and put them around a "mouse" and a "house". I would absolutely do everything in orange, yellow and green - they are such happy baby colors! I think it would be cool to have all the little props for transportation that are listed in the story and to have the food (at least desserts) displayed around them. And if you are having kids, maybe a small yellow and green candy bar with little take away baggies or carry out containers so they can take them home? You can make green eggs and ham stickers on your computer with a "thank you" note and stick them on. Anyway, this sounds like tons of fun! Most importantly, I hope when your baby gets older, he will eat everything you make without complaining:) |

I have had BBQ Chicken and fake Pepperoni pizza at Jerusalem pizza in Detroit and although I won't say that it's the best pizza I have EVER had (working in a treif Italian hole in the wall in Skokie all through college will do that to you), it was one of the best Kosher pizzas I have tried! I am very excited to try Soulsurfing pizza as they will be the first in Chicago to offer these sorts of toppings and compare it to Michigan. I was planning to go there yesterday, but with the dreary weather it just never happened... I am totally psyched by all of the positive reviews on this board though! Since this is pizza, I certainly don't mind taking it out, so the decor may not be so much of an issue for me. I am glad they reopened in old Malibu - it's actually an awesome location for kid birthday party or a beach/Hawaiian Luau themed Bat Mitzvah:) |

Ooooh! I have had fake pepperoni pizza at Jerusalem Pizza in Detroit, i LIKED it:) Can't wait to try! |

Even better the Tel Aviv?:) |
|
|
So is there a definite opening date? |
|

I also saw the new sign. Wonder how this is going to be different from Malibu... |

I am sponsoring dessert for our synagogue's Chanukah party, which happens to fall on my birthday. There will be approximately 70-80 people (kids and adults). What are some suggestions for popular bakery desserts other then sufganiot that can be served? Just want to do something nice, especially for kids! Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Milt's Kosher BBQ, 3413 N Broadway Chicago? Well, their FB page invited everyone to have Thanksgiving dinner at the restaurant next year, so we will all assume that they will be open by next November! |
|

Further update! Went back again, because I just can't seem to stay away, just saying... |
|

Oh my, if there was a kosher Indian restaurant, I would LIVE there! I really hope that someone down Devon Avenue would consider an establishment of that nature... |
|
|
Can't say I am upset. It was not worth the schlep for me. It is obvious that it is possible to have a kosher eating establishment that is worth the trip because MetroKlub is doing just fine. Here is to hoping for more options downtown just for variety's sake:) |
|
|
Thank you Queenscook! I started out with the samosa pie, which turned out great! I did not realize though how pricey cardamom was:) I also made an Indian cholent which I found on Jamie Geller's website, it's basically a chicken, lentil and vegetable stew, which I served over basmati rice, which i prepared separately. Now that I have all the spices, I am going to try the rest of your recipes in the coming weeks! Thank you so much for the inspiration! If you have a good recipe for the green mint chutney sauce (I think it is served as dipping sauce for samosas), I would love to see it! |

Kosher Food at The United Center in Chicago Excellent news! Looking forward! |

Kosher Food at The United Center in Chicago Does anyone know if Kosher Sports is still operating in the United Center? They no longer seem to be listed on the CRC website... Need information for a December 18th game. |

Have u ever put one crust on the bottom and one on top to have more of that all around dough feel of samosas? Or is that dumb? |
|

This is awesome!! The green salad with mango also sounds really good. Does anyone know if kosher naan can be easily bought somewhere? I have checked a few stores, but no luck. |
