Bakerbots - Amazing bakery in Bloorcourt

Just spotted this place last night coming out of the Ossington station. I walk by it a few times a week and hadn't noticed. I will definitely be checking it out.

Where to eat around St. Clair & Bathurst

Frida is lovely. Went with my parents and had a great meal. They are super friendly as well. Definitely recommend.

Well I didn't check this beforehand, so we ended up at South Side cafe across the street. Alright brunch, but not spectacular. We scoped out a few of the restaurants around Spadina Village. I think we will probably try Edo-ko regardless of the price, and perhaps a few of the others.

Nice, thank you. I've been meaning to try Rushton. We might hit up Hope Street Cafe for some brunch this weekend. I've been to Chuck & Co in Liberty Village and it was a pretty decent burger.

My boyfriend lives in this neighbourhood and we really want to start finding good places to eat nearby, since we always seem to go out in my area. We've been to Stockyards and love it, but want other places to eat as well.

Please give us suggestions! Any style/price range is welcomed. We want all sorts of places to try.

ISO: So Delicious Coconut Milk Yogurt

Is this a new development? Because previously Fiesta did not carry the coconut milk yogurt and I was told it is unavailable in Canada. They do sell the ice cream and the beverage though.

ISO bpa-free tuna in Toronto

It's generally used to line tinned products to stop them from leaching a metallic taste into the food.

Big changes in Hoof Land

The article was really interesting, but the quote of $400 for dinner for two scared me off a bit.

HADLEY'S 940 College St -- new BBQ joint

Finally stopped in yesterday and grabbed some brunch at the bar. It wasn't super busy so all of the staff were very friendly and talked to me for most of my stay. I had the "remedy" which is two deep fried poached eggs (sooo gooey and crispy!) on top of potato hash, baked beans and pulled pork. Comes with a side of coleslaw and a little bit of fruit salad. I was hungover and starving..it was the perfect breakfast! Going to go back and try the dinner menu sometime soon.

New Annex Guu - any experiences?

Going Saturday with a group of 5-6.. Trying to decide what time to go. Have the lines become crazy at all like at the other location?

2011 Food and Resto CLOSINGS

Yep that's why I said "near" Sherbourne and The Esplanade. You can see it from the corner. We are desperate for new places to eat, and even Pizza Nova is better than what they sell in our cafe. My experience with Bolet Burrito was not positive and I have no desire to return. My burrito was not all that flavourful or enjoyable. Canned mushrooms should not be a topping.. We had a great burrito place in Liberty Village and Bolet does not compare..

Looking for a good Veg/Vegan lunch place for Saturday (D/T Toronto)

Sounds promising! I will give them a shout tomorrow and see what they say.

2011 Food and Resto CLOSINGS

Hey I went out exploring today near work and found a few places near Sherbourne and The Esplanade. A shwarma place, sushi (Miyaki), a new Indian place (Tumeric) and a Pizza Nova. Had the sushi and it was alright for takeout. Anything is better than La Crap! I miss Chaska.

Looking for a good Veg/Vegan lunch place for Saturday (D/T Toronto)

Vegetarian friend in town visiting and I'm charged with finding us places to eat. She also has some food allergies so cannot eat eggs or nuts.. I'm having a hard time finding a place for us to go! In the past we have gone to Cafe 668 which was good and accommodating about her allergies, but we want to go somewhere new. Nothing too pricey, just a nice casual lunch spot. Hitting Woodlot for dinner Sunday for a nicer meal.

So far it's been suggested to try Live, Vegetarian Haven, Commensal and Camros. Unfortunately Camros and Veg Haven aren't open for lunch on Saturday. Live sounds good but the amount of nuts on the menu scares me.

Would appreciated any tried and tested suggestions!

Yep. If you're looking for a Friday or Saturday reservation around 7pm, it's best to make one several weeks in advance. Sundays and other days are easier to get spots!

ISO Horse Meat in SW Ontario

Yeah I can second that the horse meat is most likely never organic. I own two horses and I don't think there is a single line of horse feeds we can purchase that is considered organic. Also most horse owners give their horses all sorts of supplements and drugs to keep them "healthy."

I'm not aware of any farms in Ontario that raise horses just for consumption, though there could be some.

Woodlot

Spent approx $130 on dinner for two, but we shared a bottle of wine. Would be cheaper if you only had a glass or a half bottle.

ISO Horse Meat in SW Ontario

What area of the store has the rabbit? I was going to look last time I was there but I totally missed it.

Big changes in Hoof Land

I agree that they could have had a more simple site done up much sooner, but I don't agree that "most of the stuff" is obsolete or on its way out. All of the information regarding the original Black Hoof is still valid, since that restaurant isn't changing. The only thing that will have to change is information about the cafe.

PEPSI Throwback- have you seen it?

Agreed. I had it with rum last night and it was great. Also tried it with vanilla vodka. I find sugar/cane sugar sodas have a different mouthfeel than ones with HFCS and they aren't as sickly sweet.

PEPSI Throwback- have you seen it?

Just got some at this Metro today. On sale for $3.33!

Big changes in Hoof Land

Why is it funny? They didn't have one for the longest time, and it looks really nice.

ISO: So Delicious Coconut Milk Yogurt

Fiesta Farms just started carrying the coconut milk beverages in original, unsweetened and vanilla.. But I was looking for the yogurt product which isn't available in Canada yet.

Heading there tomorrow night. Seen lots of buzz about it on twitter. Thought I might try it out before it gets so popular that I can't get in.

Poutine Shacks - Trafalgar Road

I've had the poutine at chip wagon #1 many times. Pretty good although I've never found the curds to be squeaky.

I hear the "newfy fries" at Louise's are pretty good!

Guu - Second location opening in the Annex!!

Doesn't seem very definite according to this article: http://www.torontolife.com/daily/daily-dish/rumours-rumblings/2010/07/12/guud-news-the-jam-packed-izakaya-may-be-opening-second-location-in-toronto/

Which actually references this thread. :P

Places to eat near Lower Jarvis/Queens Quay

Nice. I guess we'll just have to explore when we get there. Still no idea when that is happening, but we have to leave our building soon.

And yes, lots of bars.. Like C'est What. Mmm delicious beer..

Argh so disappointing! Not really wanting to leave Liberty Village that this point. Although Chaska looks okay. At least there are some good choices for post work beverages.

Places to eat near Lower Jarvis/Queens Quay

Our work is moving to the dead zone that is that area. Looking for places that we can get tasty lunch food. We are used to having a good selection of sandwiches, burritos, sushi, burgers and roti near where we work now. Obviously St Lawrence is right there as well as the Loblaws, but any other suggestions would be great! A lot of us will have cars and bikes so a bit of travel is okay since there isn't too much going on down there right now.

favourite ice cream or gelato flavours and where to get them 2009

Had the lemon sour cream gelato at Soma last week. It was fantastic! Tart and tangy and really nice and creamy. Also had the strawberry and fresh mint sorbet. Great flavour, but I don't enjoy the texture of sorbet as much. Too grainy.
