Tandoor E India - Oakhurst, NJ
Hey Aacharya,
The food at Tandoor e India continues to be outstanding and consistent. I would HIGHLY recommend this as a place to try if you haven't yet. I've had many different dishes (sometimes it is hard to order something different because I LOVE so many things) and I've always enjoyed everything. The buffet is also a nice option; delicious, fresh and a nice mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items that even those who eat meat (like me) can really enjoy!
CJ Montana's Update
Went to CJ Montana's a few months ago and just getting around to posting my thoughts. Quite honestly, I didn't think it was much to write home about. I do have a few friends that love it, and that's why I wanted to give it a try. I ordered a cedar plank salmon dish that came with rice and brocolli. In all honesty, the salmon was decent and the brocolli pretty good, but I think I could have made the equivalent at home. When I go out to eat, I really want something that wows me, especially if I'm paying good money for it. One of my friends had fish and chips and the other a hamburger. Both of them just commented they were OK...not amazing or stupendous or "really good" just OK.
I agree that the service was really terrific. They are extremely nice, very responsive and don't try to rush you out of the restaurant. For my money, believe it or not, I'd rather just go somewhere like Houlihan's which although it isn't a stand alone restaurant doesn't disappoint me,
Eastern Empire Lincroft
My husband and I got take out about 2 weeks ago. It was very good! We both had the Singapore Rice Noodles---I got mine without vegetables and extra spicy, he got his the regular way. Both were cooked exactly as we had asked! We also got egg rolls and the fried pork dumplings. Delicious! Portions are very good, and although they are a smidge more pricy then my more local place the taste and amount were much better.
This will be our regular Chinese place!
Ruth's Chris- Princeton
I love Ruth's Chris. Checked out the Princeton location in June for Father's Day. It was OUTSTANDING!! The service was spectacular and the food couldn't be beat. I have been to Ruth's Chris in Philadelphia (near the Theater District) about 5 time and once to the King of Prussia location. Although I never thought I would find a better Ruth's Chris the the Philadelphia location, I did with Princeton. The King of Prussia location (for a Ruth's Chris) is OK ,but I wouldn't recommend it over Princeton or Philadelphia.
I would recommend this as a special-occasion type place and leave the kids at home. It's a nice place to celebreate an anniversary or another adult-gathering.
Tandoor E India - Oakhurst, NJ
The food is absolutely outstanding. I have eaten in plenty of "up scale" Indian restaurants or places that are supposed to be some of the best in NY, Boston and even London and this place blows them away!
The buffet, while a little pricy when you first look at the cost is terrific. It's a great "introduction" to Indian food for someone who has never had it, and provides wonderful variety to those who are even vegetarian and have food restrictions.
The buffet is always consistent, tastes fresh and hot! They tend to switch up the offerings, so most times you go besides the typical staples such as tandoori chicken, rice and naan you will not find the same thing at the buffet---which is nice!
Ordering off the menu is even more delicious (as if it can get any better!). The nice thing about ordering off the menu is that you can ask for it as hot (or mild) as you like and they will cook it to your specifications. My favorite off-the-menu item is chicken shahi korma. Always delicious with just enough kick. Add some naan (and of course, the vegetable pakora appetizer to start) and this is a terrific meal. Also, delicious enough to note are the mango lassis. So sweet and just yummy!
The wait staff (generally the owner's daughter and her friends) are terrific, attentive, know how to get your order right, and never rush you. The inside decor while not glitzy (or tacky) is nice and comfortable and you can go there and just enjoy a terrific, always consistently good meal.
Bring your appetite and tastebuds---this is not a place to miss!
So much for Manow's tonite
Totally bummed Manow is gone. LOVED their red chicken curry and the golden curry puffs for an appetizer. My husand and I tried out Thai Chili in Eatontown last night and thought it was pretty good. My only complaint is that the curry didn't have any zucchini and instead had eggplant. I'm not a huge fan of eggplant being in curry.
My husband ordered his spicy. Ask and ye shall receive! Hahaha It was so hot he only ended up eating about 1/2 of it. We got the rest to go.
I really wish Manow would have picked a better location. Everything was superb, but the location was horrible. The past owner's reputation probably didn't help either. I think a lot of people just thought it was the same guy cooking Thai food instead of crappy Chinese takeout.
MANOW in Lincroft- EAT HERE
I absolutely love Manow! Eat-in or take-out are always outstanding. The food is consistently exceptional. Believe me, I have tried Thai food in a variety of restaurants from NJ to Oregon to Maine and Massachusetts! I think that Manow is probably one of the best I have tried! I love their Curry Puffs as an appetizer and always enjoy the Red Curry (with chicken) and Noodle Curry. Their spring rolls are really delicious with a nice sweet dipping sauce, and I even really enjoy their Thai Iced Teas.
I have to admit, I hope that their business does pick up. Unfortunately, it isn't located in the best spot, and I think some people may think that it's the same as the Chinese place that used to be there (which was passable, at best).
If you haven't had a chance to check it out I would highly recommend heading there! You won't be sorry.
Manow Asian Bistro - Thai in Lincroft
Manow is absolutely delicious and by far one of my favorite restaurants in Monmouth County. The food is outstanding and Cindy, the owner, is a real pleasure to see every time you are there. She actually remembers everyone's name!
I would highly recommend trying the Curry Puffs as an appetizer, and their Red Curry is outstanding. Their Curry Noodles are also delicious. Portions are very generous (I always have plenty left for a nice sized lunch the next day) and they will make the food however you like it. Their Thai Iced Teas are very sweet, yet slightly smokey and like their food, delicious!
Definitely worth checking out. Don't let the outside deceive you!
Le Peep - Shrewsbury?
Hello,
We finally went to Le Peep today after driving past it 100 times and wondering what it was like. I was pleasantly surprised by the menu, service and food---and the coffee was the best I have had in a while (I know, even something that minor made me happy). My fiance was equally as happy and I think we have found our new breakfast spot. For the two of us to eat (regular meals plus a side of turkey sausage), each having an endless pot of coffee and full stomachs with tax it came to $23.00. Now-a-days I don't think that is too bad!
Definitely worth checking out!
:-)
