Travel between Stirling and Troon in Scotland

May have found a good answer. Any comments on Braidwoods in Dairy? Appears to be on the way and a very good restaurant

Travel between Stirling and Troon in Scotland

Looking for a nice dinner in the range of $40-50 per person for this summer. Don't want to stray too far from the travel route and anything except Asian or Indian will do, I know we will go right past Glasgow but would prefer not to go into the city center. Does not have to be in Glasgow either. Any suggestions?

My list of Less Than Famous Central TX BBQ - Which ones?

Not sure I would classify Cooper's or City Market as lesser known.

Lunch in North/Northwest Austin

I also work near 620 and Parmer. If you want fried catfish, the catfish parlor is fine. They also have good blackened catfish there. Pacific Star has more variety and about the only place in this area to get seafood at a reasonable price. Freda's is another option and is a nicer place than Pacific Star. One nice thing about the Catfish Parlor is that it is fast. The service at Pacific Star can be very slow at times.

It is now April and there is no sign of a new structure. Maybe they mean May 2015. I actually miss this place as it was my go to place for decent Chinese within 10 minutes of home.

Anyone been yet? I love Titaya's but not in the mood to wait in line tonight. Looking for good Asian in the same vicinity. Anything except Sushi.

Onion Rings

A little off topic, but I have one better than that. I couple of months ago I tried to get a sandwich from Delaware Subs and they were out of bread.

Prima Pasta on W Parmer has closed. In its place is a pizza place named Mi Pizza where it appears you craft your own at a set price of $6.99. Hard to believe, but it seems you can have as many toppings as you want for the one price. Only extra charge I see is for gluten free dough or vegan cheese. Looked like it was a thin crust pizza.

Nothing fancy, but I really like The Lost Cajun on Main Street in Breck.

Omelettry

In every city there are marginal restaurants that survive on nostalgia. The I grew up eating there so it must be OK syndrome. Another one like that in Austin is just down the street - The Frisco Shop.

Spending Christmass in Austin

A little early for the annual list of what's open on Christmas. Her is something from a year ago that might get you started:

Schmidt Family BBQ

They have now been open about 3 weeks. Anyone been yet? The reviews on yelp are very spotty. I'm guessing some of the negative reviews are people going there for dinner, which is often not a good idea at BBQ joints that prepare a limited amount of food each day.

Schmidt Family BBQ website says they are opening 10/28/13.
It is right at the NW corner of Hwy 71 and 620

The Noble Pig

Talked to Brandon, one of the owners, today. The current location will close at Christmas and will re-open in their new location .6 mile to the east about January 15. The new Burnet Road store needs to obtain one final permit and the subsequent build out will take about 3 weeks. They hope to be open there by the end of November, but we all know how unpredictable that is. They were very busy at lunch time today.

Baby Watson's on 8th AV

Think I read somewhere that it was closed temporarily for renovations. Maybe it has or will re-open.

Baby Watson's on 8th AV

Two questions -

Is this place open or closed?

If open, is there seating to eat your cheesecake or is it only to go?

The Noble Pig

Just saw in the Austin Business Journal that the Noble Pig has signed a lease to relocate their 620 store. That is good news for all of us who have been frustrated with the lines and especially the parking challenge. Their new location will be Lake Creek Village shopping center. 12233 RR 620. Think that is the shopping center where there is a RC Fowlers Wing place.

French Bakery Options

I'm crazy about that place. Fantastic bread and desserts. Don't know of anything in Austin that competes.

That's too bad. They seem to have some great performers and I was looking forward to trying it on my next trip to the city since i am a big musical theater fan. My original question was motivated by wanting to know if the food was descent and worth eating there since they have a minimum anyway and I'm assuming those having dinner get better seating.

Indian Food at Home

If I wanted to prepare an Indian meal at home ( but not from scratch ), where would the be the best place in North Austin to get a prepared curry sauce. I know there are several Indian grocery stores around. We like something medium hot. Any suggestions on what to buy or where?
