One Night in San Francisco

Seeing Ferran Adria speak -one night in S.F -looking for the most exciting new restaurants

"Chef-is-always-right" restaurants [moved from Los Angeles board]

Trust the Chef

Hamburger Restaurant that grinds the meat on the premises

Thomas at Standing Room grinds in house for his burgers. Sous vides his short ribs - upscale take out food in a liquor store. Quirky and very good

A-Frame - Roy is still keepin' it real.

Good review .I love the place.I was eating at the bar last week and Roy told me last Monday was his last day cooking at A-Frame

A-Frame

Bad Restaurant Names

Chitoise in Redondo Beach

Red O open?

Heard he will be taking over Kai on Ocean in Santa Monica as a second location

California Cuisine Boring (Spago, Lucques, Gjelina, Josie, Rustic Canyon, etc...)

Boring to you - my favorite restaurants in LA - skilled cooks, fine ingredients, focused flavors

Dinner in Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Beyerly Hills at 10-11pm ?

Tasting Kitchen, Musha, Gjelina, Bar Bouchon, Bazaar

Mediocre Bouchon

Going tonight -much anticipation

Peninsula or Four Seasons Hotel - lunch banquet

Any recommendation on which to choose

Special Occasion Restaurant in the OC?

Eat dinner at Marche Moderne and Watermarc (in Laguna) this week. Both are worthy contenders

Bistro LQ

Is it fair to come to conclusions in a 'shake down' Laurent is one of the best chefs in LA., Give his restaurant time to be one of the best

Gjelina's attitude [Moved from LA board]

It would of been interesting if you had just showed up and said you were only 2. They would have seated you. You certainly should not of been penalized for your adjustment. Terrible customer service

STREET finally opens Monday

Well said, Sir

STREET finally opens Monday

Was there tonight ,first night - first night seemed totally together - she is a celebrity chef working very hard in her kitchen. Loving what she is diong. Lots of great flavors. LA to the max -Susan is one of the reasons what makes LA the food city it is today

Sick of the restaurant bottled water ripoff. Finally, someone is doing something about it

The system is a one to one ratio or 50% recovery, the water is going back cleaner then it came in and lessens the carbon foot print the sanitation district has to deal with. All water is reused not wasted unfortunately even the toilet water comes back to us as drinking water. You are not using a water softener wich throws salt down the drain and you are reducing phosphates going down drain by 50%, a much better alternative then any thing else. And yes there is an optional reclaim system simply reintroducing the discharge to irrigation or drain traps that run water constantly to reduce sewer gas the only problem is that water never gets back into the water district who dearly wants it.

Damned if you do and damned if you don't

Oh Ramsay -- Your Restaurant is F%*#$ed

I agree .I was there on Tuesday and really think Gordon needs to get in the program. He needs to do a kitchen nightmare on himself, at least show up and see what is going on .- Portioning - TOO SMALL, value - NONE, local foods -NOT, room - who desined it, - fire them . Flavor profiles -weak.
Such a brilliant chef with such great insight in creating concepts and the guru of knowing whats wrong with restaurants, it is so dissapointing . Mario you were brilliant to make Nancy your partner.

Most cocktails in the cocktail list are $17.00

Lunch at Bastide

No, bottled water is $9.00 -sparkling large Badoit .Lunch only Monday -Friday.Should mention they opened last Monday for lunch for the first time -still thinking of the asparagus with fried egg sunny side up

Lunch at Bastide

What a lovely way to spend an afternoon.$38.00 3 course lunch.Gazpacho to start - Salad Course - a melange - separate plates of Roasted Tomato and Burrata Crostini, Green Salad, a Couple of Langoustine sauteed and Asparagus Topped with Fried Egg, Sunny Side Up and Bearnaise -terrific. There are 5 choices of main courses - on the menu reads
Beef -today Short Rib. Fish -Colorado Salmon. Duck - Vietnamese Duck Sandwich - Vegetables or 3 Mini Pulled Pork Sliders. We picked the Duck and Pig Sliders both were served with a side of French Fries and Cauliflower au Gratin.Rhubard Pie for dessert.
Pieter the best sommelier in LA is there to suggest wines by the glass. We had some Gruner and Dry Riesling, also served in half glasses. Sat outside in the garden, loved dinner there- lunch just as good, felt totally decedent, best lunch in LA

Father's Office ~ Culver City, CA

12:45, arrived for Lunch. 1:10, waited in line and finally allowed inside. 1:30, finally ordered food. 2:15, Food arrives. 2:18, out of burgers. No silverware, had trouble reordering beers. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Is it hip to no longer get service? First day, maybe, but from all the blogs, I just expected something more.

Review: The Crow Bar and Kitchen - Corona Del Mar

Agree with peakay, totally disappointed with the room, no feeling of pub. Menu reads great, lots of fun , comfort, modern pub items,,very disappointing execution-
from the mussels to the scotch eggs to the sticky toffee pudding.
Great beer list. This is not a gatropub.

Citrus at Social @ Hollywood?

no caviar - just black couscous -can't stop thinking about that dish

Citrus at Social @ Hollywood?

The lobster, poached egg, couscous, squid ink dish served in a caviar tin is sheer genius.Eat at the small bar.Bartender was on top of things, making some lovely cocktails -the one with effen cherry vodka, lime, muddled white grapes and basil was terrific.

Baleen in Red.Beach

Both times were in the evening. It was a mixed bag. Nothing was wow, but its not trying to be wow. Simple steaks and fish -prices are at the top end for the area. I would order simple and you're be fine.If you are looking for a foodie experience it is not. Trump is also pretty impressive as surrondings go and view goes during the day. If they are doing brunch ,its very expensive but as good as anywhere in the city.Of course its always about the food.

Baleen in Red.Beach

I think it should do the job, not to many places open New Years Day lunch(Chart House closed for lunch). I would call the G.M of the hotel (The Portofino) and give him your concerns. It's a lovely spot, lovely view, but it can be hit or miss.If you have a good server you will have good service.
