Watermelon Juice

you should just try those boba places like lollicup or any "asian drink place" they always got it, they use real watermelon and you can ask them to add ice or not, or without sugar as well

I've been to twin palms once for dinner, it seemed pretty hectic there, any suggestions for somewhere that may have sectioned dining areas, outside? different rooms?

Brunch HELP! Bridal Party, So Bay, Beach cities, LA, Pasadena

Hello everyone,

I am in urgent need of some suggestions for some brunch places, preferably buffet, BUT it doesn't have to be. It's going to be for 13 women, for a bridal party, and I am hoping there's something w/ ideally either a nice garden, view, or area that can be more intimate, but I can definitely comprimise. =)

I've looked around and got a few great ideas, ex. Ritz = $75 and a few others. I'm worried that it may be too expensive for some of the pariticpants so I was hoping to find something under the $50 range.

Everyone's coming from different parts of LA county, some from Pasadena, couple from Redondo and a few from Irvine, so hopefully something in the south bay, westside or pasadena area would be great. Ambience is important since it is for a bridal party!

Thanks for your help!

Hawaiian Food/Caterer

L&L is pretty weak. I would try SHAKA's in Monterey Park, they have great dishes, and spam misubi. It won't disappoint.

Top 10 Tastes of California [L.A. Area]

I definitely 2nd that Soot Bull Jeep has among the best korean bbq in town. But it's hella SMOKEY, if you want something less smokey and just as good, try Cho Sun on Olympic in K-Town. It might be easier for non-korean speaking diners.

Health Conscious Chinese

I would definitely suggest DTF, most of their items there are 'steamed' type dumplings. So you miss the heavy sauce items. I've been there tons of times and LOVE it. If you order any of their shanghai style noodles or rice cakes, you can always ask them to ease on the sauce and MSG. My mom is very health conscious and my dad is diabetic, which seems to pretty common among Chinese. When we eat out, we always ask em no msg and any type of sauce on the side, we then proceed to sometimes 'wash' our food a bit w/ the tea or wipe some of the excess sauce off on a napkin.

Happy Family in Rowland and MP are both good, but since they vegetarian geared some of the dishes can be saucy.

When I was dieting and wanted 'light' chinese food, I went to DTF. Food is prepared very... intricately. If you notice the steamed veggie and meat dumplings, the meat and veggies are chopped so fine!

Definitely steer them to DTF, I mean there's only like 1 in America and it's in Arcadia.

Austin

you're not kidding $20 enchiladas! Is Cal-Mex considered more 'high end'?

I definitely miss the taco stand 'carnitas' type tacos. I'm just looking for some good enchiladas and maybe something more 'cal-mex'. I'll try out Manuel's hope it's better than El Chile. :) Thanks!

Austin

ok so i'm here in Austin from school in LA and the mexican food that i have tried is pretty disappointing. I personally thought El Chile was nothing special, though I enjoyed the shrimp nachos and margaritas. Can anyone suggest real Mexican food, maybe something more like the mexican food you can find in southern cali?
