Where to find Kibbee Nayeh (raw kibbee)

3/4 cup fine bulgar (prepared as above) per pound of lamb, 1/2 onion, salt and pepper. Running all through a meat grinder twice together works best. Add cold water to soften mixture if necessary.

Where are the bad La Voile and Angela's reviews?

To quote you " You either like it or you don't; that's all that matters". I guess that is unless you disagree...

Where are the bad La Voile and Angela's reviews?

I thought the much heralded mole sauce was a little on the sweet side, the beans and rice were average at best. My taco arabe was dripping with grease and if there was supposed to be some middle eastern flavor in there, it was lost on me. Also, I really don't enjoy eating in restaurants with water-stained drop ceilings and that have insulation hanging down - kind of a dump with a fresh coat of paint.

Anyone been to Stix in the South End?

Have to attend a get together this weekend and am wondering what to expect? I don't recall seeing one mention on this board. Thanks.

Wrapro--Mass. Ave/Porter Square, Camb.

My wife and I got some sorely dissapointing combo plates there yesterday. If you are expecting something like Reef cafe or Shwarma King, think again. The cinammon in the falafel was off-putting and the portions were miniscule.

Redbones to expand?

Yes, Both in the park and a location outside. Lower Depths tap prices are outrageous and Beer Works is great if you want a cupful of live bacteria.

Redbones to expand?

Rumor has it that they are looking into an expansion in both Fenway park and the Kenmore area. A decent tap selection in that area would be great...

Bukowski's (Inman)

Yeah, the last beer I had there was like $8.17, ridiculous. I also had the worst cuban sandwich ever once - here's hoping the revovations go slowly and cost a boatload you hipster hucksters.

East Somerville Taquerias?

Taco Loco and Tapatio both serve pretty decent El Salvaroran (I guess) style burritos that are grilled. if you don't mind the vegetable medley in the rice, they are good, good pupusas too - btw both places are nearly identical food and menu-wise.

Oleana - is it everything they say it is?

Yeah, this place is everything they say it is, as long as that is a tex-mexicized version of Middle Eastern food...

Best bar to eat dinner @

I always enjoy a bar meal at the ECG (which I migh add, has been taking a beating on the board today). Mussels, grilled bread, a couple wet bones and a few dark and stromy's to wash 'em down (maybe the tuna tartare too). You'll notice no mention of an entree, much below you $70 to boot.

Contrarian views on "popular" restaurants?

I agree wholeheartedly on Oleana, nothing special flavor-wise, sky high prices. My entree was $20 for four small pork meatballs in a runny green sauce. My DC had salmon - which was overcooked and had bland sides (Red Lobster does better).

I would add B&G, if you are going to charge me $24 for fried clams, there should be more than just strips there. Deplorable.

Tim's Tavern Burger Born Again at Cantab?

I was there last night as well - my medium rare ordered burger came out decidedly medium well. I ordered it with half rings/half fries, not a lot of either, rings were definitely better than the spuds. Not exactly Tim's, but a better than average burger.

I've heard that most Bodega's stock the cane sugar sweetened Coke - in the small glass bottles. I have never sought it out though.

Who makes good Pisco Sours?

I too was hooked on pisco sours in Peru (that English place on the square in Cuzco comes to mind) - helped by the fact that the Peruvian beers were so awful. Anise does a good one. I agree on the Harpoon beer, plus the words "Brown Session" seem to conjure up some euphemistic term for something gone horribly wrong bathroom-wise (to put it politely)

Rhode Island specialities [moved from a discussion on the Boston board]

I guess it is a passable greasy spoon. It's just that my folks live in the LC (yeah, I'm trying to make it stick) and I lament it is taking up space better filled with a decent restaurant. The johnny cakes tasted like cracked feed corn the last time I ordered them. I haven't stumbled across any other decent ones around.

Hell Night report

Thanks Sarge, I'm going tonight and will report in to base. I've noticed that both jalapenos and habs have been wickedly hot this year. I've had a few jalapenos that were hotter than your average habanero. So how bad is the afterburn this A.M.?
