Are jonny cakes only legend?
Shelter Harbor Inn on Route 1, east side of Westerly makes great jonnycakes!
Need Newport Fine Dining Suggestions
The SkyBar at the Clarke Cooke House is wonderful too.
Restaurant suggestions near Nice (Villefranche) and Bordeaux
I'm sorry I didn't check back until now! How was your trip? Enjoy anything that you'd like to share?
Bordeaux
Brasserie des Beaux Arts is great! The best cassoulet I ever had...Also, if you go to Carcassone, the restaurant in the hotel that's actually in the citadelle is wonderful. I can't remember it's name, though.
Bordeaux
Unfortunately, Château Cordeillan-Bages is closed when we go at Christmas, although it sounds exciting. I prefer more traditional southwest cuisine, though-foie gras, confits, truffes etc., especially in a cozy setting. December is a great time in Aquitaine for food, except so many places close for the "fermeture annuelle". Any other ideas?
Pick Your Own Corn?
Great to know that you can eat fresh corn uncooked.. I'll miss fresh corn on the cob...
Bleu Squid, Mystic
A terrific new cheese shop/bakery/lunch place is now open in Old Mistick Village. Good selection of cheeses, and amazing grilled cheese sandwiches. They also do a "French Picnic" with two types of chees, pate, fruit, sliced baguette and amazing mustard. Their gazpacho is also very nice. There's a little bit of awkwardness in the service, but I think that's just starting up pains. They are definitely trying to please!
Dog Watch, Stonington, CT
Yes, it is. This is a terrific new addition to the Stonington choices!
Who makes the best pizza in New England?
Pizetta in Mystic is wonderful! Thin crust, freshest ingredients-yum!

I love La cuiller en bois, from the Bordeaux area (my favorite)!

Early dinner near BC?
I had wanted to go to Oishi on Sunday, but the line was out the door, so we ended up at the MC. It's fun getting to know a new city!
Early dinner near BC?
Thanks, everyone! We had brunch at the Metropolitan Club to check it out and it was wonderful! We'll have dinner there. The sides will work well for the vegetarian, too!
Early dinner near BC?
We have to be at an event at Athletic Center at 7:00, and it's a special occasion. One of our party of 8 is vegetarian. Any suggestions?
Restaurant suggestions near Nice (Villefranche) and Bordeaux
In Bordeaux La Tupina is great for local cuisine (think fois gras!). About 15 minutes outside the city (a nice drive through the vineyards) in Saint Gervais is Au Sarment, a small and lovely place, one of my favorites anywhere! Bon voyage!
Is smokefree working in Paris?
The whole country! Some of the owners are keeping squirt guns behind the bar to douse those who try to light up!
Southwest France?
Thanks for all the ideas! We'll see what the weather's doing and head in the most favorable direction (don't you love the microclimates on the east coast of the Atlantic)? Have never been to Cheval blanc nor Freres Ibarboure-both sound promising!
Southwest France?
Thanks, Erica, Bar Andre is an old friend! I'm looking for new ones!
Southwest France?
We're getting ready for our annual Christmas trip, and wonder if anyone has suggestions? We'll be based in Bordeaux, and will visit Arcachon (is Chez Yvette still good?) Thinking about going back to La Rochelle, Cognac, Pays Basque, or the Perigord noir. I'd love to hear your suggestions. I especially appreciate low key places, with local flavors.
Bordeaux
Gearing up for our annual trip, and hoping for suggestions from all of you. Thanks in advance!I would appreciate both food and wine recommendations.
New Yorkers in Paris - price ranges
I love your hotel! It is just across the street from the metro, one with an escalator-good for the end of a long day. For bistro, there's a good one around the corner (out the door, turn right, I'm sorry I can't remember the name). For dinners, the world is your pearl-being at that metro stop makes your big splurge easily accessible! The Musee Rodin is very closeby, and romantic (see The Kiss)! Bon voyage!
What you eat at Kitchen Little?
Their pancakes of the day are wonderful if you like the ingredients and they are one of the few places that poach eggs the way I like. I agree, they have a big menu to choose from, but they are happy to customize...just ask for what you'd like. They also offer fresh herbs as an enhancement. Don't you love having the crowds gone?!
Parent's weekend
We ended up at the Barking Crab, and had a blast. The food was fine for the setting, and what's more fun than cracking crab claws with a rock? BBhound, I did get coffee and bakery from Sel de la Terre and lookforward to having dinner there! Thanks for the tip!
