You mean Argo? It's popular in Chicago, and is now opening a few stores in NY. I haven't been yet, but I hear it is good.

Fairway Shuttle

Does anyone know if there are shuttles going from the Washington Heights area to Fairway, and if so, when?

Thanks -

Fish Tacos

Thank you - I guess I'll be heading downtown. Those pictures pushed me over the edge.

Fish Tacos

I guess there's Baja Fresh in NJ, too, but that's a little sad. Fried fish tortas sound good, though!

Fish Tacos

This is a fairly dumb question, but are these not Mexican? I just spent a fruitless hour looking through all the menus for taquerias in Washington Heights/Inwood, and none of them have them. Even the places with words like 'Baja' and 'California' in their names. Are these strictly an all-the-way-downtown food?

Torta Comparison

I love the tortas at El Toro Partido at 139th and B'way, but I am thinking of branching out. Has anyone tried the tortas at Picante, or anywhere else in that general area?

Thanks-

Question about Grimaldi's

I finally made it to Grimaldi's last week - it was the one restaurant in the NY pizza pantheon that I hadn't been to, so I was very excited.

The individual components of the margarita pizza were generally good. Good sauce, pretty good cheese, nicely salted crust. The thing was, the crust was much closer to 'soggy' than to 'crunchy'.

My question: was our pie a fluke, or is that just what Grimaldi's pizza is?

Tart Cranberry Pie

I made this - unfortunately, it was kind of nasty. It made a great cranberry sauce, but the whole thing did not work as a dessert.

Ushi Wakamaru

In the summer, ask for hamo, which is flown in from Kyoto. It's hard to find in NY, and it is GOOD

Uptown Mexican

Does anyone have any recommendations (or warnings?) about any Mexican restaurants in the 130's-140's around Broadway?
I had a torta from El Toro Partido on 139th that did not disappoint, but I'm wondering about all the other little restaurants in that area.
