Taam Tov - Update?
I noticed recently that they raised their prices. Used to be you could buy a skewer of chicken, beef or lamb for $3-$4. Now it appears that every dish comes with two skewers only at $12-$13.
Any specific menu recommendations from anyone who has been there recently?
Amba
Thanks gmal1, queenscook and shoelace. But...is it sold only in Queens (LOL!)?
Any Manhattanites know where to buy the stuff?
Amba
Does anyone know where in the NYC area I can purchase ready-made amba, the delicious sour-spicy, mango-based sauce (terrific with shwarma and grilled meats)?
Alternately, does someone have an easy-to-make recipe? TIA.
Kosher Food- White Mountains, NH
Arlington Hotel is the only option. As I recall, even midweek dinners looked like shabbos meals, eg flanken, chicken soup, etc.
9 Days Menu: Best Midtown Options?
Anyone seen menus or have suggestions? Olympica Pita, Kosher Deluxe, Taam Tov, etc., etc.?
Pesach in a hotel - worth it?
$4,500+ for a family of 5 for the first days. Not inexpensive at all.
Pesach in a hotel - worth it?
Having just returned from spending the first days at a hotel in the Catskills, let me tell you that it's no picnic. Our family went because it was the only practical way my in-laws could have their grandchildren around for the seder. The food was mediocre at best, the hotel is a dump and trying to run your own seder amid the din of a huge dining room is awful. On the plus side, we had sunny weather and I had a nice bottle of Louis Royer VSOP Cognac.
Kosher Fresh Mozzrella?
Thanks all. Yes, Cappiello's is better than, say, Miller's shredded mozzarella. However, I am talking about really fresh-made mozzarella. Does any pizza shop make their own?
Kosher Fresh Mozzrella?
It really does make a difference. Anybody know where do find some? Do any of the pizza shops use fresh mozzarella? I recall that Diamante (late of East 48th St.) did for a while, but the pizza guy said that the cheese went bad too quickly. So, they had to revert to the bagged stuff.
Greenwald Caterers: Opinions?
Yes, I'm off to the Nevele and a bit apprehensive about both the hotel (visit nevelesucks.com and you will understand why) and the caterer.
Any advice about either will be appreciated, e.g. which dishes to avoid and which to pursue, etc.
Greenwald Caterers: Opinions?
I'll be away for Pesach at a hotel catered by Greenwald. Trying to know what to expect.
Passover Hotel Recommendations
Can we get a few details about Greenwald's food at the Nevele, specifically for yom tov? Also, do I need to bring my own shmurah matzoh and wine? Some places are stingy with the matzoh and don't provide quality wine.
Passover Hotel Recommendations
I'd be curious to hear reviews/experiences of the Nevele and Greenwald Caterers...
New kosher dairy restaurant in West Hempstead
Any news on when this new EJ's place is opening?
5 Towns Restaurants: Best for $20-$25 PP?
Somewhere between the fast food and fancy, shmancy joints. Specific menu recommendations welcomed. TIA!
Help with my menu for the shixas
Kishke is a must...I like seeing Smoked Salmon considered Middle Eastern...LOL!
Grill Point New Rochelle -- Reviews?
LA Hungry: Sorry to make you sick. Let's not argue about the so-called style of each of these restaurants. My point is that food is food. Who cares about style? I've found the food at Grill Point to be not terribly well-seasoned but rather bland. Also, the side dish options pale compared to what HaPisgah and Nargilah offer. Would you believe that Grill Point offers peas and carrots (I confirmed that they come frozen from a huge bag) but not the more traditional stringbeans in tomato sauce, lentils and rice (i.e. Mujadrah), etc.? Also, here is a good one: depending on what type of soda your order at your table you may receive an 8 oz bottle, 10 oz bottle or 12 oz can--all for the same price! Something wrong with that, no? As someone who frequents New Rochelle kosher establishments, and has seen more than a few go out of business because they failed to deliver quality food and service, I sincerely hope and want GP to succeed. But I need to tell it like it is...
Grill Point New Rochelle -- Reviews?
Been there a couple times and I find it OK but nothing special. Nargila in the city and HaPisgah in Queens are far better. Also, the service has been wanting. Opinions?
Phenomenal Kosher Pizza? Does it Exist?
We here in NY must have pretty low standards if J2 is considered the best...oy!
Curious why nobody has thought to open a coal/wood oven place a la John's of Bleecker Street.
Kosher Subway Now Open In...New Rochelle!
Wow! First Grill Point, now this. Suddenly, New Rochelle is the kosher capital north of NYC. Waiting for Solo's first outpost to popen there... ;)
Kosher in LAX?
Try these guys: www.kosheronwheels.com. They are LA based. They can meet you at LAX (I've used them to do just that), but delivery can be pricey.
Breakfast/Light Lunch in Hollywood/NMB/MB
Bissaleh looks to pricey. Looking for something wholesome and good, nothing fancy. TIA.
Grill Point to Cedarhurst
Actually, the real story is that the owner deviated from the building plans approved by the city. He was then forced to redo his plumbing work.
Anyone know where to buy Kosher Mole?
I don't believe mole can be kosher, as it doesn't chew its cud.
Grill Point - New Rochelle
Anybody know if the NT store did, in fact, open yesterday? Any initial reviews/comments?
Kosher butcher in Lower Westchester
Supersol in New Rochelle is closed and Syon Kosher is not under strict glatt supervision. I'm not sure who gives the hashgacha.
Kosher butcher in Lower Westchester
Yes, you can go to Supersol located in the Golden Horseshoe shopping center in Scarsdale or venture a bit further south to Riverdale Market in...Riverdale. Both are glatt.
Have you used the Spice and Spirit cookbook?
Try the recipe for the Rebbe Burger. It keeps coming back...
Grill Point - New Rochelle
Maybe you can call the New Rochelle store and have them deliver to Cedarhurst...
