KC Steak Specials - In Search of Meat on a Budget
Thanks for the tip. I've been trying to look into joining a CSA in the spring.
Your favorite recipes using chevre / goat cheese
I have made that mistake too many times. I like to use it for stuffed baby bells mushroom filling with sour cream, Worcestershire, garlic, and fresh herbs.
Or I will use it to stuff chicken boneless chicken breasts and then I will pan sear them for five minutes then put them in the oven and then brush apricot jalapeno jelly on them and finish cooking in the oven.
KC Steak Specials - In Search of Meat on a Budget
Hey Everyone,
Recently our favorite dive bar with an amazing Wednesday night steak special closed. Now I am on a quest to find all the steak specials in Kansas City. Listed below are the one's we know of so far:
The Range
Monday: All you can eat prime rib
West Port Flee Market:
MONDAY $9.99 Strip Steak .
Frick n’ Frack
Tuesday: Steak Night
Jazz:
Sunday: Cajun Rib Eye $9.99
In the great city of beef there must be more than this. Let me know if you know of more.
Thanks!
A Good Butcher
Hey there,
My dad lives in LA and is always complaining that there are no good butchers or meat markets in Southern California. If you guys know of a good butcher or meat market please post it. Thank you!
Cured meats in KC?
Saddly, the best place for that stuff is Volpie's Fine Meats on the Hill in St. Louis. In KC you can get some decent stuff but way more than I'm used to paying for it. You can get some decener proscuitto, salami, and soppresata, at Bella Napoli in Brookside or Coupini's in their deli section. I've also heard a rumor that there is an Italian grocerystore over on State Line in the shopping center accross the street fom the Gate's BBQ next to hwy 435. Good luck!
Low or no corkage? KC
Double check on Alladin Cafe. The last time we tried to bring out own bottle they said we couldn't. Good luck!

In Kansas City the must eat at places are as follows:
Westport Flee Market - Best burger
Oklahoma Joes - Best pulled pork
Blue Koy - Crazy good chinese
Souperman - Some of the the best soup in town
Frick & Frack - A dive bar with great food
Grinders - Strange but great Pizza combos
Korma Sutra - Great Indiana Buffet Lunch
Aladin Cafe - Their chicken schwarma and lentil soup are amazing.
When in St. Louis for a a game you have to check out Crown Candy Kitchen. This place is a St. Louis Landmark and has an insane amount of bacon on their BLT not to mention they have amazing Ice Cream.
Hope these help.
Anthony Bourdain in Kansas City
Yeah, that’s awesome!! I haven't heard of anyone I know that was going. My boyfriend is being kind enough to let me go without him on our anniversery. Did you all get tickets to the after event at the Bristol too?
Anthony Bourdain in Kansas City
Anyone going to his talk at the Midland Theater or his meet and greet at The Bristol in Power and Light?
KC where is your dessert spot?
My favorite in KC is Tropicana on Southwest Boulevard. They are an all in one Mexican and Latin American sweet shop. They have about 12 types of ice cream, I recommend the pine nut for the ice cream. But, I like to think their hidden treasure is their popsicles. They have I'd guess about 30 flavors there as well as various sweet rolls, smoothies, chocolate dipped bananas, fresh fruit dishes, and sweet drinks. The best part is that it is all super cheap! It's open 7 days a week and if you live in the area, you must check it out.
Birthday dinner for 5 in KC, MO
La Pizza in the crossroads might be a good place price wise, food wise, and for atmosphere. Blue Koy could be fun too. Good luck!
