Lunch near Tate modern? [London]
A walk across the Millennium Bridge and up Queen Victoria Street will take you to Sweeting's fish restaurant - open only at lunchtime and as British as it gets. Not inexpensive: see menu here http://www.sweetingsrestaurant.com/?page_id=102
Pre-theatre dining near Queens Theatre [London]
Perhaps Quo Vadis, which has a three course menu for 20GBP.
espresso machine repairs
Years ago I used Rudy's L&R Espresso Machine on West 44th Street - 212 245-4966. I don't know if they're still there, but they did good work on my then machine (an Olympia Cremina).
Midtown grocery stores?
There are Food Emporium supermarkets on Third Avenue in the mid-60s and on First between 59th and 60th. There's a smaller deli-grocery store on 59th between Madison and Park (is it called Delmonicos?). I don't know that this is something that would interest you, but there's a Japanese grocery (Katagiri) on 59th between Second and Third - where there's also a good pastry shop, Financier.
Sunday lunch by Tate Modern + Nice dinner in Mayfair [London]
For your Mayfair meal, you might consider eating in the hotel: Alyn Williams at the Westbury. The Square is nearby, as are Murano and indeed le Gavroche.
RUGALACH
The bakery that used to be called "Not Just Rugelach" (I too have forgotten its new name) is also at the East 47th Street and Second Avenue Greenmarket on Wednesdays (all year round). Good honest rugelach.
Paris salons de thé open in the morning
No, coffee and pastries. And an excellent breakfast, for us, is excellent pastry - which can be viennoiserie or fancy pastry.
Thanks.
Paris salons de thé open in the morning
Greetings. I know that some good pastry shops, such as Dalloyau and Laduree, have tables, chairs and coffee machines. Many, however, do not. Could someone name a few in central Paris where we could have an excellent breakfast? Many thanks.
Post-theater dinner - Palladium
You might consider the dining room at the St John Hotel off Leicester Square; they serve till midnight.
Early - or VERY late - meal in Versailles
Thanks for all that - I should have mentioned that we are spending the night in Versailles, precisely so we won't need to worry about transportation, though I can see that this will give us no advantage supper-wise.
Early - or VERY late - meal in Versailles
In March we are attending an 8 p.m. concert at the Chateau de Versailles. It is expected to end late, at 11:30. Any ideas for where we can eat at, say, 6 p.m. - or at midnight? Could be plain or fancy, so long as it is good.
Where to find Nduja?
On Eataly: Last time I asked (perhaps four weeks ago) I was told they don't sell any 'nduja.
Where to find Nduja?
Buon'Italia (Chelsea Market) and Murray's (Grand Central Terminal - don't know about Bleecker St.) both have it. Buon'Italia's is spicier. I bought some at Murray's just the other day; they may have just been out of it when you checked.

Best milk?
I like the milk from Tonje's: a little more flavorful than Milk Thistle (which is also very good - and which you can buy in stores, including WholeFoods). Tonje's is at the Union Square farmers' market on Saturdays.

Looking for a range with a broiler above the rangetop.
A simple, inexpensive option might be to install a stainless steel shelf at the desired height and place a good toaster-oven on it.
What's good in the Islington neighborhood of London?
Thanks for those suggestions, ultimatepotato and ManInTransit. Oddly, I hadn't thought of Ottolenghi - a useful reminder.
What's good in the Islington neighborhood of London?
To refine this query a little: When we're in Islington (visiting from New York) it is generally because we are going to the Almeida Theatre. Of the recommended dining options, which might be open late enough for post-theatre supper? Thanks.
Buy fresh duck breast in Lower Manhattan?
Or Dickson's Farmstand Meats in Chelsea Market.

Where to go for drinks before dinner at Jojo?
You might consider the bar at Le Caprice in the Hotel Pierre (Fifth Avenue and 61st).
Where can I find gooseberries in NYC?
There were some at the Union Square Greenmarket on Saturday.

English Sparkling Wine in London
Even closer, you might want to phone the new Gilbert Scott in St. Pancras Station to check on their list. I know they offer at least one English sparkling wine by the glass; perhaps they have others too.
Good Food Shopping near 88th and York
There are two small farmers' markets in the area: 82nd between 1st and York on Saturdays, and 1st Ave between 92nd and 93rd on Sundays, though the latter doesn't get under way until mid-June. See http://www.grownyc.org/files/gmkt/map.pdf .

Anyone been to Mille Feuille Bakery-Cafe in the village?
The quality was excellent; selection limited for now; service dreadfully slow and tentative.
In Search of Nicola Potatoes
Paffenroth Gardens does indeed grow them. But any they might have now will be stored from last season, and you might be better of waiting for the new crop (though they do store their produce very well).
Looking for fresh from-the-farm chicken ...
Dickson's Farmstand at Chelsea Market has excellent chickens from PA, delivered freshly killed a couple of times a week. I've come to like these even more than those from Violet Hill.

cookwarenmore.com - experiences?
My experience with Cookware and More - over many years - has been excellent. I once received a warped pan and it was replaced cheerfully and speedily; otherwise everything has arrived with only the minor kinds of cosmetic flaws that I would have inflicted within ten minutes anyway. I've bought all my All-Clad from them for a very long time.
not too expensive between Chelsea (23rd st. or so) and Penn Station for an 89 year old but cosmopolitan grammy
You might think of Co. on Ninth Avenue near 23rd - various things on toast followed by pizza. I haven't been to Txikoto, near by, but it could be a possibility too.
