deli boss in roslyn
went when they first opened. seemed like it is only take out. it is over priced.I do not know how the rest of the food is but the the potato knish was very oily.
will be at the snack and candy expo-what candy/snacks do you want to be kosher?
various chewing gum, sour patch candy, tootsie roll lollipops,
Big Brand names going kosher
Twinkies, Pop tarts, and Tootsie Rolls (chocolate, not the multi-colored ones). I ate them as a child , before I became kosher. If they do become kosher, I wonder if they would taste the same as they way I remember them.
Anyone use Ackerstein Caterers in West Hempstead?
I have been to numerous dairy affairs catered by Ackerstein Caterers. Richie Austein, owner/manager does a very professional job. The food is excellent. I would highly recommended. You won't be disappointed.
kosher bubble gum tape measure
I think I saw it near a check out line at Shop Delight, a new kosher grocery store, in Great Neck. You can give them a call.
former 5 Towns Deli location
I agree with eatgood. It is the place and what it has to offer, not the location. People shop at Brach's, very close to this location. has the place been rented/sold?
Midori Japanese restaurant in Hewlett
Midori Japanese restaurant in Hewlett is looking to become glatt kosher. anybody have any info?
Dairy King in New Hyde Park now Bagel Boss!
terrific! I did not like Dairy King at all. I enjoy most of the items that Bagel Boss has to offer, except for their baked goods. I do not understand why their food is so good, but their cakes, cookies, etc. are horrible.
Kosher Organic Toaster Pastries at Costco
Many years ago, I ate the REAL pop tarts. When the kosher version came out several years ago, I was so excited. Sadly, the kosher ones do not taste like the real thing... too bad. Now, I am hoping tootsie rolls, from the Tootsie Roll Company, become kosher. Those were good.
Hostess Snack cakes
I have seen some Hostess mini 100 calorie packs are now OU. Does anybody know if their TWINKIES will be under OU supervision?
Chalak beit yosef meat in NYC area
I & D Glatt Kosher Butcher in West Hempstead (516-489-6926) and in Brooklyn has beit yosef meat. They deliver.
mishloach manot themes
I feel the same way. Not to mention, the money should be better spent on matanos levyonim... (but, I will admit I somewhat enjoy the themes and people's creativity).JEP and/or NCSY collected the junk food and used them as incentives for the children that they are involved with. At least one shul in the area had a bin available to collect the food. Guidelines were set (e.g., no opened packages). If you received full packages (e.g., box of cookies, crackers, etc.) may be Tomchei Shabbos would take it. The children of those in need would surely appreciate some treats.Let us know who takes the items.
New kosher dairy restaurant in West Hempstead
Went to EJ's Too tonight (grand Opening was yesterday). It was packed (@75 people). lot of assortment of pizzas, calzones, Israeli food, fish, salads, frozen yogurt, etc. food was pretty good. hope it continues to be busy and successful. West Hempstead needed this dairy place- a larger space, open later at night, open Saturday nights, a wide menu of good tasting food. Now, West Hempstead is ready to support a good quality (not greasy) meat fast food place that has schwarma, shishkebab, burgers, deli, steaks, hearty soups, etc.
Kosher Food & Wine Experience
How was the food? I recall that someone on this board wrote that last year there was not enough food.
Carlos & Gabby's in Cedarhurst
The food is just ok, bordering on bland. The hot sauce is what gives it "flavor." The food should be tasty and the sauces accentuate the food. Here , the sauce has taste, but the food does not. The red , white (yellow), and blue complementary tortilla chips have NO taste. But, are full are food dye, I am sure. There was a good Mexican place in Great Neck a few years ago, in the Shish Kebab Palace location. Their food was much better.
New kosher dairy restaurant in West Hempstead
The sign said a restaurant. I was hoping for a nice , casual dairy restaurant, not another pizza shop. How will 2 pizza stores survive?
New kosher dairy restaurant in West Hempstead
On Hempstead Avenue in West Hempstead (NY) (a few stores away from the I &D kosher butcher, take-out and grocery store), I saw a sign for a kosher dairy restaurant (EJ's --?) coming soon. Does anyone know anything about it?
Grill Point to Cedarhurst
perhaps they should put out an ad about when, and if, they are opening. too many rumors flying. also, I am losing my enthusiasm for its grand opening.
Cedarhurst Changes
Smokey Joe's would be nice. Perhaps an Indian restaurant or a better Mexican place in the 5 towns. I think we have enough Israeli, pizza , and sushi options.
Kosher Hibachi?
thanks for the info. I just want on their website. I am not enticed by their menu options. Rather, eat out somewhere else for a fraction of the price. too bad. I was expecting a different menu.
Orbit Peppermint gum
I am looking for the kosher Orbit peppermint gum in the 10 piece packet (not sticks). I looked in the 3 major kosher supermarket/butchers in the 5 Towns. Has anyone seen it? Any suggestions for another brand to use as a replacement?
Kosher Hibachi?
would love to see a kosher hibatchi place. need some different dining options!
good quality kosher frozen chicken nuggets
I, too, am looking for a brand that has white meat and is a little healthier. I think Of Tov without the sesame in the breading ,is horrible. I just threw out the remainder of the package. It tastes and smells like fried hot dogs.
best place in nyc for upscale meal
looking for a classy, moderate to highly priced place anywhere in nyc for mainly chicken and some beef eaters. group is not big on steak. not looking for a deli or persian food. thanks

will be in nyc at this time. looking for recommendations for a nice glatt kosher restaurant that will be open on these days.
Hunki's in West Hempstead
I hope Hunki's changes its pizza recipe. It has too much cheese and I do not care for their sweet tomato sauce. I do wish that the pizza store remains open. In regard to Wing Wan, I consider it good take- out Chinese;it is not truly a restaurant. There is no comparison to Wing Wan and the Chosen Village and Chosen Island. Getting back to the West Hempstead community, I would like the new butcher shop I & D Glatt to be successful.
