Solomons Island/Calvert County Dining
Cross the bridge into Calvert.......Jerrys Place in Prince Frederick.......Stoneys in Solomons....
Driving from DC to Philadelphia
Chaps pit beef........north of the Baltimore tunnels.....
Irish Red Lemonade
It seems to be on the drinks menu at Restaurant Eve in Alexandria......you might want to give them a call......and see where they get it from.....
Cinnamon Raisin Bread
Still looking for the best Cinnamon Raisin Bread in the DC-Balt area -- a worthy successor to the Dorotheas Bread loaves (that closed in Baltimore over 10 years ago). Montgomery County and beyond -- whats good these days??
Upper Crust Pizza -- Penn Ave
Had lunch today at the UCP. Gotta tell ya, this is one great slice. No joke. Crispy, great ingredients, not greasy. Excellent -- I will be back.
Eataly To Open In DC During 2012
My vote is for the Old Post Office on Pennsylvania Avenue.....
Graeters at Fresh Market in Vienna!
Just to be clear. Fresh Market only carries four Graeter flavors......not the whole line
Solomons Island/Calvert County Dining
I was at Stonys Kingfisher on Friday..........ugh........
Eataly To Open In DC During 2012
No.......it is at Madison Square (23rd St. and Fifth Avenue).......
Eataly To Open In DC During 2012
Well, here comes some more NYC restuarant/food innovations. Mario Batali confirmed this today in a Huffington Post story.
Hill Country BBQ coming to DC
The food is excellent........but pricy........a good representation of central Texas barbeque.......compares well to Rudys.......
Hill Country BBQ coming to DC
Had lunch there today (Sunday) -- opened at 3PM, waited maybe 15 minutes.....
I was impressed -- they seemed to have their act together......the food prep was excellent......
Had lean brisket, geman potatos, mac n cheese........all delcious and cooked correctly....
Hope they can keep up this level of quality food and service......
A bit pricey -- but a good representation of Lockhart/Hill Country/Austin style barbeque
Hill Country BBQ coming to DC
I was in the Houston area during the weekend and enjoyed excellent barbeque at a Rudys restaurant. Have to say (based on my extensive experiences) that Hill Country is about 75% as good -- but the NYC prices are way out of bounds. Hope the DC prices are more reasonable.
Bobbys Crabcakes -- What Happened?
Went to Bobbys in Rockville Town Square yesterday for it early dinner -- and it was closed and dark. Next door store employee said it has been for a few weeks..........Anyone know if it's gone?
NYC Shake Shack to DC
The best burger in America is In N Out -- they are expanding to Dallas next year. Go...
About to move to D.C. from Austin. Will need TexMex, Fajitas, and BBQ
In terms of BBQ......you have my deepest sympathy.....I regularly travel to Lockhart for the real stuff....
But we will shortly be getting a reasonable facsimile to Smittys/Kruez in the Penn Quarter area......called Hill Country......
This is an NYC restaruant that patterns itself on the Lockhart style.......not bad....
They will be opening in DC during the fall......I suspect.....
Other than that.......there is Chaps pit beef in Baltimore......and Bear Creek BBQ in Southern Maryland......
Need Southern MD help
Solomons Island has two Stoneys for best crabcakes in Maryland -- pier location and dock location -- both great.
St. Marys has Bear Creek barbeque in Callaway -- no need to go anywhere else
Ruddy Duck in Solomons is a good local brewpub
Coalfire Pizza Kentlands
Went last night to the new Coalfire Pizza -- hands down, the best thin crust pizza Ive had in a long time. Service was good too, and the restaurant atmosphere was an added plus. Wife and son had the Chicken Wings for an appetizer. This was a strange dish -- roasted chicken wings (no sauce) loaded with grilled onions. Not a good thing. But the pizza was great. Definitely a winner.

Houstons in Rockville Closing!!!
Turns out that the landlord cannot come to terms with the restaurant on a new lease. Last day open is sometime in mid-December. A big loss for traditional American foodies in MoCo. Great place overall.
Coal-Fired Pizza in Ellicott City open
Where the former Kentlands Beer and Wine used to be -- next door to Blockbuster and the Party Store -- same shopping center as Giant
Coal-Fired Pizza in Ellicott City open
I see a sign here in Kentlands Squae that Coal Fire Pizza is opening......the sign has the same logo as the Ellicot City restaurant.........guess they must be doing well, if they are going to expand.....
Hill Country BBQ coming to DC
I've had mixed impressions with Hill Country in NYC.........very expensive.....inconsistent food.....
C. Palmers or Capital Grill
Cap Grill definitely the more traditional choice......if traditon is what you are looking for during this nite out
