Restaurants with unusual decor/christmas food/Vegetarian restaurant
I can recommend the Vegan Rootmaster bus, which is in London's East End. You eat on the top floor of a double decker bus - it's great fun & the food is pretty good. Nearby is Le Trois Garcon, a French restaurant decorated with lots of stuffed animals, draped in jewellery. Pretty weird but memorable, very popular with fashion designers. As for British traditional food, the new Terence Conran restaurant, also in Shoreditch, does British food and as it's a cafe style restaurant the prices are reasonable.

Chez Liline, Finsbury Park, London
Hi Limster, I have been to Jai Krishna a lot when I used to live in Finbury Park... I loved it. All vegetarian & you write out your own order on a piece of paper. The curries and potato dishes are really good, as are the samosas and desserts. I took my dad there, who is a meat and three veg man, and he didn't miss the meat at all...
St. John or Bread & Wine
St Johns proper is a formal dining experience, I've only been once but I found it a bit sterile (although with a group it might be more fun). Bread & Wine is much more relaxed, and it's just near brick lane, so good if you are there for a Sunday when the Spitalfields markets are on... I'm still not convinced by the bone marrow salad though....

London for three days......
Brick Lane is worth visiting, lots of great little shops and a lively atmosphere, but the restaurants can be hit and miss. Better off going there to look around and then walking ten minutes to whitechapel and going to Tayyabs for a great meal – but try to arrive early (like around five or six) or the queues are too long. It's worth it, though. Visit tayyabs.co.uk to find out more about the place. And be sure to order the lamb chops!
London- Good Pub for Sunday Lunch, Hackney?
Oops I meant The Royal Inn on the Park in Victoria Park. I was there over Easter and it hadn't had a fire. The roast beef was really good though.
London- Good Pub for Sunday Lunch, Hackney?
I quite liked the Pub on the Park in Victoria park... really nice roast dinners. There's also the prince arthur in London fields, and the new London FIelds pub on mare street, which i haven't tried yet....
London restaurant recommendations
Cafe du Marche a bit blah? Hmmm not in my books - to me it's understated and authentic. I guess that's blah to some people. And Zuma is Japanese so I am assuming they are open to food other than British.
London restaurant recommendations
Yes Moro can get noisy and needs to be booked ahead - open for lunch too. Cafe du Marche is more intimate/romantic and does a fantastic cote du boeuf to share with salad and frites - the set menu is around £33 a head. Unfortunately unless you are going for something like turkish, pakistani or vietnamese, the good restaurants in London are all pretty pricey. Some good deals around for pre-theatre menus such as Wild Honey or Arbutus, mentioned above.

Both Moro and Cafe du Marche are great for a special meal. Moro is Spanish/Moorish and has a lovely atmosphere; Cafe du Marche is French - beautiful room etc. More reviews on http://eastlondonlocal.wordpress.com
