Most of my favorites have been named already in this group but this one I liked because of the images and straight to the point format . Unfortunately hasn't been updated in a long time

keep the coupon and if they re-open elsewhere you can hand it out to them. If they are smart they will not refuse your coupon.
Five Guys Burgers - Coming to Montreal !
In montreal many other options like "burger de ville" on st-laurent. A much tastier burger.
5 guys is too expensive in my book. Good burger but nothing amazing.
Five Guys Burgers - Coming to Montreal !
That is supposed to be the way they do things. Now is this one a franchise? Often franchisee will cut corners.

I had souvlaki there once and it was right there with restaurant casa grec on the wall of shame.

The best place for smoked meat
@Catroast: I know I did get that kind of annoying result at main and schwartz. a few times.
But please don't be shy and ASK them to give you another sandwich. Depending on the cut and what is left I noticed that no matter where you can get a off piece of meat.
The best place for smoked meat
Correct me if I'm wrong but steaming the meat is not part of the smoking or cooking process. Steaming is done as the last step before being served. The pieces of meat sitting in the display window at schwartz or main have not been steamed yet.
If you do the test there's nothing more disgusting than eating a piece of cold smoked meat that spent the night in the fridge. Once you steam it, you get pretty close to the same texture as buying it freshly cut of the steamer.
The best place for smoked meat
Where was that at the main or on the main? in another word at the S place or the M place?
World's best sandwich is from Montreal and not what you are expecting, but close...
Big News indeed! 292 like on facebook and 157 tweet.
That makes it a official list for the BEST in the world? Are you kidding me?
Great PR for Montreal but how about a real poll and not a chef"s suggestion.
How about we start a chowhound list of the Best sandwiches in the world?
Le Roi Du Taco (El Rey del Taco) marché Jean-Talon
I don't know about king but I find them pretty expensive for the they serve.
The best place for smoked meat
hmmmmmm great how toxic is that! Shocked and disapointed to hear this in a way. Was that the traditional way to do it 50 years ago?

what are you saying? Do they use those chemical liquid smoke? If so, this would be a scoop that could just destroy their reputation.
If I say RUE Jean-Talon OUEST (west) between DECARIE and St-Laurent in Montreal
you go there regularly and it's not your choice? Okay did you marry my wife's sister. lol
You must try nostos on acadie for greek food. great chicken, great pork souvlaki and the gyros was really good also. They all have flavors. Panama was all bland.
As for la Sirene, they were so cheap like 10 years ago and now they moved to the mid-upscale prices. They have to tweaks things but they are not a terrible place at all to eat.
As for attitude I always had good service but a little on the too much side. Like it wasn't natural if you know what I mean. Not forced warmness but a bit too much.

I must recommand this new discovery that I decided to try today. Great Samosa and Great dish called chaat samosa. I haven't tried their sweets yet.

Punjab Sweet: So cheap and so good!
I ordered take out at curry and naan now called Chand.....something. They told me it will be ready in 15 minutes so I went outside and decided to go in at the old pushap place now called PUNJAB SWEET.
I saw a giant of a man order a plate of chick peas and samosa. I asked him and he said it's called Chaat Samosa but he orders it with the samosa on the side not mixed in it.
He was charged 3$ for the plate and he took 4 samosa his total was 5$.
I took a chance and ordered the same stuff he did for my lunch tomorrow.
I went to check on my order next door and it wasn't ready. So I started to be hungry and went back outside and took a bite of the samosa I had in the bag and it was just fantastic tasting with just a little bit of heat. The crust was very crispy. A really above average samosa in my book.
When I got home I was curious to try the chick peas plate with the other stuff I ordered.
That dish is called chaat samosa was out of this world with great flavors. And it's more than enough for a meal for a huge 3$
My wife ate the rest so I have no lunch for tomorrow.
I must say that the man behind the counter is very nice and friendly. And the Bug giant customer also was very nice to explain a few things to me.
You can eat on premises but it's not a restaurant more liek cafeteria sitting. They are set up as a sweet shop. They should advertise their food because, with curry and naan, it was among the best flavors than many of the indian/pakistani around jean-talon.

Smoke's Poutinerie? Anyone been?
Cheese curds (fromage en grais), the original chesse used for poutine, are not supposed to melt. If you don't hear the sweek swqeek and it does melt it's not original poutine cheese.

@JFPRIEUR: Give me a break will you about la Sirene. Bland fish store?!? are you serious?
What happened to you with them to hate it so much?!?
I don't know if it was you on another thread but I asked what is your favorite lebanese restaurant? I need to find a great LEBANESE place please (no fast food),
La Sirene is expensive but they're not in milos price range neither.
Saying to avoid la Sirene is telling people what/where they should eat or not.
Not telling them the reasons doesn't help the reader.
They have some decent food even if they're not great at everything. I love their hummus and chicken. I hate their watery taboule and spicy fatouch without olive oil. Love their shrimps mixed with their own concoction of spice (got to find out that recipe). They need to hire a chef that knows how to grill and cook fish. And a chef for salds and taboule.
On the other side my experience at panama a few years back was plenty of food but tasteless and bland from salad to meats. Have they improved? Would give them another try one day to see where they stand.

Is Curry & Naan changing name or their sign since their real name was never C&N ?

believe me $$$$ is stronger than Halal. If they need to make more of the other god they will convert ; ) lol
But I think the restaurant on the corner of J-T and Acadie Motti mahal has a Halal sign but also is a BYOW if my memory is correct

What's so great about Schwartz's?
Maybe but It's a hit and miss with smoked meat no matter where, no matter who. Once at main I received a sandwich that was textured liker sand paper. I told the waiter that that one was a really bad one and he apologized and got me another medium one.
Ohh bythe way did you guys notice how nice, friendly and smiling the staff is now. Celine must have given them a pep talk. Thank you Celine !

I agree great food but sadly no bring your own wine option or any alcohol sold. They would do very well if they added that option.
You Wanted The Best, You Got The Best! The BEST Chinese Food In MTL: New Dynasty
Sorry to come uninvited to YOUR thread. lol
They have salt and pepper shrimps!
Their wonton soup was very good but haven't been there in a few years.
They are also famous for their new year eves brawls. I don't know if it's an annual event now.
They are open late on week end until 4 or 5 am
very good choice
Do I get a free soup if I say they are the best? ;)
What's so great about Schwartz's?
Speaking of what's so great? Not a good batch of smoked meat this past week end. We went there with friends visiting Montreal and my meat were spiceless. That was a first at Schwartz! Usually I can't stand their sandwich because it to salty but I tried a few slices form my wife's plate and they tasted nothing like usual. Someone ran out of the secret spices I guess.
Nouveau Hellas.
Okay we need to find out then. Does new name = New owners?
Who will have a meal there as a "ginea pig"
I will think about it!
Who stole La Merveille du Vietnam - unacceptable food!
@HGF: Are we talking about New Dynasty on Clarck south of rene-levesque?
It would be less confusing to start a thread for them.
I think they deserve their own thread, love their wonton soup.
