Where can I buy fresh ravioli sheets in LA? I don't feel like rolling out my own dough have some amazing lobster ready to be stuffed! Whole Foods and Cube only has fresh lasagna sheets which are too thick. Thanks!

Best Burgers in Los Angeles

Apple Pan is the best burger in LA. The Counter is design your own so not that amazing in my opinion. Try Apple Pan and get fries extra crispy! Cash only, counter-style.

Looking for Foodie Spots along the 5 and the 101!

Hi! I'm driving to Los Angeles to San Francisco along the 5, and returning on the 101. Looking for fresh fruit & veggies along the way, cool stops with great food like Chris' Market or Harris Ranch type places and also hole in the wall farmers stands, things like that. Or Historical spots of interest. Something to make the drives more interesting. Please help!

Italy Report: Rome, Siena, Positano

Just got back from an amazing trip to Italy at the end of May! I studied Chowhound for weeks figuring out where to eat and am happy to report back on all of my amazing meals. Sorry I don't remember all the names exactly but they should be enough to lead you in the right direction.

Rome
To Do:
*The farmers market at Campo De Fiore was amazing, we went almost every morning. Open 6am-2pm Monday through Saturday. While you're there, go to Antico Forno Roscioli for the best Pizza Biancha in town. Via dei Chiavari 34.
*Go to Trastevere one night to hang out and eat pizza. A lively neighborhood with pizza for days. Dar Poeta on Civolo del Bologna is supposed to be good although I didn't go there. I went to Paris which was recommended highly on Chowhound - yes it was good but it wasn't my best meal. I would have rather tried a bunch of pizzas.

Dinner
Vladamiro Marcellos - 37 Via Aurora near Spanish Steps. Great for a big group. Tell them to bring you what they want and it's a feast. Lots of Americans though. The meat (veal?) is the most popular dish

Colline Emiliane was our favorite restaurant by far. We went several times and ordered the homeade pastas and the braised beef was out of this world. A MUST.

Gelato
San Crispino near the Trevi Fountain
Gelateria Dei Gracchi was also amazing - no tourists in sight - it's on the Vatican side of the river.

Coffee
Sant Estachio is the best coffee in Italy - near the Pantheon.

SIENA
We ate at Trattoria Papei on Piazza Del Mercato which is absolutely delicious. Famous for meat. Make a reservation in advance.

Buy Martelli dried pastas in the bright yellow bag

If you're driving around the Chianti region, a MUST is Dario Checchini's butcher shop and restaurant 'Mac Darios' in Panzano. Order the tasting menu of different meants or get a burger. Amazing!!

Monika Iris is the best foodie tour guide. She'll make your trip very special www.monikairis.com

POSITANO
To be honest I didn't love the food in Positano although by the end of our trip we did find a few good restaurants. The tomatoes certainly stand out they are so sweet and delicious! Restaurante Max is supposed to be great but we didn't go. On the beach, Buca di Beppi(?) was great and is a Michelin 1 star restaurant. For an extra special treat, make a reservation at Don Alfonso it's about a 30 min drive each way. It's supposed to be the best restaurant in Italy and is very expensive. We didn't go but we will next time.

About 5 minutes walk from the train station in Naples was the best pizza I have ever had. It was to die for. I think it was called Da Michelle(?) We ordered a large margherita and ate it on the train back to Rome. Perfecto!!

Ideal Rome & Siena Itinerary?

Thanks so much!!! Greatly appreciated

Ideal Rome & Siena Itinerary?

mbfant I was hoping you would reply, you are my favorite Italian chowhound! I am reading all of these posts and am simply overwhelmed. Can you tell me your top 4 favorite restaurants for lunch and dinner in all of Rome (including one night in Travestere) - then I can stop this madness and just go where you tell me. I don't really want to spend more than 50 Euros/person anywhere - I just want great antipasti/cheese, pasta, and fish. For our last night in Rome at the end of our trip I'm thinking of taking your advice and staying on the Aventine Hill - so your best of the best restaurant recommendation for our last night in that neighborhood would be super helpful. Thanks!

Ideal Rome & Siena Itinerary?

Thanks so much. We were planning on a Friday for Testacchio, is it open on Fridays? I was thinking the Campo Di Fiore market originally but I keep reading on these boards that Testacchio is better. Thanks for the heads up about the picnic foods.

The antique market I read about was Underground - Via Francesco Crispi, 96, Rome Saturdays 3pm-8pm

Dinner at Roscioli - is that amazing? Better than Paris? Or I was also considering Dar Poeta. I'm so overwhelmed!
