Best (take-out) Pastries in NYC?

A sunday tradition is take-out pastries every sunday, yet getting a bit bored with even spectacular places like Maison Kayser, Francois Payard, and Bouchon. Once I went to Eataly as well.

Any other really spectacular (French) places? Thx

Fun new restaurants in London?

Looking for fun "new" restuarants, perhaps something similar to Balthazar. Has anyone tried Jean George Spice market? Something lively with a buzz ... and also good food! Thanks in advance

Michelin restaurant for Saturday lunch?

Thanks and glad I started such a discussion! So I booked Le Cinq this Saturday and on the suggestion of another board, Market on Sunday ...

... and now I realized I used "Michelin" in a much too casual way. It was a desired level of service and cuisine I desired, yet if anyone has a better suggestion than Market for Sunday I am open. As Le Cinq will presumably be quite formal, maybe something more casual and lively would be desired.

Great (or good) restaurant in Orly Airport?

Will be starving when we arrive -- need to board flight at 1:30pm. Is there a place that serves great (or at least good quality) food at Orly airport in Paris? Much appreciation.

Sunday Brunch in London

Hello everyone - may be a little late, yet considering a late brunch today. Have been to Tate, now considering Pollen Street Social where I have been for dinner but not brunch.

Any other suggestions for a lively ambiance and good cuisine? Thanks

Dinner in LV next Saturday

Hello everyone! I'm looking for a fun, upbeat, trendy restaurant - price is not really an object yet a really fun space (and good food) is.

Been to Guy Savoy and many of the other top restaurants from five years ago. Also Mix. Staying at Aria so to avoid cab lines perhaps something there or Bellagio ...

Thanks in advance.

Fun Upscale restaurants in 15th arrondissement

Hello everyone - I will be at a hotel in the 15th arrondissement for dinner (alone) Saturday and lunch with a friend on Sunday. Pretty comfortable dining alone, yet really would like an upbeat atmosphere with good food, formal or possibly informal.

Sunday open to anything yet again, prefer an upbeat atmosphere. Thanks in advance for suggestions ....

In Portland this Sunday Night - fabulous seafood restaurant (uspscale or lively)

Is there a great seafood restaurant in Portland that is fun and lively? We are at the doubletree yet can take a cab anywhere, thanks!

Looking for lively fun Manhattan restaurants

Hello everyone! I go to the same places all the time and am hoping to try new/different versions of the same?

Below are some of my favorites ... if you have some suggestions for similar (yet different) places that would be great. Most of these "likes" are based on ambiance more than food.

Also some French bistros would be great, thanks in advance.

Michelin Restuarants (preferably lunches) in South of France

Hello worldly gourmets! A few years ago I was in the Languedoc and had the luxury of a true gourmet who recommended a dozen restaurants within the region with Michelin stars - most of them we visited for lunch.

We are located near Nice with easy access to restaurants in this region, including Italy.

Would anyone be willing to recommend some fabulous restaurants, preferably open for lunch?

Thanks in advance.

Suggestions for Villefranche-sur-Mere (near Nice?)

I will be attending a language school in this tiny town -- in the fullness of time I'll surely create a list of good restaurants, yet if you have been here and have any suggestions, much appreciated (I won't have a car ...)

Feedback on London Restaurants

Thanks for the Ducasse warning! I was surprised by the National Portrait Gallery because the same foodie recommended it that recommended the Tate. I've been to Marcus Waring and agree!

Feedback on London Restaurants

Thank you to all who gave me feedback on ´trendy´London restaurants. i discovered i really do not care for trendy all that much yet had a fab time at ...

1 opera tavern. it was a bit too casual and crowded yet the servers were charming and the experience fun. i was there alone and it was great

2 Tate Modern both the first and seventh floor. Food outstanding. Fun and lively.

3 National portrait gallery. View good yet cuisine was shockingly not the qualitty expected.

4 Helene Darroze at the Connaught fabulous experience and of course expensive. Maybe 400 with wine. Very rich food. Slightly pretentious. Beyond the price, it is the kind of place one really only wants to go every few years.

5 Pollen Street Social was fun! Expensive wine list and just okay starters yet very good main courses and a fun crowd. next time I would have the tasting menu and go early ... we were seated very late

6 Texture was my favorite restaurant in addition to the Tate Modern. Really creative cuisine and exciting flavors. most people had the tasting menu yet our ten o´clock reservation made that impractical.

Next month I will try Ducasse at the Dorchester ... any other suggestions ... I no longer care about trendy especially if that translates to crowded ...

London: Fun, lively dinner and lunch spots?

Hello everyone ...

... I love the energy of Nobu yet go there on every visit and am a bit tired of it. While the cuisine does not have to be sushi, a really fun, lively, upbeat atmosphere would be great. Suggestions needed for both Saturday and a "good" Sunday restaurant (though Wollesley is a fav).

Visiting Texture on Friday ...

What about Lunch for both Saturday and Sunday? Something inside a museum would be great too. Same descriptors of lively and upbeat.

Much appreciation!

Corkage fee 'free' nights

curious what is appropriate when restaurants offer nights like sun or Monday when guests can bring their own wine.

Extra cash for somm or add gratuity of 25 to 30 percent of bill . . .

Thx in advance!

Trendy fun lively upscale restaurants in Manhattan from (jaded?)

Hello everyone, many of my fav restaurants (Le Bernardin, Gilt) are closed for this time period and a bit bored with other favs since we go so often with clients (Jean-Georges, Restaurant Daniel) ...

... and besides that, thinking that the Birthday Boy would prefer a lively fun atmosphere than a solemn experience.

Considering Blue Hill (been once for a private lunch) yet this may not be festive enough.

Already booked Beauty and Essex for the night before ...

STK in the meatpacking is allways lively ... yet curious for some new places. Thanks in advance.

Entertaining Euro Client upscale Manhattan restaurant/club/lounge

... very appreciative of some advice! Early 30's Euro client (married with kids, but big night in New York so ...) thinking he would like more of a "scene" restaurant than place like Restaurant Daniel or Le Bernardine.

Top execs including myself (4 to 5 people) so thinking ...

1. Drinks at Boom Boom room (they are 'open to public' until 10, close for private clients at 11

2. Dinner at a later happening spot at ten, which unfortunately means later night place like Pastisse in meatpacking etc. which is limiting ...

Or maybe 6-8 pm drinks then a fab dinner place

I got this list from a woman in the "scene" -- thoughts are welcome (note: it is a tuesday night, and summer here in NYC is s-l-o-w ... we would not want to go to a place that would make us wait even a half hour)

And even if a place is super trendy, we would need to be able to talk withoout too much noise ...
