Need recommendations for lunch tomorrow and Sunday. Dive, fancy-doesn't matter. Type of food-doesn't matter. Just looking for tasty eats!
Short time in NYC coming up-recommendations, please
Oh, and prefer casual and there will be two of us and do not mind bar seating for lunch or dinnner
Short time in NYC coming up-recommendations, please
Just booked last minute trip to NY. Arriving Friday, Jan 8 in time for lunch and leaving Sunday around 330p.
Plan to go to theater either Friday or Saturday night but will be 90 minute, no intermission so could do a late dinner (Bernard-Jacobs Theater).
Food is the key. Prefer smaller, intimate neighborhood restaurants but open to anything. Don't like ornate, heavy dining rooms and don't really want a 3-4 hour tasting menu. However, price is not an issue. Like all cuisines, especially Italian. Prefer lighter over heavy. Desserts are not an interest at all but like a nice wine or saki list. Tried to get into Lupe on recommendation and may do for lunch though dinner looks doubtful. Some other recommendations from friends were Chiyona, Cafe Cluny, Momofuka Noodle.
Coming from Atlanta where some of our favorites are Shaun's, Rathbuns, Sotto Sotto, Holeman and Finch.
I did review several recent posts but am having a hard time getting a handle on the best plan and would appreciate any advice.
Johannesburg staying one night at Intercontinental
Thanks-we had a great time at Moyo!!
Franschhoek
Great lunch at Ruebens, FANTASTIC dinner at The Tasting Room. Wonderful chef's dinner at our hote, La Residence. ANd Bread and Wine was outstanding!
Cape Town-3 nights
Back from Cape Town and had some great food and wine. Some favorites were Ginja, Bizerca, Tank, Winesense (great for wine tasting and a nice tapas menu)
Lunch at Harbor House at Kalk Bay-thought the setting better than the food.
In Franschhoek, we had a great meal at Ruebens (thanks for the recommendation) and had a SUBLIME meal at The Tasting Room. And a wonderful chef's dinner at our hotel, La Residence....
Bread and Wine was outstanding-perhaps the best risotto I have ever had.
johannesburg - modern vibrant restaurant
We had a great meal and fun time at Moyo in Melrose Arch, not too far from Sandton....
Winelands-recommendations for winery visits
Staying in Franschoek and have a day and a half. Will not be there with a car (possible to rent one there?) and want to visit some wineries but know little about the area and South African winemakers. In Napa/Somoma we like to find the smaller, unique wineries but am open to anything on this first visit to the area.
Thanks in advance for any advice...
Cape Town-3 nights
Is there a big difference in Bukhara waterfront and Bukhara on Church st?
Cape Town-3 nights
Would you recommend Riboville over Ginga? We have some friends here from Cape Town and they love Ginga. Both have gotten mixed reviews, Riboville got some bad marks on eatout.co.za and Ginga a few on tripadvisor. Could not find anything about Ginga on eatout
Johannesburg staying one night at Intercontinental
Was thinking of heading in and eating at Moyo (would one location be better than the other? Melrose Arch vs Parkview?
Again, maybe over ambitious but would love to get out fo the hotel for a bit....
Cape Town-3 nights
We will be in Cape Town for three nights and want to optimize our diing experience.
Traveling with a small group and, at one of their friend's recommendations, three high end restaurants were suggested-Showroom, Aubergine and Sevruga.
We tend to like slightly more casual restaurants though the food is the important thing. We are leaning towards one night at Bukhara and a recent NY TImes article touted Bizerca and the website looked great.
Like fresh, local food served in a nice atmosphere. Not about the glitz/ornate, the "scene" or the hyped up presentation.
Thoughts? Thanks!
Franschhoek
We are staying two nights here (a t La Residence)
Any thoughts on dinner selections? Suggestions by the agency that booked us are dinner at La Residence one night and The Tasting Room in Le Quartier Francais.
Prefer fresh, local, not stuffy, not overly formal and am concerned the above may be in that catagory?
Johannesburg staying one night at Intercontinental
Coming into Johannesburg for one night on way to Cape Town, et al and wondered if anyone could recommend a place for dinner. We will be wiped out after a flight from Atlanta but was hoping for options other than the hotel....
Thanks!
Three nights in NO, narrowing it down...
Will be in NO for the French Quarter festival and is my first time since Katrina. I imagine we will eat some at the festival but perhaps lunch one day elsewhere.
Throwing around Cochan, August, Stella, Bayona, Luke. Help my pick the top three! Thanks.
lunch near copley
Any recmmendations for lunch in Copley, back bay area for tomorrow/Saturday? Had a wonderful lunch at Neptune oyster today and dinner res for Prezza tomorrow...
In Boston for visit-dinner Saturday?
Yes, a bit last minute but wanted recommendations for dinner Saturday for two. Not fancy, fussy but good food in central Boston. Any recommendations for North End? Or other thoughts?
Last night in BA-restaurant
Resto or Thymus or other? Will be at La Cabrera tonight so no more big meat places tomorrow....
Food more important than pomp and atmosphere. Good wine important.
Thanks!!!

one night in Jackson, MS-Walker's?
Thanks, Spice Avenue sounds great but I am traveling with a friend that is not an Indian food fan. So I guess Walker's may be our best bet. Staying at the Hilton but we have a car so should be fine. Thanks for the replies
one night in Jackson, MS-Walker's?
Will be in Jackson for an event this Friday and did a quick perusal of the board a few days ago. Using that, made late dinner plans for Walker's Drive Inn. Best bet?
Thanks!
Small winery recommendations/restaurant recommendations
That was our tentative plan. Two nights in Napa and then to the Inn with dinner one of those nights...
Small winery recommendations/restaurant recommendations
Also, how long a drive over to Farmhouse and can anyone give recommendations for wineries over there should we make the trek?
