Lunch and Cornell Game in Midtown

Any suggestions for a pub etc. w/ decent bar food near 52nd and 6th to watch game and eat lunch with a friend. I would say a place with a good burger, but I can't eat meat since it's Friday/Lent. I hate Heartland Brewery.

Serendipity 3 Ice cream flavors?

Since I was a little girl, my favorite at Serendipity is 3 scoops of coffee with caramel syrup, extra almonds, and extra whipped cream. Their whipped cream is amazing!

Final Trip itinerary - have I got any bloopers?

Get the deviled eggs. They're incredible!!

Per Se Salon B-Day Meal

Had a lovely meal last night at per se salon. Bf and I had been once before and sat in the dining room, which was one of the most incredible dining experiences of my life. Last night was nearly as wonderful.

I had the seared fois gras and the butter poached lobster, while he had the cauliflower agnolotti and the lamb. Everything was absolutely amazing. Also to start we were brought the usual cheese puffs and salmon cornets, and a delcious bacon/truffle sandwich amuse with garlic soup. We finished with a wonderful cheese plate (4 cheeses with 4 different accompaniments) and a special order of coffee and doughnuts with a candle since bf told them it was my bday and that it's my favorite dessert. Also two baskets of delicous per se breads including the incredible pretzel rolls and butter were served to us. And they kindly brought out the 6 salt tasting I loved the last time for me to use on my bread.

The space in the salon is very beautiful and in some ways very private. Also, the couches are good for cuddling between courses if you're with someone special.

Service, as during our prior experience, was incredible!!! There was definitely no difference in treatment because we were seated in the salon as opposed to the dining room. Our waiter for last time even offered me another kitchen tour (a highlight of our last trip to per se). I was so relaxed that I declined, but it was very sweet of him.

Steakhouse for Super Bowl Sunday

To celebrate my little brother's 15th birthday my family and I (party of 5) would like to go to a nice steakhouse on Sunday. If the boys could watch the super bowl, that would be a great plus, but it's not a requirement. We were thinking Keens, but I thought I'd see if we could get some other thoughts. I also thought Dylan Prime would be fun, since that's my brother's (and my boyfriend's) name. Best food is definitely key! Thanks in advance.

What to eat at Marea?

The fusilli is incredible. I wrote about it the very first night I went there (the first Friday it was open) before any hype. http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/620825
Definitely also get the snapper crudo with panzanella!

9th Ave between 55th and 50th looked awesome: what do you like there?

Nook (BYOB)
Lime Jungle

biz dinner, W50s/Sixth Av

Marea has a lovely room in the back and a wonderful business lunch, but it's more like a 10 minute walk. It's also pretty quiet.

Insieme is very close and also tends to be quiet; the food is not as wonderful as Marea's.

Great Individual Nachos? (not a messy pile)?

Lime Jungle on 53rd and 9th.. really tasty.

Sub $35 Steak - Mission Impossible?

Salad and Steak Frites at Le Relais De Venise for $25. Really tasty but not the cut you're looking for.

Good Dive Bars

The best... though not in the area is Billymark's West on 29th and 9th. Billy is the best!

Modern Bar Room- thoughts???

Coffee sundae is out of this world, and the duck breast with peppercorns is delcious too.

Serendipity 3...worth it for a family for lunch/dinner?

I'm going to have to dissent. I loved Serendipity when I was a kid (granted that was about 15 years ago), but I've been within the past year, and I still think it has a decent burger, is a lot of fun, and has amazing ice cream sundaes. Kids will enjoy!

The sundaes are enough to feed 4 and are a good deal. Coffee ice cream, caramel syrup, almonds, and extra whipped cream is the way to go!

Which is better GRay's Papaya or Papaya King?

Papaya King hot dog with mustard and saurkraut with a Banana drink. One of my favorites since childhood.

dinner near 29th and 8th

No food, but you should definitely do after dinner drinks at awesome dive-like bar Billymark's West on 29th and 9th.

Fancy Dinner for ONE.... suggestions?

Marea now offers a 4 course meal for $89. The food is incredible and so are the cocktails! Also, I love the bar there, so if you wanted to eat at the bar and enjoy the company of others that's fun too.

Stuffed Zucchini Flowers, Fiori di Zucca, Frittelli

I had an incredible one, just added to the menu, at Marea last night. A little pricey at $10 for one blossom, but worthy every penny. Filled with mozzarella and anchovy and out of this world. Also Michael White and Rocky Cirino (manager featured today on eater.com http://eater.com/archives/2009/07/the_gatekeepers_marea.php) are super sweet!

Spicy Fried Chicken

It is amazing! I have no idea how it's made. I think the spice is all in the coating, sort of like a dry rub, but there's definitely enough lard and spices that it gets all over your hands anyway. They sell all pieces--primarily sold as dark quarter, white quarter, half, whole. The talk of it is just making my craving worse!

Summer '09 Restaurant Week - plans, reviews

We went to MBR last night and enjoyed it very much. I had the duck with apples followed by the tuna with sweetbreads, and my bf had gazpacho followed by pork belly. Desserts were cheesecake for me and chocolate/pistachio dome for him.

We also liked the lower-priced selection of bottled wines and I still had my favorite cocktail--the "Coming up Roses."

Decent cup of tea?!!!!!... anyone

Radiance Tea House on 55th has an amazing variety of teas and also has lovely snacks.

Spicy Fried Chicken

I'm having a craving for fried chicken like I had in Nashville at Prince's Hot Chicken Shack--nearly glowing, with white bread at the bottom that turned bright orange from the spices. Anyone ever had anything like it in the city?

Takeout Near Macy's

It's mom's b-day and she's getting her hair done in the area. I thought it would be nice to bring her some takeout lunch. Any ideas for something really delicious/special. Just really good sushi would work too. I just don't want to bring sushi from midtown. Thanks!

San Marzano Tomatoes in Juice not Puree?

Okay.... well they're still delicious. And if "Cento" brand is real, I like the WF ones more. Everyone loves my sauce.

That said I'll have to try a rec for an imported brand.

Lunch Near Parker Meridien

The Modern or Milos for fancy.
Quality Meats for Steak.
Angelos on 57th for a good pizza.

San Marzano Tomatoes in Juice not Puree?

I've really found the San Marzano tomatoes that Whole Foods carries (in a non-discript can with tomatoes on it--purple and green I think) to be delicious. I think they come in puree.

Momofuku Ssam- Two Words: Butter and Lardo

2 words: pork butt. Amazing!
