Whole allspice berries

Does anyone know where you can buy whole allspice berries in Pickering and/or Toronto? Thanks!

Afternoon Tea in downtown TO? Advice please!

I called the Royal York last week because I couldn't find anything on their website about afternoon tea. I was told that they no longer do afternoon tea.

Pickering recommendations

Massey's at Liverpool and Krosno makes good hamburgers.

Calico Cafe - reservations for brunch is a must

I tried to eat brunch at Calico Cafe (Bloor between Lansdowne and Bloor) today. Due to its small size and the fact that they take reservations (which we didn't know), we weren't able to get a table. Moral of the story - make reservations.

Starving Artist - Friendly Staff

I went to the Starving Artist (Lansdowne) for the first time and I was very impressed with the great attitude of the staff. The place was crowded so we had to wait a while but the staff went out of their way to give us updates and seat us at the bar to have coffee before moving us to a table. It's refreshing to go somewhere in Toronto without getting attitude. And the waffles and coffee were very tasty!

A Torontonian driving to Ithaca via Buffalo seeks advice

Thanks for the suggestion. We now have Duff's in Toronto so the boyfriend will want to go somewhere new....

A Torontonian driving to Ithaca via Buffalo seeks advice

Hi. Okay, the title of my post is a little misleading. My boyfriend is driving from Toronto to Ithaca via the I-190S and I-190E. He'd like to stop somewhere close to the highway in Buffalo for either lunch or dinner. Any suggestions? He likes just about everything (especially hole-in-the-wall places) but he would prefer not to spend too much money. Also, any recommendations elsewhere along this route would be appreciated. Thanks!

Drive to Killarney - Anywhere good to eat along the way? Or in the Killarney area?

Thanks for the suggestions!

Drive to Killarney - Anywhere good to eat along the way? Or in the Killarney area?

I'll be driving up to Killarney Provincial Park on Thursday, September 3rd. Besides Herbert's fish and chips stand in Killarney, does anyone have any recommendations about where to have lunch and/or dinner on the drive up and in town? Thanks.

Culinary Arts @ George Brown College

I know it's not in the culinary arts category but I thought I'd offer my opinion on the wine-tasting class at George Brown. I don't recommend it. The instructor - who calls himself the "wine doctor" - constantly talks about his travels all over the world and the amazing food he ate. Pretty pretentious and not very informative. I took it about four or five years ago so I don't know if it's changed.

Stratford

Oops - I didn't see the May 2009 posting. But, if anyone has anything new to add, please share!

Stratford

Hello. I'm going to Stratford on Saturday to catch a matinee. We'll probably want to either have lunch beforehand or dinner afterwards. Any suggestions? We more or less like everything. I saw an old post here but it's two years old. Thanks!

Vermilion or Red Light?

Thanks for the information - much appreciated!

Vermilion or Red Light?

My boyfriend and will be in Chicago on Memorial Day weekend. We enjoy all types of food and we're trying to decide whether to go to Vermilion or Red Light on Saturday night (as the menus look interesting and we would be able to make reservations at either restaurant). I didn't find too many recent posts on either of these restaurants so I was wondering if anyone had eaten at these restaurants recently. Thanks!
