Need help with a chuck roast----how long does it have to cook?
The precooked weight was 2.5 pounds and was on the "low" setting since 7 a.m.
At this point I think the taco dinner will be tomorrow night.....especially after smelling it cook all day :)
Need help with a chuck roast----how long does it have to cook?
Typically we have steak or chicken for enchiladas, tacos, etc. but the little darlings have requested shredded beef tacos for this evening's dinner. Unfortunately, the chuck roast that I put in the crock pot this morning at 7 a.m. is still rock hard and won't shred so I placed it back in the crock pot. At this point, we are going to be eating breakfast tacos?
Seeing Someone Touch Your Food
It bothers me. If you touch food you should be wearing "clean" gloves. Period.
Why is the Olive Garden so reviled?
Or Ruby Tuesday, Red Robin, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Chili's etc.

Attended a class at the Kitchen Workshop a few years ago and had a great time.
Shredded Beef Taco Recipe?
Does anyone have a tried and true shredded beef taco recipe? I have tried several recipes and it still taste like a pot roast. We tend to like them on the spicy side.
Basic/starter Foodsaver model?
A few months ago I was watching America's Test Kitchen and they were testing Vacuum Sealers. They said that the Foodsaver bags were prone to micro tears due to ice crystals and would only stay totally sealed for a month or so.
Viking oven stopped working

West Chester -- Olive Branch and Sarcone's Deli
I suggest around lunch time/early afternoon.
West Chester -- Olive Branch and Sarcone's Deli
Sarcone's Deli: You can buy rolls on a retail basis, but you should buy early before they run out of stock for retail. I have not purchased anything other than the rolls---but I have heard many compliments on the deli.
Carlino's is about a half a block away and you may enjoy a stroll through the store.
Advice wanted: LP (propane) Conversion Kit for used 30 or 36" cooktops
What county are you in? Chesco, Montco, Delco, etc.
I would also post at Gardenweb in the Appliance forum---they always have a lot of great ideas and the threads move quickly.
Good luck!
Think Inside the Dishwasher -- new stuff to wash
The clear glass ones are fine in the dishwasher. Trust me....DO NOT put the frosted globes in the dishwasher. They will get damaged.
Breakfast, brunch, coffee in Exton to King of Prussia area?
Penn's Table is a new favorite on my breakfast list. I had the eggs bendict yesterday and they were delicious! I might try them for lunch next week.
Thanksgiving 2011 Disaster Stories
My only failure was forgetting to put the turkey in the oven. Appetizers, salad, side dishes, desserts, homemade bread, house ready for company, etc.
Thoroughly burned onto stovetop
Could you use an over cleaner such as Easy Off? I have used it on enamel surfaces without any problems. Will probably need a long soak and a couple of tries before it comes off.
Dutch ovens, Mario Batali vs Le Creuset or Staub...picture speaks a thousand words
I would have to agree. I purchased at 7 qt LC dutch oven at Macy's a few years ago on the cheap and it still looks like new. You do get what you paid for!
Cracked Granite. They say normal. I say BS. What do you think??
That amazing enhancement is a crack and not a fissure. I had something similar happen a few years ago when my slabs were installed. After a major pissing match on both parts, they replaced the slab on their dime. Hopefully you haven't paid them in full.
Your granite is beautiful by the way....love it!
Leaf Shaped dough cutters
My aging eyes see the Ateco as solid and the recipe version "open" like a cookie cutter.

Holiday dinner for 20: Prime rib alternative
mountuhngirl: One recipe note.....rinse the salt off and pat dry prior to searing the meat.
Have you thought about making twice baked potatoes for your potato dish? Easy to make and can be made ahead of time.
And the blog for the recipe isn't mine :( Cooks Country won't let you link their recipes so I found this on a blog.
Holiday dinner for 20: Prime rib alternative
I am a huge lover of prime rib but a rib roast for 20 would be out of my price range as well.
I would suggest a whole eye roast using Cooks Country Roast Beef dinner recipe. Have made it plenty of times with excellent results.
Here is a link for the recipe. Not a fan of the gravy recipe but LOVE the roast beef recipe:

Romantic picnic location, bringing food, wine, and blanket, any suggestions?
Might be a little too chilly but Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square might work.

Keep in mind that "timed ticketing" is now required.
Stainless Steel--Help needed.
Try Easy-Off Oven Cleaner, let sit overnight and scrub with a bristle brush. It may take several attempts before restoring the shine.
Do I dare order a roasted turkey?
I can't think of anywhere in Southern Chesco where you could pickup a warm turkey ready to go on Thanksgiving Day.
Could you "prep" the turkey the day before Thanksgiving? That way you only have to pop it in the oven on Tday.
Down with the mashed. Up with the galette. Heresy or a welcome revolution?
I usually make them a day before since they are a royal pain to make as forty people stand around watching you. The next day I put them in the microwave, stirring several times until heated through and then place in the oven on warm until it's time to eat.
The potato galette sounds wonderful. I'm stuck with the mashed to please everyone else :)
Down with the mashed. Up with the galette. Heresy or a welcome revolution?
I tried the crock pot method a few years ago and ended up with a burnt mess on the bottom---even on the warm setting.
