New Yorker looking for quintessential Montreal cheap eats 2014

I got to Schwartz's, both St. Viateur and Fairmont, La Banquise, Patati Patata, and Romados. All were very good, and as I'm hoping to now be in Montreal for almost a week, I'll probably stop by some again while trying a whole bunch of new places as well.

Great advice on the raw-milk soft cheeses, I'll definitely make an effort there.

Also - horse I am certainly interested as well - we were supposed to have some horse served at a French Canadian oriented restaurant M. Wells here a couple of years back, but horse is sadly still not particularly palatable in the US it seems, pardon the pun.

I also stopped by Dieu du Ciel as I'm a craft beer enthusiast as well so certainly interested in advice in that vein.

New Yorker looking for quintessential Montreal cheap eats 2014

I'm going to be in Montreal for a couple of days - are there any signature or must-have cheap eats that I should have while I'm there (under 20 dollars a person) both including restaurants and other food stands or carts or anything? Any location within the city, or nearby outside (I will have access to a car) is fine.

Happy to be referred to any quintessential cheap eats threads Quebec hounds may know that I may have missed as well. Thanks.

I posted this thread (http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/674472) four years ago, but four years can be a long time in food.

Additionally - I was considering trying to reserve Au Pied de Cochon and Joe Beef - any recommendations for what to get at either of those places and any other must places to those in a similar price range?

Looking for a variety of meals for planned bachelor party in Montreal

My friend is having his bachelor party in Montreal, and we'll be in the city probably for between 2 and 3 days at the end of October.

I figure we'll probably want a couple of a little bit upper scale dinners at night, with less expensive lunches and any must go to snacks or late night food.

From what I know, all I was thinking of so far was Au Pied de Cochon for one of the nice dinners, maybe Schwartz's for a lunch, and maybe La Banquise one late night after some drinking.

That and try to drag them to Dieu du Ciel at some point because I'm kind of a beer snob.

I'm sure not how many people we'll have yet, as we wait for RSVP, but it will probably be a minimum of six and maybe a couple more, if that precludes anything.

I would love suggestions for other meals (or drinking options too), or thoughts on if my choices so far are good ones. Thanks.

Top 10 Bars for Beer Snobs

Blind Tiger, Rattle N Hum and Ginger Man have definitely had the best selection of craft brews on tap that I've found(I'm generally less interested in bottles at bars, unless they're hard to find) , though Bar Great Harry in Brooklyn was pretty good as well, and Sunswick in Astoria is the best that I've found in Queens.

Rattle n Hum does good brewery events sometimes - I went to a Cigar City event last year that was fantastic.

Barcade is a very cool bar and has a pretty solid selection but not as good as these other places.

Now, if only New York started getting Bell's beers, I'd be a happy man.

I'm going to be in DC for a weekend - are there any signature or must-have cheap eats that I should have while I'm there (under 20 dollars a person) both including restaurants and other food stands or carts or anything? I posted this last year - http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/647836 - but a lot can change in a year, both with restaurants and with chowounders - any updates? Are the places listed here still good? New places or places that weren't mentioned before? Thanks.

Cheap Eats in Sydney and other places in Australia

I'm going to be in Australia for a couple of weeks (and New Zealand for a couple of days) - are there any signature or must-have cheap eats that I should have while I'm there both including restaurants and other food stands or carts or anything? Particularly in Sydney and Melbourne, but we'll be all around, so open to anything.

Cheap Eats in Astoria

I really live by none of these - I am right by the south side of Astoria Park right by the bridge. I'm happy, however, to walk a couple of miles if necessary for good reasonably priced chow, especially as the weather gets better.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Cheap Eats in Astoria

I just moved to Astoria and I was trying to find the best places around here to get cheap eats. I've found a number of good threats on various restaurants to put on my list but I'm particularly looking for places where I can get something at say, 12 dollars or less, either eating in or to take home. One example I have found would be Cedar's Meat House. Can be any kind of cuisine. Thanks!

New Yorker looking for quintessential Bay Area cheap eats

Always appreciate beer advice as well, though I will say last time I was in town I visited Russian River, Bear Republic, and Moylans (and may hit up the first two again as they're not too far from one another if I recall correctly) and luckily happened to be around for Pliny the Younger - which was phenomenal - if there are any brewers I missed or brew pubs feel free to inform (or great beer bars - I did happen to catch the Barleywine Festival at Toronado). Thanks.

Your "Go To" Beer?

Yuengling is great compared to macrobrews, and for the same cost - I've tried calling it lager many times in NYC only to get confused looks, but a large amount of places have it.

New Yorker looking for quintissential Boston Cheap Eats

I'm going to Boston for Memorial Day weekend to see the Red Sox take on the Mets at Fenway (Go Mets!)

Are there any places to eat that are must haves for out of towners (at 20$ or less per person on food - up to 30 if it's something so amazing) both including restaurants and other food stands or carts or anything? Any location within the city, or nearby outside is fine. Thanks.
