Buddha Dog? Thoughts? Death Watch?

I pass the Buddha daily here in Collingwood. I don't know how they stay in business. Never anyone in there. Good dogs and great toppings, neat salads however. The test here for business is the period after Thanksgiving till Boxing day. Most have no idea till then.

I live in Collingwood but used to live inTO. I visit often and do things downtown thus my interest in grabbing a bite there. Downtown is south of bloor to me. I like the speed of dim sum and will try just about anything. Been meaning to hit the Yangs on the way out, heard good reports on it.

Bologna or baloney

This much maligned meat can be used in sandwiches or used for higher purposes when it is BBQ'Q whole or grilled in big chunks. I have lots of detractors but what say you?

Of the recent stuff out there, Tony Bourdains "Les Halles Cookbook" is great. Simple, straight forward and annotated with some raunchy humour. Good recipes that work and please just about everyone. One step further is the Bouchon book by Thomas Keller, but that makes too much work for my days off!!

Try Andre's in Port Elgin. Great schnitzlels, fish, interesting starters, spaetzle and roesti. Service is always great. We make a trip once a year there. Not too experimental but just good food.

Why don't you make a real shepard's pie? Grind up the remainers with the sauce, add some summer veg like corn and diced carrots and put a nice potato mash on the top. No family member could refuse this.
