Organizing your "want to try" restaurants

I know this is a dead link, but.... Springpad is a great App for this. It lets you create a list, tag items on the list and do other kinds of list management. I live in new york, so i tag all my restaurants by neighborhood. The app also autofills the restaurant address, phone number, etc. It's awesome!

Roberta's - long waits for brunch?

Went for brunch last Sunday at 1pm. Waited about 20 minutes for a table for 2. We had the ricotta pancakes and the fried chicken, both were outstanding. Dare I say their brunch food is better than their pizza?

Happy Hour & Other Delicious Bargains

Heading to NOLA this week (Wed.-Sunday) and planning to splurge on August, Commander's Palace, Cure, and maybe a few others.

Now we are looking for some bargains to balance out our expensive meals/drinks. Of particular interest are Happy Hours (not sure if they do that in New Orleans, it's illegal in some towns), or good early dinner deals (ie 50-cent oysters, dinner deals on certain weekdays, etc..)

We already know about some affordable lunch places (Johnny's PoBoys, Coop's, etc.) and the prix fixe lunches at Emeril's, August, Cuvee, etc. We will probably do at least two of these.

Anyone know of any other great deals / specials in New Orleans?

Eats across Lake Ponchartrain?

Coming to New Orleans for Wednesday-Sunday trip. As I remember, the drive across Lake Ponchartrain is pretty neat... although it's been 10 years since I was there.

If we make the trip across, where should we eat when we get there? Open to making the drive for breakfast, lunch or dinner depending on what meal sounds best. We are open to anything, preferably something we can't get here in Chicago.

Thanks!

Authentic Mexican in Nashville - Al Pastor Tacos, por favor??

Cool, thanks for the tips. And a huuuge YAY for the reply from tacolady! You rule!

Nashville...finally finding some good places

If you want a good deli, Mitchell Deli in East Nashville is awesome. Disputes over the toppings on the Pastrami sandwich aside, this place makes a damn good sandwich. You can also buy bulk deli meats & Benton's bacon here if you'd rather make your own subs at home. Also, right across the street is Bailey & Cato, I think they have the best fried chicken in Nash..... You can take it to go if you are creeped out by Meat & 3's.

Lazzaroli is delicious! Another great Germantown option is City House - good Italian (new school, not old school.) And I really like The Dog of Nashville, over near Pancake Pantry. Joey's pizza sounds awesome.

Authentic Mexican in Nashville - Al Pastor Tacos, por favor??

Anyone know of a real, authentic Mexican restaurant in Nashville? Been here 9 months with the boyfriend, and haven't found anything like what we had in Chicago. We both love a good Taco Al Pastor.

The only place I've found so far that is seriously delicious is a taco truck in East Nashville, called Mas Tacos, Por Favor. She makes amazingy juicy chicken tacos & a delicious jalapeno watermelon-ade. Yum!! But she only serves dinner 2 nights/week.

I've read about El Tapatio, on Nolensville..... sounds intriguing, but I haven't made it down there yet since I live downtown. Any others of note? We're desperate here. Thanks 'hounds!

Chattanooga: show me what ya got!

OK, cool, that one is officially on the list. Thanks! Also anyone know anything about a boarding house ("Mama's" or something.....) that serves dinner in Lynchburg, TN? Wondering if this place is touristy in a good way --- or touristy in a rip-off way.

Chattanooga: show me what ya got!

Coming to Chattanooga from Nashville for 1-2 days. Looking for a few delicious restaurants. For context, my short list of faves in Nashville includes: City House, Monell's, Marche, Arnold's Country Kitchen, Hot Diggity Dogs, Samurai.

So I'm looking for something delicious to eat in Chattanooga. Can be Southern food, new American, BBQ, locally farmed, or anything else..... as long as the quality is really good. We're just looking for a couple places that are really really tasty, ya know?

Not gonna lie, we also like to drink, so if the restaurant makes a good cocktail or has a decent beer list that's a plus.

From reading other posts, I am thinking about:
212 Market
The Meeting Place
Hiroshi
What am I missing? (But don't say Mount Vernon, I'm totally scared of that place after reading other posts!)

Also open to any good hole-in-the-wall spots en route from Nashville to Chattanooga, if any exist.

Dining Deals in Nashville

Not sure if you are 21yo yet, but tons of places here have 2-for-1 drink specials & cheap food.
The Dog Of Nashville is a great hot dog place (near Vandy/Hillsboro) with outdoor seating & they serve beer.
Broadway Brewhouse is near Vandy/Midtown and has awesome, cheap wings.
Arnold's Country Kitchen has the best Southern food ever and waaay cheap for the quality. They are only open for lunch though.
For a good Nashville experience I really adore Brown's Diner in Hillsboro. Go on a Friday night when the country band is playing. Great cheeseburgers, great country music and super-cheap beer pitchers. Umm, it's in a trailer but don't let that scare you. It rules.
