Orange sherbet dipped in chocolate ice cream bar - where to find in Mtl?
You might try checking out Aubut near the Atwater Market. They carry Iceberg brand ice cream.
Baraka Grillade/BBQ Sur Charbon
I reviewed this place on the West Islands's Best Kept Secrets page, but felt it deserved it's own thread. My taste buds tell me this place deserves a nice review because the quality is good, the price is reasonable, the people are super nice and the chicken is out of this world.
Baraka Grillade/BBQ Sur Charbon has been open right beside Mourelatos on Saint Jean for about seven months. I dropped in for the first time on Saturday and had a small Shish Taouk brochette on pita and a small filet mignon pita. I got both sandwiches with their creamy hummus ans spicy marinated eggplant. Hands down, this is the best Shish Taouk I have ever had! Both the chicken and the filet mignon were extremely tasty and tender. Much tastier than my previous favorite, Abu Elias! I was so impressed that I went back the next day and ordered their whole spatchcock marinated chicken. It was excellent too. Everything is made fresh to order, so it is a good idea to call ahead to order in advance, allowing one hour for the whole chicken. I didn't try the potatoes or rice, but they looked very tasty. This place was also very clean. Super friendly owner and staff and excellent value for the money. In fact, why cook chicken at home? Their "family deals" are a great deal. This is my new favorite place.

Need a Chinese place not buffet for tomorrow a group of 20
Oh wow! Sorry, I completely missed that part.I don't think they do.

How about the brand new Cristal Chinois, located on the 6th. floor of 998 St. Laurent? Brand new and absolutely beautiful inside. I ate there last night and the food was excellent. They are definitely big enough to accommodate your group.... heck, they are big enough to accommodate an Italian wedding!
Creamy Speculoos in Vancouver?
Does anyone know where I can find speculoos spread? This is a creamy spread made from speculaas, those thin and tasty spice cookies. It comes in a jar similar to peanut butter, under the brand name Lotus. Speculoos spread is highly addictive... a must try.
Lampascioni (Lampagioni) in Montreal?
Does anyone know where I can buy some pickled lampascioni? Native to the Puglia region of Italy, these look like little pink onions but are actually the bulb from the hyacith family.
zero chocolate bar?
I have heard this too. Some dépanneurs carry them through the summer, but you have to check the refrigerators. Costco also usually sells both the milk and dark chocolate varieties by the box-full. This may be seasonal too, however.
Cartel Street Food?
Just a quick note to let everyone know that they are offering free lunch today (drinks extra). They have a set menu of their items offered as a tasting menu. Places have filled up fast... maybe some places left after 1:30. I am going at 1:00... fill you in later.

FERRERO Pocket Coffee?
I just heard someone go on and on about these and now I want to find them too. Let's bump this thread back up and see if anyone knows where we can find these chocolates.

CABANE A SUCRE & ANIMALS
Exactly what do you mean by this? Do you mean if they allow dogs on the property, or if they allow them inside? I have been going to La Goudrelle with my daycare for several years, and they never mind me bringing my dogs too. The dogs however do not go inside; and, they are always on leash (otherwise my husky would have a field day with the llama).
calling all MTL Chocolate connoisseurs
My personal favorites for taste and quality are Le Maitre Chocolatier, corner Sherbrooke & Guy and Gendron. Gendron does not have a shop, but you may contact them directly at 450-646-6001. You may also want to check out their facebook page:

Evian Designer Bottle
This years bottle is by ISSEY MIYAKE. Has anyone seen them in the stores yet? Aubut usually carries them but doesn't have them. Does anyone know who is carrying them?

Finding Monkey bread in Montreal??
As far as I know, no bakery here makes Monkey Bread. Usually, Monkey bread is one of those made at home guilty pleasures. It is made by rolling balls of sweet frozen dough (like Pillsbury), dipping them in butter, rolling them in cinnamon/sugar, and then pressing them into a bundt pan. The cake is eaten by hand, pulling off the gooey gobs of dough. Now I'm craving.
Fantastic Food & Fabulous Fun
Thinking back, I was first introduced to great Thai in LA, many years ago. Any Thai places of note?
Fantastic Food & Fabulous Fun
Any type of food will do. We are from Montreal where ethnic restaurants are a-plenty and varied. Just in our gang of 13 women, we are Italian, Greek, Chinese, Jamaican, Russia, French Canadian and Scottish. Nice ideas so far... keep them coming. Any food related events happening in the LA area within the first 2 weeks of November?
Fantastic Food & Fabulous Fun
We are a group of Montreal women attending a conference near downtown Disney in about a week. I am a big foodie, they just want to eat inexpensively and in a fun atmosphere. We will not have access to cars, but are willing to take cabs as long as it is not too far. We are looking to cover 5 dinners as a group (13 people), 2 dinners as a smaller group (6 people), breakfast and lunch - close by the convention center. I will be staying on an extra few days and am also looking for a few romantic spots. We will have rented a car by this point, so transportation is not an issue.
Jamaican In Anaheim
Not necessarily, but it was requested by some of my fellow travelers. Any other recommendations for the area?
Jamaican In Anaheim
Will be travelling with a group to attend a conference, would need to find a good Jamaican restaurant.
Any recommendations? Will be staying near Downtown Disney
Thanks in advance
What is the best Hot Dog brand in Montreal?
I am a big fan the Schneider's Juicy Jumbos, with the Hot & spicy being my favorite. They aren't a Montreal product, but the company is Canadian.
Birthday freebies?
Remember Mother Tuckers where you could have a free buffet on your birthday? What ever happened to those types of offers?
I know Tutti Frutti offers a free breakfast on your birthday (thank-you to them... I am heading out for breakfast now). Do any other places give freebies for the birthday person?
Pintxo - My Review
Hey marblebag! I went on Saturday night! My favorite was the seared foie gras on lentils with sherry vinegar reduction... I could have had several of those. Other favorites for me were the beef cheek and the goat cheese ravioli with duck stew.
Macarons in bulk
I know Gastronomia carries nice macarons in boxes of 72. The flavors are chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, lemon, raspberry, and coffee (12 of each). They also carry other flavors/brands in smaller boxes, but I prefer the standards. They are located on Richmond, 2 minutes from downtown.

Rainy Free Cone Day 09...again.
I believe this was the third rainy free cone day in a row! Unfortunately, I am off ice cream for the time being. It was painfully difficult watching group after group of my daycare kids and educators going to get their ice cream today. The people there are always so nice to our kids.
What's for dinner XXIII?
I hope all is ok after your stint in the hospital. Nice to know your husband was there to offer up such a tasty meal.
What's for dinner XXIII?
Although steaks were in the offerings for tonight's dinner, I opted for fried hamburgers reminiscent of those my mother served the mornings of my slumber parties when I was a child.
First I fried a few strips of bacon and set them aside. Using the remaining bacon grease, I fried some onions and set them aside. Meanwhile, Mom fried up some nice red peppers and formed my patties (three kinds of meat... just like all good Italians use - beef, pork, and veal). Just a sprinkling of garlic powder, cajun seasoning and cayenne, and the burgers were quick fried to perfection, topped with brie and set aside. Skinny buns were fried in the drained pan until browned. The burgers were assembled and served with fried potatoes & rapini.
What's for dinner part XXII?
Today we had baked mussels. We cleaned and opened the mussels and had them on the half shell. They were then sprinkled with a breadcrumb mixture (parmesan, garlic, parsley, salt, pepper), and drizzled with oil. Potatoes were sliced thinly, sprinkled with the same breadcrumb mixture and the whole was popped into the oven until done. This, IMHO is the best way to have mussels.
Blueberry/plum pie for dessert... with vanilla bean ice cream.
Cabane a sucre Au Pied de Cochon
Well, according to their web site, there is no more space for the 2010 season. I have been waiting since the beginning of January for a call back. I left two messages and sent two emails as did a friend of mine. We were hoping to get reservations for a Chowdown. and there were several people interested.
We never received a call or email, one way or another regarding our reservations... no acknowledgment whatsoever. I must say, I am quite angry about the way by they have handled the reservations. How is it possible that people who called in February were contacted for their reservations when those of us who called earlier never heard from them? I am sure I am not the only one in this situation.
Just wondering, if another restaurant were to handle their reservations in this manner, how long would they stay in business?
Best birthday BYOB?
I too like La Campagnola. I tried it last year with my very picky Italian mother. The food was good and abundant. Except for a little glitch in the service (but they were very busy), it was a wonderful evening. and we all vowed to return. Bonus, they cure some of their own meats. The staff were very nice and helpful.
