Arizona restaurant week

Loved Binkley's! Top notch food and service. Two of us did RW menu with shrimp app, jidori and braised chicken main, and chocolate dessert. Two did tasting menu and we all did wine pairings. Terrific extra small dishes with so much flavor and variety. Definitely my top place.

Best option near Jobing.com Arena

I like the Gordon biersch when I go to the arena....food, drink, service all are good. Small plates are my usual choice with seasonal drinks.

I was also there today for early takeout and have enjoyed the sandwich and crepes today. Friendly service. Very fresh, tasty, and reasonable. Saw several things I need to try on my next visit. Have glass noodles with beef to try next.

Pizzeria Bianco‎ - wait?

Chris just started opening all day that should help!
I told him I just used to go to NUbuo for apps, then a beer at the English pub, then my pizza. He laughed and was looking forward to people being able to come by in the afternoons.

Where to eat during Restaurant Week 2009? (PHX)

We also went to District last night and had a very good meal. Spoke to the chef about his comfort food and the super room. Salad and duck quesadilla- both great. Salmon and pork tenderloin both cooked perfectly and sides delish- risotto and sweet potato fries to die for. So fun to have the strawberry whoopie pies and glasses of wine included. Definitely plan to return on another night downtown- plus free parking!

Review: Stacy's Smokehouse - Phoenix (w/ photos!)

Stopped in at 2 for a pulled pork sandwich and it was terrific. Hot, moist, warm bbq sauce- really great. Friendly, clean....and got a chuckle out of the light switch being outside the bathroom door.

General Restaurant Week Reviews - Phx

We went to Grille at the Wigwam and liked the short ribs, king crab risotto, hangar steak, and apple fritter the most. Service was a B, and overall it got the nod over Bourbon Steak.

At Bourbon Steak we loved the duck fat fries, burratta with tomatoes, corn soup, my sole, and the beignets. the hangar steak was good but more charred than they liked. Service and room was A. I would return to both.

Flagstaff Dining

We went to NJ Pizza for dinner and had a "Perfecto"- very good. About $12 with fresh, tasty crust and toppings. The menu is more limited during the week and has more (Antipasto, ingredients, dessert) on Fridays and Saturdays. They are open for dinner everyday and lunch only some days so call and check. It is the building covered by an Italian theme mural and they are going to put the hours up on the window soon. The Farmer's Market by the railroad tracks downtown is on Sunday mornings til mid October and I think they also do something good there for breakfast.

Pizza a Metro (PHX)

We went for lunch yesterday and really enjoyed the food and staff. Shared a salad and loved the mozzarella. Had the very tasty bread strips and onion/eggplant/capers spread too. The food had such a fresh taste - quality. Pizza light and crispy and veggie toppings. Told them we want them to open by OUR house! All the main plates were under $10.

Gazebo -- Napili Bay, Maui. What happen to the original macadamia nut pancake topping?

My Safeway has Dream Whip. I bought some last week in hopes of making Hawaiian waffles for Mother's Day. Four envelopes in the box so I can try several times to get a tasty topping!

recs in Scottsdale- staying at the Mondrian

Flagstaff Dining

After my last trip, I would agree that Brix is near the top of the list...and LaFonda is no longer on my list. Mike and Ronda was just ok. Beaver Street had tasty salad but the bread was too salty for me. I look forward to more of your current spots before my next trip. thanks!

Italian New Yorker Mom visiting Phoenix, Recommendations? Also, question about Pizzeria Bianco.

We went to Cholla at Casino Az, McKellips, for a birthday and had very good food and terrific service. The showstopper special has a nice variety. Plus, when you make reservations for the restaurant, they can also give you reserved seating up front at the music show. I am a sucker for the Temptations group personally. http://casinoaz.com/dining_cholla.asp

DT Phoenix lunch suggestions

A few of us had about an hour between meetings and ate at the Arcadia Farms at the Art Museum today. Colorful walls, pleasant room, nice bar, good service and we liked the food. Lots of good salads and sandwiches. Almost ordered crab cakes but I tried the crepes- lots of flavor with basil, chicken, spinach, etc. so I can recommend the dish. It had a nice outdoor patio too for our nice afternoons.

PHX - Where are you heading for Valentine's Day?

Home for us too tho' we love our local spots. Two lobsters waiting to go in the pot and homemade lava cake with some nice dessert wine so we are set. We will wait to go out when it is not a set menu and a huge crowd, too.

Envious of themis with the reservations at Binkleys....

Where are the Good Restaurants (Non-Chain) in Surprise, AZ ?

I really like the neighborhood feel of Old Pueblo and the patio is unbeatable on the nice evenings. They have spoiled me with the super fresh pico de gallo and I love to order on the a la carte side to try more things.

Arizona Kitchen is also is a favorite - great variety and a chef who really loves southwestern ingredients. I have been to a few wine dinners this year and enjoyed the wine pairings and the wine guys telling about their process. I have found they really want you to enjoy the meal and be "wow"-ed so they try to anticipate your needs with great service and food.

Now I just have to see if my yummy Vietnamese place on Van Buren (Avondale/Goodyear) re-opens after their fire, or I can just keep trying things on the huge King Egg Roll on Central and Van Buren in Avondale since they have such great variety.
