2009 closings

Il Mulino.
We hear that it's been sold and new owner will run it under different name, different chef etc. We are planning to stop by over the weekend, stay tuned!

Charcuterie

where to go for small bites downtown?
not looking for full meal, but rather charcuterie and few glasses of wine, and meet with old-time friends. Suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Charlie's Burger Next Meal!

no offence, but pure curiosity, non doctor, sorry.
I agree on one thing here, you can't be the promoter of CB simply due your work, why would you promote CB if JK needs the help?
thanks all.
btw, which is your favourite wine bar other than yours, also doing summerlicious?

Charlie's Burger Next Meal!

"does not adversly affect the industry"....so, why is it done?
just reading all these, becoming a turn off to us...
ndoctor, what's the situ at JK's?

Charlie's Burger Next Meal!

matchings are so - so.?
why is this whole thing done?
anyway...

Charlie's Burger Next Meal!

ok. so, there are others of your talents invited to select and present the wines? if we get invited we'd certainly want to learn about tricks of matching and all that. plus with wine guides along would the whole thing be worthier?

Charlie's Burger Next Meal!

wonder who chooses the wines and how? do they taste food with wines before? we just sent an email requesting to be included in current or upcoming dinner lists' potential attendees.

do they have a website?

Halleluia Restaurant - So good!

sign said "closed"...the whole place looked deserted...

Halleluia Restaurant - So good!

Halleluia seemed that it's out of business...we wanted to go there last night, but it was closed.
iil mulino was empty too...2-3 years ago it was a fav of ours...organized many interesting wine events, sent regular newsletter out to regulars, there was good buzz around this place...now, nothing, empty...anyone been lately??
sette mezzo changed "hands"...new owners now and place re-done a bit...owner is the chef too, wife greats, serves, runs floor...look "grounded" people, not as "hip" as owner before...wonder what happened to him, Sol...? we had appetizers only and they were decent.
here you go, news for you from eglinton west...

Fun downtown Toronto place for kids, with good food that adults can enjoy?

we hear Crush's second location, a gastro-pub, do not re-call name, on Elm, kids-friendly.

Charlie's Burgers? Still going?

ty

Charlie's Burgers? Still going?

maybe, but we don't care...so much secrecy and all that...for what?!

Charlie's Burgers? Still going?

Hubby heard at work that it's done, over...maybe just gossip.

Sayonara, JK?

agreed!
maybe he trusted his kitchen, floor and wine managers too much!?
we wish him best of luck! he is a great guy indeed!

Didier Leroy: Master Chef

JK bombshell...?! are you refering to JK's empire going out of business? We just over-heard conversation at lunch..."due to mismanagement"...?

The Fifth

who than is the chef and sommelier? although we will call and inqure. thanks for all the posts, we appreciate it.

The Fifth

which dishes did you, guys, favour?
what's the price range?
wines?

Barberian's - The One and Only (long)

agreed! a fine steakhouse for sure.
we had wine by-the-glass too.
btw, one of the whorst steaks we had was at Prime of Windsor Arms sometime ago...terrible quality for beef, served over-cooked, horrible service...we asked 4 times for wines until they had our choice in stock...We meant to write this, but rwe will ather contact the owner and do him a favour perhaps...on the note who owns the windsor Arms? and do you guys believe that it's his/her fault too that the restaurant simply does not deliver, or he/she just not there and does not know...?!!

The Fifth

Who is the chef nowadays?
Manager is former Bistro 990? sommelier?
Anyway, should we go there for a very special occasion? Our friends suggested as their condo is just nearby it. What should we order? What should we avoid?
Please let us know. Thanks!

Hands-on Cooking Lessons (GTA)

coupe space was a recommendation we've recieved too.

catering

hi, need recommendations for a catering chef as well as wine expert to feed and entertain, educate us about cooking and wines, date TBD, around father's day anyway. thanks. prefer italian cooking, could be other, innovative.

Harvest or Bloomfield Carriage restaurant?

Harvest needs a good manager, and even more so a wine waiter, someone who knows wine...go to Bloomfield Carriage.

Far Niente: Underwhelming vs AG: Amazing!

Halleluia Restaurant - So good!

Agreed!
We went there for the food, nothing else!
Although, the chef/owner is a character...funny guy...
We used to do take out a lot from there too as it's in the neighborhood.
Haven't been for a while...so, we will check it out again soon!
