Budget-friendly New Year's dinner?
Thanks for the cheap-eats list! We'll definitely try Pastores and Broken Record.
I'm really excited to go to the Ferry Farmers' Market on Saturday morning. Larkin Express, Tadich Grill and Cafe Tartine are also on the list. Any recs for dim sum? I've heard that Yank Sing is pricey and overrated.
Budget-friendly New Year's dinner?
We're from Toronto and visiting SF for a week on a student budget. We're looking for casual, fun, non-touristy places in general, but especially for New Year's eve....perhaps near a strip where we could do a pub crawl afterwards.
The first night we're staying near Market and 7th, so we also need a rec for dinner then too. Thanks!
Visiting Seattle - staying at 6th and Union
thanks for all the suggestions. is there a fun bar in that area --- or a good street to stroll down?
Visiting Seattle - staying at 6th and Union

What's good for dinner tomorrow night? Any type of cuisine, not too expensive, romantic and/or fun!

they're going to a concert downtown next friday and we want to take them for dinner beforehand. any ideas for kids besides the spaghetti factory?

wanted to try rosebud this sunday but it's closed

Greek on the Danforth: Good, Cheap Old Skool?
messini has great gyros and fantastic roasted potatoes.

-amy ruth's (or charles' southern kitchen)
i'm trying to keep it fairly cheap 'cause i'm a student. anything else?
unique restaurants in manhattan that can't be missed
i'm visiting for four days this weekend and want to try things i can't get in toronto: great bagels, mexican food, and southern food. i also want to try places that are famous/fun/off-the-wall... any recommendations?
best mexican restaurant in the lower east side?
with good ambiance on a friday night?
suggestions for birthday restaurant for a guy who hates vegetables!
i love allen's on the danforth, but we've been there a lot. i'm looking for somewhere similar to beer bistro, but not quite so bay street...and somewhere where he can taste different beers!
thanks!
i've never had chicken paprikash before
where is the best place to try it for the first time?
suggestions for birthday restaurant for a guy who hates vegetables!
he is a big meat-eater and beer connoisseur, especially dark ales and stout. anyone know of a reasonably-priced place in central t.o?
girls' night out, good ambiance
Thanks for all the suggestions. We ended up going to Julie's, the Cuban place on Dovercourt. It always has a fun and relaxed vibe and the food is pretty good, especially after a couple of margaritas!
Best Street Eats in Toronto?
bacchus roti on queen is excellent, especially the jerk chicken roti.
the gyros at messini on the danforth are fantastic, and so are their roasted potatoes.
cheesecake in toronto?
I doubt you can get a whole cheesecake, but since you're a caramel lover, if you ever go to Wish for dinner, have the Dulce de Leche cheescake. They order it from a lady who makes them privately and it is DIVINE! Sometimes I go just for martinis and cheesecake...but their dinners are great too!
Client Dinner - Downtown TO
Mildred Pierce is great, but it's a bit far west...near Queen and Dovercourt I think.

Thai for ten
The food at Thai Basil on Bloor, west of Spadina, is fantastic. It's very fresh and they'll make it really spicy if you ask. Their green chicken curry is the best I've ever had!
Indonesian rice table?
Had great ones in Amsterdam but not anywhere else. Suggestions?
Indonesian rice table?
Had great ones in Amsterdam, but never anywhere else! Is there a place in Manhattan that's good?
pulled pork sandwiches in Toronto?
i second the house on parliament. in fact, everything i've ever had there has been fantastic. my boyfriend said that the old york on niagara street has a great pork sandwich too, though i haven't tried it yet.
birthday dinner
my very broke boyfriend is taking me out for dinner in a couple of weeks and he wants a couple of suggestions. i'd like to try some new places, and thought both Rosebud and the Town Grill look cute and the food sounds great. Are they too pricy? Any suggestions for same cuteness, less cost?
girls' night out, good ambiance
I like Hair of the Dog too, but I know that some of my single girlfriends won't want to spend Saturday night in the village ;)
girls' night out, good ambiance
I've tried (and liked) all of them except Magpie. That looks great, but some of us were hoping to go dancing after. Are there any cute dance spots close by? Thanks for the suggestions!
girls' night out, good ambiance
six of us are going out this weekend for dinner and drinks. a couple people are vegetarian (but eat seafood), and we all like to try new things. any suggestions for fun places with great food and vibe, not too expensive? i like julie's cuban on dovercourt but we want to try somewhere new...
this is embarrassing, but...
my boyfriend and i want to choose one of the restaurants from the tv show "restaurant makeover" to try. any recommendations?
Milagro?
El Sol, though not really upscale, is by far the best Mexican food I've had in Toronto. I've tried Dos Amigos and a couple on St. Clair, but they don't even come close. Plus El Sol has the best margaritas by far!
