Heading back to Philadelphia, tweaking the agenda.
I am a fan of Matyson and Meritage and not of Sang Kee.
Johns Roast Pork is great, but I often wonder if it so much better than Dinic's to make it worth the greater (for me) inconvenience of hours and location.
I think the most interesting thing on your list is Paesano's, where some of the sandwiches are truly unique.
Who Serves Beef Wellington?
The General Warren Inn, way out in Malvern, has it if you want to travel.
It is definitely traditional ... to the point of old fashioned and stodgy.
Branzino or Melograno for the big 4-0?
I think Tinto is better between those two. Their Chestnut soup is great in the fall. Tinto is, however, louder and more ... um ... fancified?
Both are excellent, in my opinion.
Branzino or Melograno for the big 4-0?
For just the two of you, I think Melograno is better - it has a cozier vibe and more interesting food, in my opinion. Branzino is good but more basic, and feels fancier (maybe that is what you prefer.)
Special Occasion for 12 in CC (with vegans ...grrr)
Supper is a good idea for Brunch - I don't see a lot of vegan option on the dinner menu tho :/
Special Occasion for 12 in CC (with vegans ...grrr)
University city is fine - we don't mind traveling a bit.
I am afraid that Zahav might be cramped with our size party. Do they have multiple rooms?
Special Occasion for 12 in CC (with vegans ...grrr)
No ... that would really limit things - I have a month.
Special Occasion for 12 in CC (with vegans ...grrr)
I am looking for a restaurant in CC that can accommodate 12 people (relatively comfortably) and a couple of vegans. My group also has a couple heavy meat eaters and must have a liquor license. Price is not an issue, though if you have any cheaper ideas those would be appreciated too - I need a place for Fri. and Sat. Ethnic food is ok but it needs to be Americanized at least to the point where the waiter speaks English. I have been to most of the well-known restaurants on this blog, so if you rec. one of those, it would be great if you could mention your experience with a big party. Thanks.
Oh and if you have brunch ideas for this group...
Fine dining alone?
When I'm dining out alone (which is rare), I always go for a sushi bar. Perhaps sitting at the bar at Morimoto is up your alley. You can order from the full menu.
Rec. for picky eaters in CC?
Branzino looks good, as does L'Angelo .. I don't go to Osteria any more after two not great meals - I'm sure its wonderful and i have been unlucky or ordered poorly, but I'm not gonna press my luck.
If they wanted a "red gravy joint" which does everyone enjoy the most?
And how about any non-italian? (they are eating one night not with me and I don't want to make them eat italian back to back evenings)
Rec. for picky eaters in CC?
I have some relatives coming into town who eat only chicken/beef/shrimp (and maybe veal) and don't want to eat at any restaurant not American, Italian or Chinese (American Chinese). They do not like spicy, in any sense. I'm looking for 40$/person or under (food only) and looking for something with many options for them (because they have numerous other food phobias and hangups). I'm willing to go anywhere in Philly, but would rather not head to the 'burbs. Thanks for any thoughts!
Restaurants everyone loves--except you
Ditto Osteria for not a great meal. Maybe it was because I went on a Tuesday or maybe it was because I have had such excellent meals at Vetri and had high expectations. So disappointing I haven't been back.
I am a huge Monk's fan but, also having been off-put by the crowds, like it much better for lunch ... if you are someone willing to throw back three beers by 2 PM that is :).
Casual in Conshohocken? (Or nearby)
Any type of cuisine really, just somewhere you can wear Jeans. I've been to Totaro's and that is a bit pricey for what I am looking for. Something in the $18 entree range. Coyote Crossing looks pretty good. Thanks!
Casual in Conshohocken? (Or nearby)
I live in Philly, but am looking for a place to take my parents after a lengthy trip. They are staying in Conshohocken so would love a casual place nearby. Something non-BYO would be best!
