The Nook has re-opened
the food didnt taste any different from what i remember, but i had similar fears about the seasoned griddle
The Nook has re-opened
i went last night, it has a totally different feel, but the food still seems on par with the old nook, the deco makes it feel more of a grown up place, less sports memorabilia and the plain whitewashed walls and and dim lighting made it feel like a classier place
im torn between liking and disliking it, its definately not the nook i knew and loved, but its probably a new chapter in the nook's history, i look forward to future visits though
popeyes in st. paul needed
there is a popeyes near uptown on lake off of lyndale.. they only take cash...
and the popeyes that used to be in the frogtown area is where Trung Nam is now, i used to visit that quite often as a kid with my dad
Modern Times Cafe
is this the one near erte? or am i thinking of the modern cafe?
i dont know, i just did a google, i got hard times near the U, modern times on chicago in south minneapolis... and modern cafe

best of the best in the twin cities?

breakfast ideas walking distance from target center(downtown)
well, my friend has challenged me to find him a decent breakfast place within walking distance of the target center, as i seem to know about all the good places, however i didnt want to admit i dont think i knew any breakfast places downtown that were noteworthy...
visiting chicago next month, need a rundown
ill be staying at the inn of chicago, a few blocks from uno.. taking public transit isnt out of the question either
visiting chicago next month, need a rundown
my friends and i are driving down to chicago in february, and we are looking for the "best of"
chicago, if it matters we are staying downtown, so preferably walking/stumbling distance is preferred
so what are some things we would like to eat
pizza(doesnt every tourist?)
steaks(fancy not wallet breaking)
anything else noteworthy
drinks, 1 a night or a string that can be crawled(in the same area/street)
id like to have a place for lunch and dinner for 2 days, so 4 places total, maybe a place for drinks each night
stanley's northeast bar room?
well i finally went last night, and i have to say, the feel is very similar to victory 44, cozy dining area with a central bar, and partially exposed kitchen, although the dj? might have ruined it for me
the music was all over the place without a rhyme or reason, and the eq skills werent the greatest, but it got better after he left, but it was pretty loud still
on to the food
i had the stanley burger, which is about a half pound angus burger stuffed with.... not cheese but brisket! with caramelized onions served with fries and a few pickle slices
it was a pretty juicy burger which dripped all over my plate, the caramelized onions gave a nice sweet taste that i could not help enjoying, but the taste of the brisket was far subdued i think, it just wasnt there, nice concept, but could have been handled better, something extra to contrast the different styles of prepared meat would have been nice, the pickles were pretty good i think, almost done in house, but i dont know for sure as i failed to ask, but the fries were over cooked a little, probably a minute too long, as they were browned like i like my hash browns in the morning, they werent too bad, but overcooked
overall i give it a B, it was pretty quiet when i went but i think i will try it again in the near future

TC: Ice Cream Parlor?
i just stopped by there today, they had some wonderful ice cream! it was awesome! im gonna go back there sometime this week, ice cream is my vice!
they had a pretty good variety of ice creams to choose from including a few sorbets. i talked at length with the owner, who happens to have another full time job to support this business, i definitely think this place should be given a try! all of you ice cream junkies/foodies, get out there and help this locally owned and operated hole in the mall a shot
www.grandpasicecream.biz
and they got a frequent visitors card, get 8 stamps(buy any 8 ice cream products) and get a double scoop cone free

any good bars/eateries in the fridley area?
im looking for something good within about 5-10 miles
preferably cheap so i can frequent it or maybe even places that have specials on certain days
msp: curry 'n noodles hopkins
well i went today, its a buffet style place, basically you just go in, and sit down, they bring out water and you grab your food
i got a to-go box, and it was $11.79, however i was told it was cheaper to eat in, but i didnt have time to eat in
it says its indo-chinese, but it seemed like it was more indian than chinese
so it was mostly indian offerings, im no indian food expert, but i thought what i had grabbed was good, however the tandori chicken(if that was what was labeled) seemed dry, but my favorite thing of what i put in my box was the chicken tikka masala, it was pretty good, slow sneaky spicy made me sweat a little, on the Thai hotness scale i would give it a 2, as it was hotter than most stuff i would normally eat, but it wasnt extremely hot, it was pretty enjoyable, again, im not an indian food guy, but i thought it was pretty good, i will most likely go back, but not for lunch(at least when im working and if i have more time)
msp: curry 'n noodles hopkins
i attempted to stop by there earlier today, they arent open yet, but im totally stoked for it
msp: curry 'n noodles hopkins

MSP Victory 44 - A New Beginning?
just got done here, i must say the burger was very good, the pickles made it worth it
im going to have to come back and try the Scottish egg
might have found my new favorite spot though, the way the waiter/staff talked about the food, i could tell they were foodies! "burger cooked in its own emulsified fat" LOL LOVE IT im going back later this week, maybe tomorrow night
