Relaxed steak / salmon in Salt Lake City?

I'm with the family, including kids, and we're in Salt Lake City looking for some comfort food of reasonable quality. We're really sick of road food and want something more filling -- like a steak, or a nice piece of salmon. The kind of restaurant I'm thinking of would be like a well-regarded neighborhood place, not one of the top places in the city. We have kids, after all. But one more Starbucks chicken sandwich and I'll explode. Help?

Thanks!!

Recommendations for inexpensive yet romantic?

Thanks for the feedback about being inspecific. I'd say that a total meal cost of ~C$70 for dinner would be our ceiling. Lunch of course less if possible.

For cuisine types, modern takes on French, American, Canadian are preferred but some of those French-influenced restaurants sound pretty interesting.

We like wine, but we don't want to spend too much. Ideally, the centerpiece of the evening would be the food and the ambiance.

Does that help? I am grateful for the suggestions!

Recommendations for inexpensive yet romantic?

Different question -- my wife and I are taking a long weekend in Montreal this weekend, and we're trying to do it inexpensively but memorably. Our hotel is Le Meridien Versailles near the CCA, but we can get around on the subway and buses. (At least, it looks pretty straightforward; we obviously haven't done it yet.)

I'm guessing there must be a million suggestions, so I'm grateful for the help on this. Would posters have recommendations for inexpensive yet romantic / memorable places for lunch and dinner? Easily accessible by public transportation is a plus. Modern Continental / American / Canadian cuisine preferred.

Help us make it a great weekend! Thanks!

Good, uniquely Montreal restaurant for business dinner?

A few colleagues and I are travelling to Montreal this week; we'll be staying downtown (in the Golden Square Mile) and we could really use a few restaurant recommendations. I've heard such great things about the Montreal dining scene.

Any suggestions for great food in kind of a fun, memorable atmosphere that is really unique to Montreal? It'd be nice to go back home with some memories of a great Montreal experience. If it helps, we are on expense account.

Thanks!

Good "traditional-feeling" Japanese restaurants where a couple of gaijin won't embarrass themselves too badly?

My two colleagues and I are in Tokyo for a conference next week and are looking for good places to have dinner. We'd love to try some great Japanese food in a traditional setting, but we're not very sophisticated about Japanese dining traditions so we're a little worried we could get in over our heads if we try to go "too" authentic. (We can't read Japanese, for instance, so we could get lost in a menu, for instance.) But we'd like to try something that's not so Western if we can; we'd love to get a great traditional experience.

Any recommendations? We're on expense account, which is helpful. I'd be grateful for the guidance!

We're in downtown Tokyo but should be easy to get anywhere in downtown area.

Calgary recommendation -- fun / good dining on expense account?

I've also just been given a recommendation for Rouge as a good food, fun, good-Calgary-memory kind of place. Does anyone have advice on which one to choose or how to make the choice?

Calgary recommendation -- fun / good dining on expense account?

Thanks, Chowhounders! We've got a reservation at Rush and from the website, it looks pretty good. Looking forward to it!

Calgary recommendation -- fun / good dining on expense account?

A team of colleagues and myself are in Calgary for the first time. We have a chance to go out to dinner but do not know the city at all. Any recommendations for a place with great food and great ambiance that will make us all think very fondly of Calgary? I've gotten the recommendation for River Cafe a few times but it is closed in January, unfortunately.

Canadian / European (not Mediterranean) cuisines preferred but not required. Help?

Thanks!

Atlanta -- hip / trendy but good?

I'm travelling to Atlanta on business for a convention and I haven't really been to the city before. I need to entertain some colleagues from other parts of the country. I'd like to find a place that's pretty hip and trendy, with a good bar -- the kind of place the rest of the folks in my group will remember as noteworthy. I have an expense account (helpful), but I could really benefit from some suggestions.

If it helps, we're staying downtown near the convention center. What little I know of Atlanta tells me that's not really the center for dining. As long as the restaurant is within taxi distance of the downtown, I should be OK.

I'm grateful for the help. Where to go for a good time?
