Great news! PB Boulangerie is opening another branch in Downtown Falmouth soon!
shhhh...... i would like to try the place before the deluge!
Flying Bridge, Falmouth
the flying bridge is part of the coonamessett-wedding-factory-empire assembled by bill zammer...probably great for that purpose. but if you don't have thirty thousand dollars of daddy's money and one hundred of your closest friends at hand ...not a good choice for girls night out. the locals who work there have kind words for the management.
i agree with the chartroom rec especially if you like to get raucous! the setting is so cape cod. hidden gem feel...food is pretty good...but the atmosphere makes up for any culinary short comings. i am always in favor of a place you can laugh and have a good time without the fun police pulling you over.
lastly...the bar at the sea crest resort in north falmouth is attracting a little buzz from locals...unmatched view for this part of the cape...beach walk on white sandy beach...friendly new owners. haven't tried it myself yet but want to get there for sunset one of these evenings.
Favorite Falmouth restaurants
Landucci's is an excellent value! And when you don't want to take a second mortgage out, to go have dinner, its a good choice. It can be hit or miss however, and recently closed for a month. Renovations? Doubtful!.........Here is my rec, off the beaten path (horrible location), hidden gem,(trip advisor has them as falmouth's second best restaurant), Quahog Republic,The Dive Bar. Friendly, consistent, fun, quirky menu choices and food that i couldn't make at home. It's more than a burger joint, imaginative food pairings, like the Aussie burger with a fried egg and beets on it. The weekly special menu has had the "581", a three minuite egg wrapped in ham rolled in panko deep fried served with a side of hollindaise sauce. Corned beef and cabbage eggrolls with grainy mustard dipping sauce. The menu carries the standard cape fare, chowder, lobster roll, salads, fish and chips, which in IMHO knocks it out of the park! And the house Bloody Mary,(I am not much of a tomato juice or vodka fan), is out of this world. The vodka is infused with poblano peppers, garlic and sun dried tomatoes, served with a perfectly seasoned tomato juice mix, topped with three olives and a piece of applewood smoked bacon, sublime. Not a date night destination, but a good old, "I rember Cape Cod When..." type of place.
Week Night Dinner at Chappy Grill West Falmouth
I dined at the Chappy Grill last week and until today it was one of my top five restaurants in my Chow bio. I really like the food, ambiance, menu and prices. It fits my preference for casual dining and the various menu items make it fun to bring friends or visiting family along for dinner. That all being said, I ordered my "go-to" dinner dish- linguine with white clam sauce, only to be woefully disappointed. The clam sauce was made with canned baby clams not the local little-necks that had always been used. The sauce was thick and stuck to the pasta, not brothy and garlicky. It was a dud. On a better note the pizza shared by my companions was excellent! Ricotta eggplant, crisp crust, tasty red sauce and the perfect amount of cheese. I also believe they have changed the bread served with dinner, not a deal killer...but not as good as the bread once served. I will eat there again, but with some reservation.
Quarterdeck Inn, Falmouth, surprisingly good!
In the spirit of fairness, and due to the fact that I live in a small town.....the owners of the Q.D. also own the Chart Room in Bourne. And I have extolled on the virtues of that eating establishment on this forum and elsewhere. Its a fun location, the menu is typical cape seafood fare and the customers are usually hellbent on a good time. If you are in the area its worthy of a visit. But kind of out of the way. I make a pilgrimage (or two) there each summer. Not a place that will blow your culinary doors off, but certainly fun! The Lobster salad sandwich on Portugese bread is not on the menu but it is pretty good.

Quarterdeck Inn, Falmouth, surprisingly good!
Wow....I am flabergasted. I have had much worse luck there than you! I Have tried the Q.D. many times as it is nearby and in the winter months regulary has people dining into the evening when most places have rolled up the rugs, they are still serving. I consider it a "butter palace", my own term for a resturant that adds butter to everything. The worst experience I had there was with family in town craving local seafood, we went there because the ambience and menu suited my guests. Three had fish...I did not. It was my opinion that the resturant deep fried the salmon and swordfish before pan cooking it to speed up the process. It was a very busy night. I was mortified. The lighting was dim. But the fish looked golden and greasy around the edges. That was the last time I went there. I wish I had better luck there the staff and owners are always very friendly and welcoming.
Fried clams in Falmouth?
Cafe Villagio is now called Landuchi. and its across the street from Dairy Queen at The Falmouth Inn. Quirky ambience- white linen meets Motel Six. The real deal is in the off season - a salad, main course, a glass of wine and a basket of bread with dipping oil is 10.99-13.99. Pretty good food for the price!

Is there any tart frozen yogurt on cape cod?
Or any worth traveling for? I have company in town and they would travel for it. Live in falmouth but guests are going to pTown tomorrow. So the map is open!
Best Pizza on Cape Cod?
I had the pleasure to happen upon the Pizza Barbone yesterday morning. He was just setting up at a festival in downtown Falmouth and the curl of smoke from his mobile wood fired oven called me to change my breakfast plans. I ordered a margurite pizza and watched as he rolled out the dough spread the sauce and cheese. He puffed on the fire and sent the pie into the oven. A minute later he presented me with a perfectly cooked pie, bubbling cheese, basil infused steam and a crispy golden crust. Wow. The pizza was delicious. A tip of the cap to the effort and enthusiasm of the chef.
Cape Cod Breakfast Mid to Lower Cape
Wow menu looks good, but in view of my last post i will skip the three dollar banana side! Keep up the good work. I wish I got down cape more often, your reviews always intrigue!
Phusion Woods Hole
Soooo. I headed into woods hole for a bite, I was looking for something summery and different. i decided on Phusion... the strategy was an app and a drink at the bar and off into the night I would go.
I looked at the menu and ordered a drink, I decided on the tuna sashimi app, but when the waitress came by to take my order she read off the special menu for the evening and I made the split second decision to go with the Kobe beef burger topped with a lobster tail mentioned in the specials.
The burger arrived in short time. Plated beautifully, two aiolis, a mini fryer basket of french fries with truffle oil, topped with a tooth pick and sweet pickle. Quite a presentation! I ate the burger, which was cooked perfectly, and savored the combination of a butter poached lobster tail, melding with the wonderful grilled burger. The fries were good, but nothing earth shattering. I ordered a second drink and sat back and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the busy seaport.
Then the bill came...the damage for the burger was a whopping 32.00! If I had known I wouldn't have ordered it! But if I had known the sticker price I would have savored a bit more. So now I sit here and reflect, was that the best burger I have ever had? Pretty close.
Does the server have a responsibility the the diner to reveal the cost of a special? Or was ignorance part of the bliss. I am still recovering financially from the evening out, lol, but I am tempted to take the plunge again!
Pain D'Avignon is terrific!
Not only do I trust your impeccable food reviews, Cape Cod Guy, but your ability to eat a little crow when necessary is very attractive. Keep up the wonderful field work.
Cape Cod in Winter discussion....Anything?
Hey CCG next time your city bound check out Bon Chon Chicken in Alston. Or pass it on to your hound nephew. The spicy chicken wings were to die for. Hip young hang out. I think it is a chain but well worth it. Unfortunately during dinner with my niece last week the parking ban went into effect as the food was served we boxed it up and evacuated as the tow trucks moved in. To their credit the host went table to table to give us the news, pretty much emptying out the restaurant. Sampled the steamed dumplings and sushi for an appetizer both very good.. I am going back soon that's how good the wings were! As for Cape Cod dining Osteria La Chivetta, but you knew that! bon appitite.
wellfleet oysterfest
Hey Hungry, I got the room, and it was well worth it. Went to the disco on Friday night at the Lighthouse restaurant, cheesy booze fest ... but fun! It is nice to be a stranger in town for the night. Plus the dusting off of the old dance moves requires such. Got great parking at the pier took a leisurely stroll into Wellfleet center and started with fried oysters, went to Hatches for some grilled Rockefeller, then completed the day with fresh shucked. Superb! And to wash it all down with Sam Adam oyster stout! My only regret to the day was to have missed the french bakery raved about on this site. But my antics the night before made that impossible. See you there next year!
Best place for fresh lobster take-out in Lower Cape Cod?
Where are you going to be? The lower cape is big! Welcome first timer.
Cape Cod Restaurants - Our Faves and Not So Faves
Great field work RisaG. Thanks for the post.
Monument Beach Area Recs Please
There is Stir Crazy on MacArthur's Boulevard, but you didn't ask for Cambodian cuisine. It is pretty tasty stuff and the vegan will thrive.
Right in Mo. Beach there is a clam shack at the fish market. Its called the Lobster Trap, they have local fried fish platters and the usual assortment of fare. Very fresh, busy and casual.
In Pocasset, the next village over there is a restaurant at Kingman's Marina. Its called the Chart Room. It is known for its fresh picked lobster sandwich on Portuguese bread, it is not on the menu, but it's incredible. The drink specialty is a mudslide. If your going for dinner get there early and enjoy a cocktail on the lawn. It can get very busy! Local legend status. The vegan will be so entertained by the apres golf fashions they will not squeak.
For food shopping head into Falmouth and go to Windfall Market. It caters to the local foodies and has the staples too.
Its a bit of a drive, but great scenery- head to Woods Hole, to Pie in the Sky for breakfast. Great coffee, good pastry, egg sandwiches and a nice local vibe. Walk through town to the free aquarium. Take the back roads in (Sippewissett), and the Falmouth Road Race route out, and you will not be disappointed! It lands you right around Windfall Market in down town Falmouth.

Wood's Hole area recs?
Jamaican night is Wednesdays 5pm-8pm. Check the website just in case. Get there early rather than late.
Wood's Hole area recs?
A seafood and pizza restaurant family friendly and less expensive is Paul's Pizza behind main street in Falmouth, No sign and they don't advertise local legend type place. Fried seafood, kids plates and thin crusted bar pizza.
Try the Pie in the Sky popovers!
Quicks Hole has a fun vibe and great fish tacos. kid friendly, music and they use local ingredients.
Lastly Coonamessett Farms has a fun Jamaican Night the meal is cooked and served by the seasonal Island farm help. Music and the kids can run around. It is in Falmouth, about eight miles away from Wo Ho,
Places I wish were good...
I would like to throw in the Landfall in Woods Hole to this mix. Great drinks, incredible ambiance. Alas terrible food. But just around the corner the Fish Monger has a surprising menu, and good consistent food.
Recommendations in/near Falmouth, MA
Breakfast at Pie in the Sky, in Woods Hole. The fresh popovers are great. Fine coffee, decent baked goods with a nice townie/tourist vibe.
The Clam Shack on Clinton Ave. has a water view overlooking the Vineyard and fresh deep fried local,(and beyond),seafood. The coleslaw is remarkable! Real clam shack ambiance.
Upscale dinner Osteria La Civetta on Main St. Northern Italian food, wine bar, homemade pastas, steaks and fish. Not good....great! A bit quiet, but one of my favorite date night spots.
Chart Room in Cataumet, Bourne has a lobster sandwich on Portugese bread that is not on the menu, huge, indulgent and legendary ( the waitstaff arrives early for thier shifts and hand picks the fresh lobsters). Good cocktails, clam chowder, try the egg and anchovie dressed salad... all at a marina setting.
The Sea to Shining Sea bike path has been recently expanded, the quaint aquarium in Woods Hole, Old Silver Beach in North Falmouth, Highfield Hall, a day trip to Marthas Vineyard are just a few activities.
From Logan to Cape Cod, dinner suggestions?
It's a must try C.C.G. And in my haste I spelled it wrong, it is El Sarape, and it is in Braintree, but it is easy to find. The marguritas are excellent, great service and the food is really good. It can be a bit tight in the dining room, but the price is right, and the atmosphere is casual. The grilled shrimp on a bed of potatoes is worth the trip!
From Logan to Cape Cod, dinner suggestions?
El Serape Weymouth. Mexican food. Fun, casual and different.
