Where to eat near Hilton Bentley on South Beach

Joe's Takeaway is a great suggestion, but you'll miss them by a day or two. They reopen for the season on the evening of Oct 15, and I think Columbus Day is Oct 13 this year.

Restaurant checking your belongings

Are they searching the baggage of only international guests? I got the impression it was everyone who had bags of a certain size/shape.

Breakfast spots in Broward

Original Pancake House - 2851 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale. Well run with excellent service, good portion sizes and good food. I think they serve breakfast all day.

Miami and FL for a first timer.

Where in Miami will you be? In case you're in south beach, try Osteria del Teatro (1400 block Washington Ave) for Italian.

Buleria in Hollywood

This is a great restaurant in downtown Hollywood. We went for the Flamenco dancing they have on weekends, and it was very good, but the real surprise was the great food, everything was perfectly done and very tasty, prices quite reasonable, service very friendly. It's a small, intimate, unpretentious place. Everyone in our party of four had a great time. The paella does take about 40 mins to prepare, but well worth the wait. Will definitely be going back. Highly recommended. If you go on weekends call ahead to reserve.

Indian Food South Beach

Between Thali and Guru, choose Guru. Neither is great. If you want the best (north) Indian in S. Florida, go to "Bombay Darbar" in Coconut Grove. For the best south Indian, head to the Sunrise/Lauderdale area.

SoBe recs for breakfast & dinner

I will second Joe's takeout for breakfast.

They also have great chicken and other takeout items for lunch.

Note: takeout section is closed during summers, approx mid or late May until mid Oct, but dates vary.

Piola

Have not been to the Hallandale location, but the Alton Road location is decent. A bit noisy, and not the best pizza in the area, but certainly above average for south beach.

Las Vegas Ice Cream or Gelato

The Gelato inside Bellagio is by far the best (I have tried several others incl Venetian). In addition to near the greenhouse, there is another location at the the rear near the pool entrance, and one near the corner of Strip and Flamingo at the level where you enter from the fountains. My favorite is the coconut gelato.

Bachelorette Party Lincoln Rd SOBE - Is there any hope?

Hosteria Romano (Italian) on Espanola Way is always lively. It's always crowded so reservations a must.

Cheap breakfast in South Beach?

Front Porch (1400 block Ocean Drive)
Big Pink (200(?) block Collins)
Provence bakery (1600 block Collins)
Paul (1st block west of Wash on Lincoln Rd)

You can also walk along Ocean Dr. and most places have breakfast under $10 (if you order in moderation)

1st time to Miami - spending a few hours - looking for a simple but delicious meal

I'm new to this board myself, and can't offer a lot of specfic suggestions, but it will help if you can pinpoint your area of interest, e.g. downtown, south beach etc. Miami is not really known for Mexican food. You may find these other threads have some useful info:

Pizza and Lincoln Road restaurants?

Pizza on Lincoln Road is generally disappointing or inconsistent. I like the Corner Pizzeria at 1446 Washington Ave. Pizza is better than Pasta there.

South Beach - Restaurant Recommendations - Vacation :-) Please Help

I will let others comment on the other cuisines, but South Beach is a bit weak on Indian. Of the two Indian restaurants in the area, I like Guru (on 12'th Street between Collins and Washington) a bit more. Some of the dishes may be spicy, so be sure to ask for mild if that may be a problem.

Casual South Beach near south of 5th

DeVito (Ocean Drive 100 block) - probably not very casual but great for an informal lunch. Love their ham and mozzarella sandwich.

Incidentally, Joe's Stone Crab is a great option for breakfast.
