What is your favorite dish to cook, and why?

pasta tossed in olive oil, garlic, salt, and roughly cracked black pepper (may include numerous variations/ingredients including capers, sliced skirt steak + lavender salt, good olives, grape tomatoes, and/or other things).

it is so simple, easy to cook, and delicious. most importantly, my wife claims this is one of ways i managed to win her over.

i think there is a name for this dish but i do not have a huge culinary vocabulary...

Odwalla juice left out overnight...

i agree with Ruth. Taste a bit of it and you should be able to tell whether it is spoiled. I've done the same with their orange juices (left them out longer than i should have) and never had any problems after giving it a little taste test.

does anyone like grapples?

i actually think they smell awesome but taste completely weird. not disgusting but just wholly unappetizing

hilarious kashi stories... (some might find offensive)

Oh man, I wasn't sure if there was some kind of connection between the Kashi Go Lean that I absolutely love eating with my morning yogurt and the evil that brews in my stomach. So out of curiosity, I did a quick google search and sure enough:

I was literally rolling in laughter (by myself at my computer no less) and I thought some of you could relate. My wife has caught a whiff of it (me) and she swears that I could kill a kitten. It's quite embarrassing but I absolutely adore the cereal...

does anyone like grapples?

yuck. i tried one the other day because they smelled so good but suffered a food spatial-disorientation attack. my eyes were processing different information than my tongue/nose and my brain got dizzy. does anyone actually like these things? is there really a market out for them?

Cooking that makes your kitchen smell... fresh

i agree... baking breads and desserts makes the place smell fresh. not like a garden but like a good marketplace. and i love the smell released from a lemon rolled before cutting.

Best Frozen Pizza

amy's spinich pizza, hands down.

cpk pizzas turn out weird for some reason.i don' like the texture of the crust for their frozen pizzas. even when properly cooked on a hot stone.

Best gummy bears?

kolachoman, thats hilarious. my wife never liked gummy bears (much to my dismay because i love them) until she tasted some haribos that were left out one time at my little sister's house. i was munching on them and she was like "that's gross. why are you eating those old gummy bears." i convinced her to eat one (she was hungry anyway) and she loved them. hahah. i thought i was the only person with a weird chewy-gummy bear-liking wife.

i agree with the general consensus that haribo makes the best gummy bear you can get anywhere. great flavor and perfect texture.

Chow-worthy Mail-Order / On-Line Food

I've ordered a few things off of www.foodoro.com and they have all been absolutely amazing. it is a bit pricey but a great way to spoil my wife and myself when we have been good.

i would order casefuls of these shortbread cookies if i could (picture from the website attached). they are delicately rich and i love to eat them slowly to really savor the taste of the cacao.
