Sushi in Westchester

Another vote for Azuma. Really amazing sushi and quality. Been my go-to for years. Yes it's expensive but the fish....mmmm amazing.

OMG!!! H Mart is opening in Hartsdale, NY!

I went on Sunday around 1pm. A bit crowded but wow. The veg choices alone blew me away. Lots of yummy kimchee as well as all sorts of other Korean apps. The staff were v busy but all v helpful and offered free tastings and advice. Loved the selection of meats and all sorts of amazing Asian goodies. I'm going to have bring 1 of my Korean buddies with me to make sense of all the offerings.

This will be a new and much closer market for me to go to and I will certainly be going there much more often. Thank goodness they opened!

Scarsdale NY Chinese recommendation- Jade Spoon

Just wanted to put my 2c in for this restaurant on Weaver St in Scarsdale (in Big Top plaza). Very good, consistently fresh and generous portions. I mainly do takeout for the kids and myself and each time the quality has been excellent.

Be interested to hear what others think. Have a great weekend.

Kummelweck rolls in Westchester?

Not a bad idea there...did that once before with no-so-good results (ie: left in oven too long).

Will have to check into the Rockland Bakery in Nanuet, thanks rkaene

Kummelweck rolls in Westchester?

Nope no Wegmans around at all. Well, none within a looong drive.

Kummelweck rolls in Westchester?

Been craving some beef on weck recently and haven't found anywhere that makes these rolls (well Patisserie Salzburg in Rye does small dinner rolls like these but not the same).

Anyone have any suggestions?

Spiga (Central Ave Scarsdale)... did it close?

...and good riddance. Awful place to eat in, huge portions of barely mediocre/almost inedible food. Surprised it lasted this long. Let's hope something better goes in its place.

Parents need help! Best Italian restos in Dallas?

Thanks all for the recommendations. They will try and eat their way through the list in the coming weeks. Much appreciated!

Parents need help! Best Italian restos in Dallas?

My folks just moved to Dallas and are looking for a good/decent Italian place where they can satisfy their cravings. As long as it's a good place, not fancy or frou-frou (or a million dollars) I'm sure they'll be OK. Their local place is Campisi's on Mockingbird but they always get steak there. Anyone have any favorites? Any and all suggestions welcome.

Looking for good old-fashioned "red sauce" type places or anything that would be close to that. Thanks again.

Salmon Caviar in S. Westchester

I'm pretty sure that Balduccis in Scarsdale might have it.

Best Salad Pizza in lower Westchester?

Another vote for Sal's here. Amazing salad pizza.

Any suggestions for a wedding rehearsal dinner near the Rye Town Hilton?

Many years ago I too was in the same boat. Same situation: guests at RTH, what resto do I pick? In the end I went with La Panetiere in Rye & the hotel arranged for a bus to bring us there & back.

Good food, nice upstairs room (private), good menu choices and a beautiful setting as well. Probably about 10/15 mins south of RTH on I95.

Worth a shot!

Geneva by the Lake - any thoughts?

Same here Eric...Hobart grad too. Food was so expensive there and from what I can recall from almost 20 years ago not that great either. That $15 a week was spent on wings from Cousin's and NY Pizza (???) I seem to think.

Horrible food up there in Geneva back then, we would drive to Rochester for decent eats.

Happy Days Pizza - Scarsdale/ No. End Eastchester

Yep Rte 22. Not US 1. Thanks for the clarification Bob.

I luvs me some Mona Lisa.....

Happy Days Pizza - Scarsdale/ No. End Eastchester

I could be wrong BUT I think this is the pizza place on the same block as Mona Lisa Deli, Eastchester Fish Gourmet & North End Meats, opposite the Mobil station on US1 just as you leave Scarsdale and go into Eastchester.

Last time I ate there (admittedly a few years ago) the pizza was so-so. Might try it tonight with the kid. Although I still haven't found a better slice place than Sal's in Mamaroneck...and Pepe's in Yonkers for whole pies.

Lunch off 95 in Westchester County?

Well if you don't mind going just a teeny bit further you could always go to Pepe's Pizza in Fairfield CT (exit 25 off of I-95). Quick on & off and great GREAT pizza....just my 2c

Little Thai Kitchen Scarsdale

Know that lot well! Last time I ever parked there (for a horrible dinner at Sakura) I returned to find 1 car stereo gone & 1 broken window....

I might get lucky and find something in front of the 7/11

Little Thai Kitchen Scarsdale

I loved the Greenwich location for years and then they opened another place in Stamford just around the corner from where I used to live. Always consistently good to very good.

Where can you park to pick up LTK food? In the train plaza? That whole bridge work is making me nuts...

Got a copy of China White's Menu

Yeah...sorry...MRS can take me. Or not. :)

I'm going to have dim sum on Sunday @ Aberdeen to make up for last week

Got a copy of China White's Menu

Yeah they had the duck. At least I HOPE it was duck!!! Who knows...it tasted OK.

Maybe foodiemom can take me back next time, her treat. Way way WAY too expensive.

Got a copy of China White's Menu

And here are my 2c on China White: holy crap it's expensive. And it's so expensive that it should taste MUCH better than what I had on Sat night. Not to say that it isn't good, but at the prices they are charging it should be 1 hell of a lot better.

2 soups...$15
1 duck salad...$15 (small small SMALL)
1 spare ribs...$16
2 main courses...$60 (!!!!!)
Insult to injury- here's your rice, sir...that'll be $4

So $110 BEFORE tax, tip, drinks...I think I made to $140+. Come on!

On principle (and budgetary reasons) I didn't order dessert. I won't be going back again because of the prices. Food is good to pretty good though, but if I need a Chinese "fix" I've got both Central Seafood & Aberdeen all close by.

Come on CW, your prices are stupid high. And quite frankly the food's not THAT amazing...for that price.

Flame away....

China White...excellent Chinese food- finally!!!!

"Open mind"....not a closed mind. I've done this before, gone into new places prepared to spend a lot. Sometimes I've been amazed at how good the food is and sometimes appalled at how awful it was. Who said anything about being unhappy?

China White...excellent Chinese food- finally!!!!

An open mind, yes. An open wallet, no (or not again). Will report back.

China White...excellent Chinese food- finally!!!!

I was thinking it was too good to be true. I will be there Sat night and will see for myself. Taking out a 2nd mortgage too....

china white noodle bar? where the creek used to be in purchase, ny

So has anyone been here? I do hope it's not another "mediocre overpriced fusion in a fancy setting" as indicated below. But it wouldn't surprise me...

katz and 2nd Ave Deli do take aways?

I have gotten takeout from Katz's before (a few years ago TBH).

Aberdeen, White Plains

So here's a fair question then: dim sum. Better at Aberdeen or Central Seafood? Opinions please! Have eaten at C/S many many times and believe it to be quite good (for Westchester at least). I can walk to Aberdeen from where I live so I'm debating going there on Sunday.

Thoughts?

Candlelight Inn, Scarsdale

I had 20 wings and they were VERY tasty...

Candlelight Inn, Scarsdale

I know what I'm having for dinner tonight!!!

Candlelight Inn, Scarsdale

I like their use of the word "Inn"...not even remotely like that, just a small bar and an adjoining room with tables.

As far as the wings go: they are very good. Best I've found in lower Westchester. Good sauce as well. I think they are open for lunch....in fact I'm sure of it. At least on weekends!

Have fun
