Chinese take out on north shore?

I just moved to Wilmette and I cannot find a good Chinese joint. Just looking for take out/delivery spot with food quality that is at least average.

Best inexpensive pizza for a crowd?

I am having a kid's birthday party for about 50 adults and children. I want to find cheap pizza so we don't spend a fortune on a kid's party. While quality is not the priority, I would like the "best of the cheapest!" Any thoughts, chowhounds?

Quiet bar to take my mom

I am looking for suggestions for a nice bar in the city to take my mom to. We would love good chocolate martinis and a quiet ambience, and a comfy place to sit. TIA chowhounds!

What's the best bakery in Chicago for sweets?

I have a taste for something sweet, whether it be a cupcake, lemon bar or rice krispie treat. I am a huge devotee of Sweet Mandy B's but want to try something new. Recommendations, Chicago foodies? TIA!

ISO- Unusually unique ethnic restaurant

Our group of girls have tried all sorts of various ethnic restaurants, with the goal to find the most "unique" of ethnic restaurants. (so, Chinese and Italian: not so unique; Belgian and Afghani: much more unique).
So Chowhounds, please send out ideas for the more unique gems to try! Thanks!

Great salad selection

I am trying to eat more healthy and would like to find some restaurants with extensive salad selections. Grand Luxe and Cheesecake Factory are great for this, as is R.J. Grunt's for their salad bar.
Any other suggestions?

BYOB for a group

Hello Chicago chowhounds. I am throwing a 30th birthday dinner for a group of 13. I need to find a *BYOB-low-or-no-corkage-fee* in the city (Bucktown, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Old Town, gold coast). I
would especially like to find a place that takes reservations, but it's not a necessity.
Asian fare is out (birthday boy doens't love sushi, thai, chinese, etc.)
Too bad Tango Sur is booked this Saturday!
Also, has anyone tried El Llano? I hear the decor is awful but the food is ok.
thanks in advance!!!

Opera

Hmmm... I had such a lovely experience there. I went on a Tuesday when it is a fixed menu of $25 for appetizer, entree and dessert. I had the fried rice, filet mignon and chocolate trio. BEST fried rice I've ever had. Filet was medicore, desserts were wonderful. Loved the decor. Service was attentive.

suggestions for wknd visit, one of us is a vegetarian

Chicago's best pizza, in my opinion, has to be Gino's east. I'm sure others would debate this!
I've heard Jane's in Bucktown is good for vegetarian dinner.
M. Henry's on north Clark has a GREAT brunch with many vegetarian options. Expect a wait during brunch time. they have a nice side cafe for having coffee and waiting.
You might have trouble finding vegetarian downtown near the Mag Mile. (this is a pizza and steak city!). 1492 Tapas is on the Gold Coast, though, and has, of course, many vegetable tapas.

Chicago Mag Mile suggestions

The Oak Tree in the Bloomingdale's building on north Mag Mile is fantastic for brunch, and great for a group. It can have a bit of a wait, so go prepared to shop a little for eating.

...And the worst restaurant in Chicago is....

Hands down, the Fiddlehead Cafe on Lincoln Ave. We waited 2O MINUTES for bread and drinks. The food was mediocre at best, more accurately described as bland and unexciting. Don't waste your time at this overpriced, poorly serviced dud with no valet parking in a very difficult-parking neighborhood.

Korean in NW burbs?

It's not very northwest, but in Naperville, there's a great place called Cho Dang Village. It's pretty inexpensive, and the food is great! They don't have traditional Korean barbeque but specialize in soups and noodles.
