ISO unpasteurized apple cider

They were selling unpasteurized cider (UV treated) today at the Harvard Square farmers market. I'm blanking on the name.

$8/gallon, $5/ 1/2.

Fried Ipswich Clams

I second the Belle Isle suggestion. It's the most convenient for your plans and their clams are yummy (you also have the lobster roll option). They just moved into a space across the little bridge in Winthrop and now have plenty of seating. Make a stop at Spinellis in East Boston or Torrettas in Revere for some Italian treats for your friends in VT.

BELLE ISLE SEAFOOD- Such Conflicting Reports! What About Yours?

Eat there about a 1/2 dozen times a year. Wife loves the lobster roll. No filler with nice big chunks of lobster meat. I lean towards the fried haddock sandwich. If you lean towards eating in or near the car, now that they have parking in the back you might get yourself a spot right by the water.

KO pIes opening in Scup's location

There will be an article in this Sunday's Globe about KO pies opening a new location at the East Boston marina. From the description, it sounds like the Scups location. Never been to KO so happy to hear peoples' opinions.

ISO ballpark sausage

Agreed, but for what its worth, they usually have plenty of the boxes of sausages. The boxes are 5 lbs. each. I bought one sweet pork and one chicken a few months ago. Be warned (keeping in mind the old rule about not watching sausage being made) that you walk right into the butcher area to get to the little office where they sell retail. I did a few double takes. Also, you can sometimes find the boxes at Stop & Shop.

No City Hall Plaza food trucks this morning . . .

. . . anyone know why? Weather? Phantom Gourmet event? I had an itch for a clover sandwich and popover which I was unable to itch.

Don Ricardo's (Peruvian) in the South End

For what its worth, knowing nothing of the quality at DRs, tallarines en salsa verde, usually served with a breaded piece of steak or chicken, is a traditional Peruvian dish.

Clover breakfast sandwich

The rain couldn't get in the way of my hunger this morning so I went a little out of my way and stopped at the Clover truck at City Hall Plaza for a breakfast sandwich. First customer of the day. They were unbelievably friendly. Anyway, $3 got me a breakfast sandwich which was far and away better than any other I could get in the area. Cheddar cheese, tomato, and a soft boiled egg done perfectly - solid white and runny yolk. Not messy either as they serve it in a little pocket bread. I'll be back.

Isn't that where the Karo chicken cart (I believe Armenian) is located?

jumbo bun

Left the house early enough today to take a detour into Chinatown. Headed over to Great Taste to get a jumbo bun and they were out with no idea when more would be ready. Any other bakeries that serve a similar item (egg, sausage, etc).

Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken

In the same vein (a Central American roast chicken joint) is Rosticeria Cancun in Maverick square. They have a newer, larger establishment closer to Central Square on Meridian Street, but I still love the hole in the wall (literally) feel of the original. Anyway, its been a while since I had their chicken, but I used to love it. Came with rice, beans, salad and tortillas.

Lay it on me, hounds--best dining on Outer Cape

We've had wonderful meals at Mac's Shack in Wellfleet and the Red Inn in PTown. Go early to the Red inn and have a drink on the deck.

Fried clams on The Cape

To each their own, of course, but our meals at Sam's were far from gross. The clams were sweet, not too big or small, and my haddock was fresh and flaky. The fries were just ok, but most of the time I can pass on the fries anyway. As for Capt. Frosty's, I don't find their prices so high that its a rip off.

Scup's for brunch on Sunday

It is very dog friendly at the outside tables. We always bring both of our dogs and there are usually others there. Note that Piers Park does not allow dogs. We have greatly enjoyed the food and drinks everytime we have been. The owners and other diners have always been incredibly friendly.

Captain Frosty's in Dennis or Seafood Sam's in Sandwich. We just ate at both last week and were very satisifed with the fry job. Sam's is also surprisingly reasonably priced.

Rincon Limeno: What a fry job!

Two of us split it a few weeks ago and were stuffed for the rest of the day. I like dipping the fried seafood in the ceviche marinade.

Lunching in Lynn?

In addition to all of the other places mentioned, I would also suggest heading to 3 Yolks on Western Ave. They also serve lunch and when we were there last week the specials looked tempting enough that some of us seriously considered hanging out until lunch. Basic diner/comfort food.

Cambridge Common - Wow, what a terrible hamburger.

I haven't eaten there in years, so the menu has probably changed, but when I used to go more often, they had a regular burger and a "black angus" burger, and there was a huge difference in quality.

Sonic

It amazes me that people are surprised by the quality of the food from a place that offers an item that consists of chil and frito wrapped in a tortilla. Its called lowered expectations. With that in mind, when I went to one in Maryland, I did not order a sandwich (my DC did and was disappointed). Instead, I ordered the tots with chili and cheese, and found them enjoyable. My daughter got the popcorn chicken, and I thought they were fine. The drinks, everyone got a lime rickey of some sort, were good.

time to kill in East Boston?

I second the Peaches and Cream rec, which is also a Peruvian restaurant, Betos. Check to see if they have the "mil hojas", which is many alternating layers of a thin pastry and dulce de leche (manjar blanco in Peru). If not, get the alfajores, shortbread and manjar blanco, which I think are the best ones in the area. On the bakery tip, also check out Lolly's on Bennington, between Central and Day squares. Used to be an Italian bakery but is now latin mainly serving breads and pastries. For a more traditional Italian bakery, its not that far to Torretta's in Beachmont.

Where to buy good tamales?

I have a vague recollection of a post from a few years ago talking about a store on Shirley Ave in Revere (near Floating Rock) where they were selling homemade tamales on the weekends. There are only 2-3 Latino stores on that stretch.

Desperately seeking cheap Mexican *in* Boston...that's not Anna's etc.

There is no more Tacos Lupita on Shirley Ave in Revere. I drove by and it appears to be another Central American restaurant. Mrs. Guapo and I have yet to try it.
