Bachelor's party roadtrip from LA to SF--food suggestions please!

Jocko's in Nipomo is the authority on Santa Maria style BBQ. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere, but it is definitely a local favorite.

Phở in the central coast

Just got a report from a friend about the Pho at Chow. Apparently it wasn't up to snuff - the broth was lacking. Bummer.

Anyone tried Mee Heng Low in SLO?

I'm pretty sure it has new owners - I went there years ago and was unimpressed, but now I hear glowing reviews from friends (and now Bruce). May have to give it a try

Phở in the central coast

Living in San Luis Obispo County is great, but i can't seem to find any place that serves phở. Anyone know anywhere to get a decent bowl on the central coast? I'm getting desperate - i'd go pretty much anywhere in between Paso Robles and Santa Maria. I'd probably go further if i knew of a good place.

Anyone got any tips?

Visiting Boston, looking for food suggestions

Thanks to all for the great suggestions. I tried to get the sister to change the reservation from Legal, but that's her "favorite seafood place." I didn't want to push too hard - it is her graduation dinner. That being said, i'll be sure to check out as many recommended places as possible! Thanks again!

Pismo Beach / San Luis Obispo - what's best?

I guess i've been lucky - i've made it out there only about 4 or 5 times in the past few years and i've always been pleased with the food. Plus, I'm a big fan of the weirdly small/oddly laid out dining room.

A Cambria post with no mention of Robin's? Blasphemy!

i haven't been to Giuseppe's in Pismo, only the one in SLO, and i think Buona Tavola is better. Maybe wait for someone who's been to the Pismo location to weigh in. If one of your nights is a Thursday, make sure to check out the awesome farmers market in SLO.

Visiting Boston, looking for food suggestions

Should be in Boston for around 3 or 4 days. I like pretty much all food types, but i mostly want to get a feel for the Boston food scene. I don't have a whole lot of cash, but i'm not afraid to drop good money on deserving food. I'll be there alone, but probably eating some with my sister. I'm in my mid 20s.

I only know i'm going to Legal because my sister apparently made a reservation. Apparently she likes it (but she's not very... epicurean). It's not a good place? I don't know if i can change this meal, but i can try.

Visiting Boston, looking for food suggestions

Going out to Boston (from CA) soon for my sister's graduation. I've never been to boston before, so i'm looking to experience the food culture. I think I'm going to Legal Seafood (any suggestions here?) for a graduation dinner, but other than that i have no idea what/where to eat.

Any suggestions on cool local spots? regional cuisine? Places i should make sure to go to? Places to avoid? Cool bars? As a guy living in a small town in CA, i don't want to miss an opportunity to eat well in a big city. Thanks!

I second the suggestion to eat at Novo. Awesome food, awesome wine list. As for Italian, I'd suggest Buona Tavola in downtown SLO. Great northern Italian foods (so if you're a seafood fan, maybe not the best) - see if you can eat out in the back patio. I don't think there's much (if any) French food in SLO.
