Single cup coffee maker recommendations?
You sound like me. I have used the Black & Decker for years since I am the only one here who drinks coffee......but it's not that great & I am getting more & more leary of eating/drinking PLASTIC. Experts say that heated plastic is even worse. I have looked everywhere for a solution. It seems like all coffee makers employ the use of plastic. Not good! I would love to be able to find one made of glass or stainless steel. I DON'T want to use pods. (I like to buy all different kinds of coffee & grind the beans myself) And I only want 1 cup......2 at the most. Anyone have any ideas?
Good Cocoa Powder??
I have tried Nestle' cocoa & Ghirardelli, & I will never stray from Hershey's again! I have been baking with it for 40 years (yikes) & it never lets me down. I use it for Texas Chocolate Sheet Cake, Coca Cola Cake, brownies, no-bake cookies, & that yummy hot fudge pudding cake. I'm not a cocoa snob, but after using those other 2 only because Hershey's was out-of-stock that day.........why continue to try other, more expensive & hard-to-find brands when you have had success with the old fashioned kind?
Your Favorite Fresh Tomato Recipes
How's this for easy? Get locally grown fresh tomatoes, slice, & dollop with Marie's Chunky Feta Cheese Dressing. (has no preservatives) You will not believe how yummy this is. Find the dressing in the refrigerated section of the produce dept at, say, Tom Thumb or Kroger.
Printing a recipe
Hi Eric. It's September- & I just printed the pasta salad recipe with tomatoes, feta, basil, etc. This printing problem still exists. We want a recipe to be able to be printed simply, in black & white, on one page, with no extra frou frou! (such as pictures & other unnecessary junk) I chose your print option & the first page was totally a waste. The second page was good, & if I had used my own computer's file to print, & utilized "print preview", I would have only printed the 2nd page. But this is a waste of time & we shouldn't have to do this. Please make a "printable page" option with all your recipes. One page, per recipe, pure & simple! Thanks!
frozen yogurt- DFW
There's a new place in Arlington called Yogurt Walki. (yeah- dumb name) It is good, though. Flavors such as cappuccino, green tea (tart), original tart, triple chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, cookies & cream, taro, etc. I like the tart ones with berries. They did have the fruity pebbles! I keep looking for granola puffs which I have not seen since the 70's. There used to be a frozen yogurt stand IN Six Flags called Frogurt which was SO good. (they had the granola puffs as one of their toppings) Guess they were just ahead of their time.....(sigh) Yogurt Walki is on Matlock south of I-20- in a strip mall along with a Chinese buffet. Oh- it is self-serve.
Potager (Arlington)
Yes, a website with daily menus would be awesome- that way people don't have to call & disturb the chefs as they prepare the food! I just went here Friday & loved it. The concepts are great- you are so right about so much food being wasted at restaurants. (not to mention the HUGE portions that make people FAT!) I had spinach quiche (YUM), acorn squash-red pepper soup (good), salad (OK), & chocolate ganache cake (yum). Only complaint was the salad was a bit bitter & needed more dressing & nuts. Couldn't tell what the vinaigrette was. Loved the French press coffee & I am assuming it was Cynthia who served this to us. My friend & I each paid $15. The strawberry tea was also out-of-this-world! I will tell as many people as I can about this place. If things start going south in regards to $, please consider a prix-fixe.......perhaps $10 per person for what I had and $15 for the main lunch offerings. (such as beef, fish, or chicken) It would be worth it to make sure this charming establishment remains open!!!
