Galveston - Strand Emporium
Greetings folks! I'm hoping some Chowhounders can help me.
I grew up in Galveston and as a treat my folks would take us to the Strand Emporium for sandwiches. They made this particular sandwich that was sold at the front of the shop, wrapped in foil. It was some type of spread on a baguette, and I'm trying desperately to remember it. Was it ham? salami? Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Am i smoking crank?
I've tried calling the Emporium but all the numbers listed are out of order.

I got a copy in the mail and I can't quite figure out if it's an industry magazine or if it's trying to be a supplement to something else? I agree, some very nice images in there.
Photos look like a crime scene!
I actually applaud and appreciate the attempt at differentiation. The photo in question doesn't make me want to jump out of my seat and eat (actually the opposite) BUT having said that it's fun, new, and different. Just like Chow.
