The Inn at Dos Brisas: Washington, TX
Thanks -- I will try to report back on our trip.
The Inn at Dos Brisas: Washington, TX
Any other word on this place. I think we are planning on doing Thanksgiving here and have heard great things about it -- which I hope is true after seeing the room rates.
Where to eat near Heard Museum, Phoenix
I don't have a food recomendation unfortunately, but enjoy the Heard. A true treasure.
Great meal in Madrid on a Sunday night?
We stayed in the Salamanca area in March and found few places open on Sunday. The hotel recommended El Gran Baril for seafood and it was very good. Expensive, but pure, fresh seafood. We had percebes and cigalas and they were fantastic. First time having percebes and I cannot wait to get back to Spain to try them again. Main courses were Hake and I had Chipporones al la plancha which were really good.
Coin toss - Akelare or Arzak? Help please . . .
We did not make it to Akelare in April, but we did make it to Arzak and it was our favorite of the trip. My wife and I both preferred it to another incredible meat at Mugaritz. In fact, while the choice of a favorite was a little closer for me, Arzak was hands down my wife's favorite. I second the hospitality of Elena (Juan Mari was out), a truly remarkable interest in her customer's experience.
Dallas-Si Tapas opening soon by Hola! owner
Just stopped in and had a glass of wine and a couple of tapas. The food was great and I was able to visit with the owner. This place is the real deal with traditional tapas. The menu contains a good selection (it seems to me, many more dishes than Hola). He also indicated that they are planning on doing Sunday brunch with large paellas made outside on the back patio.
Take Out Carne Adovada and Tamales in Santa Fe or Albuquerque
Tamales have been in New Mexico since before the Spanish. The Pueblos have been making them with blue corn for centuries.
Restaurant Arzak - San Sebastian
We dined at Arzak in late March and I am actually shocked by these posts. We found it to be incredible. The food, service and atmosphere was fantastic. The lack of English spoken by the staff was more than made up for (if it even needs to be) by enthusiasm. Hopefully, the other diners were there on an off nite. As for me and my wife, it ranks up there at the top of our dining experiences and we would return in a heartbeat. For what it is worth, we also had a great time at Mugaritz, but thought that the meal at Arzak was several notches above the experience at Mugaritz.
