ArmadilloPepper's Profile
Honey connoisseurs...
Tupelo is my favorite also! It is mostly produced in the Florida Panhandle (Appalachicola river basin) where the majority of the White Tupelo trees are located in the river and swamp areas.
If you like Tupelo, then suggest you try Sourwood.
Chow-chow help!
Chow-Chow is a popular Southern relish. Many use it on Black-Eyed Peas and Pinto Beans. It can have many different ingredients, but is typically made from chopped green tomatoes (and sometimes red tomatoes), cabbage, mustard seed or powder, onions, hot peppers, sweet peppers, cabbage and vinegar. Other optional ingredients include cucumbers, celery or celery seed, carrots, beans, asparagus, corn and cauliflower. There is an entire article on "what is chow-chow" at http://www.armadillopeppers.com/Chow-Chow_Relish.html
GREAT Tomatoes!
I bought some tomatoes this past weekend at Wal Mart (shaped like those Roma tomatoes), no labels, and they were fresh and delicious. Definitely not the hot house taste. I diced them up, put some diced green onions with them and ate them with black beans and wild rice.
Jacksonville Dining
Also, don't forget St Augustine. Conch House is on the water. They have little cabanas you can eat under. And, Caps in St Augustine. Both are outside and excellent.
Another good one at Jax Beaches I didn't see below: Giovanni's. I echo the comment about Casbah. This is a fun place to eat.
Tallahassee Barbeque
I haven't been back to Tallahassee in about 7 years, but Tiny's. Go west on 20 from Capital Circle. It is not very far outside of town. When heading west, it is on the left. Excellent.
I found a really good bottled ketchup
My favorite is Intensity Academy's Chai Curry Chup. It is a Chai-Tea infused curry ketchup.
