Dinner and drink recommendations in Eugene, OR

I highly recommend Bepe and Gianni for great italian food. Two other great options are Red Agave (Latin Fusion) and Marche (NW cuisine) All could hang with Portland restaurants IMHO. enjoy!

Eating well in downtown Seattle with a 3 year-old

Sorry, I think the Steelhead Diner is woefully over rated. Also, I'm not sure it is a good kid place either....Just my opinion.

recommendation for brewpub with good food and not too expensive

Didn't know there could be hideously expensive brew pubs......

NYC Chowhounders headed to Portland-Research Completed, would love your thoughts!

Also, meant to say I second Pok Pok as well. Simply the most interesting Asian food I've ever eaten with respect to flavor profile and freshness of ingredients...

I second Toro Bravo. Definitely not your typical tapas joint.....I'm also a big fan of Higgins and Paley's Place which are absent your list. Also very local flare there....

Weekend in Portland (breakfast and lunch ideas)

IF you don't mind waiting, try Screen Door on E. Burnside. Great breakfast spot, only open on weekends (Dinner 7 days a week). I also like the Cadillac Cafe on NE Broadway

College Football, Microbrews and Great Pub Food in Downtown PDX?

I actually really like Paddy's on SW 1st and Yamhill. It is a very authentic Irish Pub and they have surprisingly good TVs. We watched the World Cup there and they had good HD TVs everywhere. Not sure they have a dish or College Football Package, but will definitely have ESPN/ESPN2, ABC, CBS, NBC, Versus, Etc...

Food is darn good too. I particularly like their Reuben. Best Guinness in Portland as well.

Irving Street Kitchen - 1st impressions

My wife and I went at 7:15 Friday (opening night). 1st off I've been to Town Hall, Salt House and Anchor & Hope in SF...all of which I think are great restaurants. This is the same restaurantuer and I believe the chef is from Anchor and Hope and Pastry Chef from Town Hall.

Nonetheless, I had high expectations. Luckily, the food was great. I had the Gumbo ($8)as a starter and Halibut ($22)for the main. Wife had the bibb lettuce salad and Steak entree. We thought the food was as good as anyplace in town (Higgins, Paley's etc). Very good flavors and definitely a Southern Feel. The Wines "on tap" were interesting as well. The restaurant is very pleasing aethstetically, albeit quite loud (like the SF restaurants).

We will be back. Service needed to be more crisp, but I'll chalk that up to opening night.

Best Brewpub/Casual Dinner Food in Portland

I think Deschutes Brewery as mentioned above has the best craft beer in town. The food is also quite good on my 3-4 visits. I also highly second the Widmer recommendation. Nothing better than a Hefeweizen on a hot summer night and they make great German Style Pub fare.

Does a Fantastic Restaurant for a Wedding Dinner in Juneau, Alakska exist?

Not a lot of options unfortunately. I ate Dinner and Lunch at the Hangar. Great View of the Bay and good beer selection. The Cajun Halibut was very good. The Bahnhof (sp?) looked a little more upscale, but very dark.

1 Extra Night--Astoria or Cannon Beach?

Both the Surfsand and Cannery Pier are great hotels, you really can't go wrong. If it were me, I'd stay the extra night in Cannon Beach. The beach itself is great (Astoria doesn't have Ocean beaches as it is on the River) and there are several great restaurants - Newmans 988, JPs, Bistro, Wayfarer.

I highly recommend the Maritime Museum in Astoria, not to be missed.

Authentica - Disappointed

Went to Authentica for an early Father's Day celebration. Had a reservation, but was seated outside on patio despite requesting indoors (would have had to wait 30+ minutes for table inside). Service was borderline rude. We asked for additional tortillas and were told no. Asked for a separate plate to share an appetizer and was told no. Wife and Mom ordered Shrimp and Fish respectively and enjoyed. Dad and I ordered a stuffed pork tenderloin. Dish came cold and very undercooked for pork tenderloin. We complained about the temperature of the dish and waitress argued that it was brought straight from kitchen. She took the dishes back without any sort of apology and feeble attempt to offer another entree.

Too many good restaurants in Portland to deal with this crap.

Davis Street Tavern PDX

Great spot in Old town. Across the parking lot from Ping. Excellent Happy Hour with great food (Sirloin burger, Bratwurst, Albacore, Crostini trio, Oysters) at $5. Also $6 Wine and $3 Beers. The dinner menu had a great variety and nothing much over $22. Very good Single Malt Scotch and Tequila selection as well. Friendly service to boot. My wife and I had 2 glasses of wine each and a happy hour appetizer for $40 including tip. Nice to finally eat good food at happy hour instead of crappy spinach dip etc.

PacNW tour - PDX/Cannon Beach help

There are 5 very good restaurants in Cannon Beach that I would recommend to any foodie. 1. Newmans at 923
2. JP's
3. Bistro Restaurant (263 N. Hemlock)
4. Wayfarer Restaurant (nice view)
5. Gower Street Bistro

Enjoy and let us know what you pick. BTW, I highly recommend Screen Door for breakfast. Be prepared to wait. They open at 9 am usually to 20+ deep in line.

Bachelor Party in Portland

Go to Stars Cabaret in Beaverton. You won't be disappointed. As a pre-funk the Henry's Tavern in the Pearl (100 beers on tap) and Vault Martini bar are cool.

Portland Recs

For Breweries, definitely hit Deschutes Brewing and Bridgeport Brewing - both in the Pearl District. Good food and Beer. New Old Lompac on NW 23rd is also good. Very Portland with an ecclectic crowd.

Acadia - thoughts?

After a search, I was surprised to see no threads on Acadia on NE. Fremont. Any Chowhounds eaten there recently? I went there a couple years ago and had a massive porkchop that was good. Just wondering if it still a good spot? I went to Roux on Killingsworth in December and that was good, although not very authentic Cajun. Thank you for your thoughts.

Heading North from Gold Bch in OR?

In Bandon, I recommend the Wheelhouse Seafood Grill and Wild Rose for Italian. In Cannon Beach, I highly recommend JP's and Newman's at 988 both for fine dining. Wayfarer is also decent and a bit cheaper.

Best Seattle vegetarian

I'll put another vote in for Cafe Flora. We had a great brunch there on Sunday. The Biscuits and Gravy were out of this world and my wife had a tasty Spinach Pesto Scramble. The dinner menu looked good as well.

SF Foodie going to Seattle - Etta's for Seafood?

I'm not a huge fan of Etta's. I'd recommend Ray's or Anthony's. Flying Fish used to be good, but I haven't been in years. Some people swear by Oceanaire. You may look into Palisades in Magnolia Park.

Put my vote in for Red Mill. Kidd Valley is pretty good as well. Great milkshakes.

Astoria Dining

Baked Alaska is good as is Silver Salmon Grille. Baked Alaska is on the River and the food was quite good although the service friendly, but not very polished. Silver Salmon is a little more upscale with a nice bar.
