Has anyone been recently? I went a few weeks ago and personally had a wonderful experience. I have a weak spot for Canadian comfort food.... :P |

Fast food greek chains: their recipe for "greek salad dressing" and tzaziki?? i had a yummy tray at jimmy the greek last week and i LOVED the salad dressing they used. it's wasn't a clear vinegrette, it was white and more liquidy than the tzaziki. |

Quality of dining during TIFF? i wonder if any restos are cracking a whip on the service/food quality? it honestly wouldn't surprise me if places like sassafraz actually stepped up their game during the film fest... has anyone been? have they noticed a change? |

Terroni- disappointing experience The other night i went to Terroni with some friends. I had heard good things and i was eager to try it out. It turned out to be an unpleasant experience. Our server was rude, the food portions were relatively small (for pasta, anyways. my pizza was quite large), and the food lacked flavor and punch. The pizza i ordered came with only a few small bits of spicy italian sausage, which was definitely not worth $16. I sampled a friend's ravioli was disappointed as well. The food, in my opinion, was too simple and too overpriced. I had a better meal at La Vecchia (near Yonge & Eglinton) the a few weeks ago, where I ordered the seafood pasta (spaghetti with shrimp and scallops tossed in garlic olive oil) and some type of pesto pizza and they were quite good. Not really sure what the hype over Terroni is about... |

from what i heard, some hospitals in toronto (including north york general) are switching food catering companies from september onwards. supposedly the "new" food is fresher and better quality (as one worker who sampled the food described it: "the chicken is ACTUALLY CHICKEN!") note that this is food for hospital patients only. i had a brief stay at NYG and was told there was to be a menu switch in the future. |

Your favorite (and least favorite) restaurant/food chains in Toronto/the GTA my favorites are: the sandwich box- i always get the chicken/brie/tomato/avacado chipotle mayo sandwich. it's like my go-to place for sandwiches. i think a lot of their stores have closed down though. mandarin- errr yeah. not exactly proud of this one. but honestly, who doesn't love americanized "chinese" food? chipotle- SO glad they opened a franchise in canada. i haven't met a person who doesn't like their burritos. least favorites: marche/richtree- overpriced, lousy food. eaten there on multiple occasions, and have NOT been impressed in the slightest. from what i can recall, the pastas are always mushy and flavorless. bleh! i know a lot of you hounds tend to hate on food chains, but i'm curious to see which ones you've actually ENJOYED. |

or should i say, "to-eat" list? My top 3: What about you? Any places you've been planning on going to but just haven't gotten around to it? |

I never had a chance to visit Susur before it closed, but i've heard rave reviews. However, i haven't heard much about Madeline's on here. I was wondering how it compares to the former Susur? Then again, there's also Lee, which i rarely ever hear about. |

Favorite Chunky Ice Cream Recipe? i've always wanted an ice cream machine! i think it'd be so fun to experiment with different things. I'd try stuff like cookie dough, any kind of chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, butterscotch, marshmallows, peanut butter, cereals, nuts, different kinds of fruit..... |

Mixing Cold Cereals -- Yea or Nay? NEVER! i don't like having clashing flavors. My little brother mixes froot loops, lucky charms, honey nut cheerios and cinnamon toast crunch and it's just one big sugary mess. I'm perfectly content with my all-bran flakes, thank you very much. |

Good or not, EVERYONE knows Weber's. There's a lot of history behind it, so it would make sense if it were to appear on the show. |

Dinner on Harbord, tomorrow (Saturday) Tati Bistro sounds like it might be what you're looking for. I had a pretty good experience there, with the exception of a few snobby waiters... It's pretty cozy and definitely worth checking out. ----- |

lunch around north york centre There is also an Ichiban Sushi inside North York Centre, which is fairly good. There is also Milestones, but i'm thinking that's a bit on the pricy side. |
