I just went to The Potato Champion in SE and was pretty disappointed. The fries were top notch, but the cheese curds tasted like day old mozzarella. The gravy just seemed to miss the mark, thicker than I would have liked and not seasoned like anything I was expecting. At the end of the day not-so-great poutine is better than no poutine, but don't get your hopes up like I did.

Need pre-theatre dinner reccos in Seattle

I'm heading into Seattle for a symphony show at Benaroya Hall with 2 others. Knowing nothing about the city I could use some recommendations as to where to eat beforehand around the area, preferably walkable. Something on the cheap end, < $20, does not have to be full-service at all but hopefully something representative of and/or loved by the area.

Thanks in advance.

Sunday Sushi Lunch near Ghirardelli Square

Tried Sushi Hunter tonight and I was impressed. The restaurant inside is clean and furnished nicely, a pleasant surprise after looking at the exterior. Service was friendly quick, although there were only 10 customers there at the time.

The AYCE menu is pretty large, a nice mix of nigiri, sushi, and etc items, with a few untraditional items (lettuce and fried chicken roll in particular). The nigiri and rolls were better than I expected, on par with generic stuff like Sushi Rock. Tempura was a little flavorless, the curry tonkatsu was overcooked more on par with a buffet.

Overall a very good AYCE sushi experience.

Santa Barbara/Goleta casual w/teens?

I'd recommend The Palace Grill for a restaurant around State St, cajun style food with truly amazing bread pudding (a must-order). As for a campus spot where students hang out you'd probably just want to go to Pardall, Sam's To Go and Freebirds are classics, but I would more regularly find myself at Super Cuca's when I lived in IV.

How to Make the Ultimate Omelet, Plus 8 Great Omelet Recipes

Step 0: Bring your eggs to room temperature, most easily done by placing warm water for a few minutes. Your omelettes will not be the same (for the worse) if your eggs are cold.

White Lotus Vodka and Alouette Berries & Cream Spreadable Cheese

After a night of serious effort to debunk Lotus' claims, I have to report that I too felt as fine as could be the next morning. Well played.

You just turned 21 (finally!) ; what's hot?

If you want to feel like you're at a frat house's after party, the Marina is for you. Otherwise, try the mission.

What's Up Dog, SF

I'm a Marinite and always found Royal Frank on 4th street in San Rafael to be better than top dog, and then top dog better than the rest of the field. WUD I find ok, but not great. Is there anywhere you can find a serious, German-style bratwurst though? Better yet, kasekringer (ok I'm dreaming now)? Those Germans really put us to shame in this category.

A real Tom Collins in SF

Anyone know where I can find a real Tom Collins in the city? I'm talking about someone who uses actual lemon juice and simple syrup/sugar. No lemon-lime mix out of a gun, no bottled Collins mix, and definetely no Rose's lime juice. I'm always afraid of ordering them since so many bars just butcher it, anyone have recommendations?

Pasta Carbonara with Peas

Good recipe.
