Lunch destination as part of scenic drive

Thanks gingershelley. We're early risers and will still be on east coast time, so i think this will work for us. I'm looking forward to the weekend!

Lunch destination as part of scenic drive

Thank you all so much. These look like fun suggestions. I'll take a look at some maps and talk to my traveling buddies. Anacortes/La Conner looks very doable on our schedule.

Lunch destination as part of scenic drive

East Coaster headed to Seattle for the first time this weekend. I have made some reservations for meals in the city based on the wonderful advice on this board and am really looking forward to all of them. Sunday dilemma: we'd like to do a scenic drive somewhere outside the city and still be back for dinner (Joule) at 7:30. Half of our foursome are big football fans and want to watch the game somewhere at 1 p.m. (Pacific). Any thoughts on a direction in which we could head, find a nice lunch spot and find a TV for the early afternoon hours? We are willing to leave early and need to be back in Seattle for a 7:30 dinner reservation. Is there a spot within 90-120 minutes driving distance of downtown Seattle that would accommodate foodies and football?

Private party options in Burlington, VT?

I think our first choice would be to find a venue and a caterer. But a restaurant that could provide a casual, buffet-style meal rather than a sit-down would likely work as well.

Private party options in Burlington, VT?

Boston CH here. I have a son graduating (fingers crossed!) from UVM in the spring and am trying to help organize a dinner for a group that would include graduates and parents, siblings and maybe some grandparents. I'm hoping the number won't go north of 30, but let's say 40 to be safe. Any creative suggestions out there for a fun place to host a private dinner? Good caterers that might be able to suggest a venue? I'm told there are 'party boats' on the lake. Any experience/warnings with those? It probably makes the most sense to pick a location in downtown Burlington since that's where the housing for all will be. Many thanks!

Lunch in Newport today?

I'm looking for a nice, not touristy spot for lunch today. Have a car so it doesn't have to be right on Thames St. (though I'm not against Thames). Newport restaurants mentioned on this board that look great serve only dinner. Anyone know a good lunch spot? Thanks.

WHARF 88

It's 88 Wharf in Milton. I've been about three times. I think the food is better than at Abby Park and The Ledge, two new nearby spots. I still like Ashmont Grill's food better, but that's another 2 miles up the road. I'd say 88 Wharf is decent. The place has a nice feel to it and the service is friendly. I'm not sure if the outside dining area has opened yet this year, but I enjoyed a late meal out there last summer. Their pizzas are good, as is the beet salad and the seared tuna app. Have yet to have an entree I love.

Need a good italian caterer for a low-key wedding in Boston

I've been to two very different, low-key events where the food was Italian and done by a South Shore caterer: http://www.crazychefs.com/ I'm not sure that's quite what you're looking for (more caterer than restaurant) but the food/presentation was good. Best of luck and congratulations!

Where to eat? Large group for birthday dinner during 2010 Restaurant Week

I'm going to Sibling Rivalry myself for RW. I had an okay meal at Marliave about a month or so ago -- we were a large group and no one was swooning over their food. Damiano (and other restaurant) menu for RW is posed here: http://restaurantweekboston.com/. I didn't see Hungry Mother on the list.

Best Charlotte neighborhood for eats

Yes, you've definitely narrowed it down. Many thanks. We'll start with pickles at the Penguin and go from there. Sounds like it'll be a fun stop.

Best Charlotte neighborhood for eats

Thanks carolinadawg and southernitalian. We'll be staying in Davidson (Davidson Village Inn) but I thought it might be fun to stop in Charlotte for an early meal before driving the rest of the way. We like pretty much anything, so I was looking to narrow it down to neighborhoods that had a nice feel to them. My son will have indulged his foodie mother the night before in Charleston, so I'll probably keep it on the casual side.

Best Charlotte neighborhood for eats

I'll be driving through Charlotte with my 17-year-old son, on our way to look at Davidson College from points further south. We're from Boston and don't know the city at all. Any suggestions on a restaurant for dinner in a neighborhood that would give us a bit of a feel for the place? Something casual and inviting after a day in the econo-rent-a-car.

Smoked duck breast?

Thanks all. I do love the idea of smoking it myself -- thanks for passing that on, but for this go 'round, will try Savenor's or John Dewars. Thanks.

Smoked duck breast?

I'm looking for a source of smoked duck breast. Does anyone know a place nearby where I can get it reliably and without going too far (I live in Milton)? Thanks.

Visiting Boston with a Shellfish Allergy…

One more for you: Myers + Chang. They have a separate menu to highlight what's gluten free and shellfish free. I have a shellfish allergy as well and this is where I go for my Asian food fix.

Savannah & Charleston Eats

Just back tonight from 2 days in Savannah/2 in Charleston. I'd highly recommend EOS in Savannah. Small plates. Casual atmosphere. Nice wine options. Also enjoyed Firefly Cafe for lunch. In Charleston, lunch at SNOB was excellent; a drink at the rooftop bar at Market Pavillion Hotel was fun and had an excellent, excellent dinner at Cru Cafe.

Dinner in Savannah

How is the bar at Alligator Soul for dining? I saw some reviews that said the new bar menu is terrific but what's the atmosphere like? Loud?
