Montgomery AL
Really appreciate all the suggestions--can't believe you had so many for Troy and Enterprise! Am definitely curious to try Crowes and could very well wind up at Hooks and/or Sisters at some point. Again...thanks!
Montgomery AL
We'll be in Alabama in early June for BamaJam--flying into Montgomery and driving down to Enterprise/Troy. Any places along that route worth stopping? (Any recommendations in Troy or Enterprise?)
100 Best Dishes in Alabama
I'll be in Troy, Alabama for three nights in early June. I see three places on this list:
Banana pudding at Sisters
Beans & cornbread at Mossy Grove Schoolhouse
Chicken fingers & dipping sauce at Crowe's
First, think they're still around? And any one in particular you'd recommend for a quick dinner? (One Yelp reviewer seemed happy with Crowe's.)
Best Sushi in San Francisco?
Sebo was good to us -- we ate there a few weeks back and the sushi was fresh and delicious, ditto the sake, and the service was pleasant enough. For a nice sushi experience, I would not hesitate to return or to recommend it.
And on another note: For a somewhat less expensive neighborhood sushi meal, we both love Kiji on Guerrero/22nd.
Bouchon-Service any better?
We tried to eat there, they tried to be helpful, but good intentions aside they ultimately steered us very wrong re: reservation information, opening times, etc. We wound up at Mustards, which was excellent.
food recommendations needed for mexico-valladolid/tulum
This is all fantastic -- my wife and I are going to Tulum for 9 days this month and I'm glad to see there truly are some great food options. Quick question: anyone ever have stomach/intestinal issues from eating fruit, or drinking fruit juices or agua frescos? Are they generally as a rule made with purified water? Thanks.
Pescheria?
Wow, just came across this thread and I'm surprised to read such negative comments on Pescheria. We ate there a couple weeks ago (mid-Jan.) and it was great--I mean, we loved it top to bottom. (OK, not bottom--the aluminum chairs were VERY cold, and because they run food in/out of the back door that makes the whole back half of the room uncomfortably cold, too.) Food was great, prices reasonable, service fine, we definitely will go back.
Bushi-Tei report
I was pretty disappointed in this restaurant. Not terrble, but certainly not exciting either, and spiked with misses. (Why was the kobe beef app. buried under cheese? And avoid the too-sweet black cod entree.) What gives? I get the feeling there's lots of false hype floating around on this place (kind of matches the 'friendly' but truly 'hard sell' approach of the staff).
Peychaud Bitters - Where to buy in San Francisco
Got mine at BevMo on Bayshore, but as mentioned Plumpjack has 'em too. Latter also have a variety of interesting Fee Brothers bitters -- bought the lemon on a whim, any ideas of successful cocktails to make with it are appreciated!
Zuppa
I haven't tried those specific dishes at Incanto, but I can very certainly say Incanto was a much better dining experience, from service to wine to dishes themselves. I wouldn't hesitate to return there, while it's very unlikely I'll ever be back to Zuppa (cursed space? Cafe Monk was also unappealing).
Zuppa
A Zuppa update: We ate there the other night, and it was a real letdown. The pizza had whole olives (including pit) that were difficult to eat and didn't suit being baked. The pork ragout pasta was dull at best, and the arugula pesto pasta was overly greasy.
Best fish restaurants in SF?
I second a vote for Fish in Sausalito. Ain't cheap, but boy is it fresh and amazingly tasty.
